donperignon··on WorldTUI: I trained a 360M model to pretend to be a terminal
I tried it and is not working remotely as close as the demo gif. It keeps telling me that "test1" folder that I want to create already exists (not true), then letting me do "mkdier test2" (sic) but then the folder is not there when ls. I mean all its expected, this has no state, follow no rules and is making up things from the current context, but is not as "magical" as I thought when watching the demo.

No price. This is just sensing the market, i doubt the have anything other than a dirty PoC
donperignon··on Claude mixes up who said what
that is not a bug, its inherent of LLMs nature

trial, pray, error, trial ... such a waste of energy and talent
donperignon··on Large Language Model Reasoning Failures
i trust my kind yes. i dont know how it works, but i have one.
donperignon··on Large Language Model Reasoning Failures
i dont need to. llm are probabilistic systems, they are not design to reason, and its actually the opossite nobody can explain some of the emergent behaviour they exhibit. will you let one of those to control the air traffic based on "black magic"? sometimes i have the feeling that we have forgot what scientific method is...
donperignon··on Large Language Model Reasoning Failures
an llm will never reason. reasoning is an emergent behavior of those systems that is poorly understood. neurosymbolic systems will be what combined with llm will define the future of AI
donperignon··on Google boss says AI investment boom has 'elements of irrationality'
Google cannot ignore LLMs, I don’t remember last time I used Google to search instead of using ChatGPT.maybe a combination of factors, one being Google destroying their own search engine in order to milk advertisers money, the other the LLMs being so good at synthesizing information. Anyways either they improve or surf the AI wave, otherwise they are doomed
donperignon··on You will own nothing and be (un)happy
Yeah, this really hits home. Everything’s turning into a subscription lately, even simple tools that should just run on your own machine.

That’s why we built ChannelVault (https://mestr.io/channelvault.html), as a desktop app (made with Wails + Go) to archive and search Slack workspaces locally for eDiscovery and backups. No SaaS, no recurring fees, no cloud dependency. It just runs on your computer and keeps your data with you. Trying to defy that general trend.

I miss when software felt like something you actually owned, not rented month to month.

I dont get this…
donperignon··on Internet's biggest annoyance: Cookie laws should target browsers, not websites
Or simply stop tracking and selling user data… sell real services or native ads
donperignon··on Talent
Writing as therapy is great, but I doubt he enjoys writing, seems more worried about outcome, about epic and fame. Productivitymania is messing up with our brains…

obsessively writing Motivational pieces is the new therapy … what a world…
donperignon··on Why more SaaS companies are hiring chief trust officers
I will never trust a chief trust officer…

This AI madness is getting more stupid every day…
donperignon··on Amazon Vega OS and Vega Developer Tools
Looking at the sample apps… I think I pass, not liking much what I see, either generated by LLM or by an intern
donperignon··on N8n added native persistent storage with DataTables
I don’t get all the n8n hype
donperignon··on Typst: A Possible LaTeX Replacement
No criticism, but just reading the title my brain said, rust, and… voila! Apart from that, neat project.

Thanks for the clarification but it makes zero sense
donperignon··on Removing yellow stains from fabric with blue light
Don’t buy anything. Use the sun, for the moment it’s free.
donperignon··on Removing yellow stains from fabric with blue light
This is old common knowledge, why this is a paper? Everyone knows that exposing the clothes to the sun cleans many types of stains.

donperignon··on A motto for programmers: "Tuere usorem, data, veritatem"
Where to start… At the end of the day all this good will is exercised not by the individual but the corporation, and we all know that all good words and cultures is just facade, at the end money is everything they care about. Sad but true
