dontcarethrow2··on Apple Addresses Privacy Concerns Surrounding App Authentication in macOS
The thing that confuses me is the name of this site. Start up workers became hackers then get to be smug because they overspent $$ on a shiny turd?

I can understand smugness from those who contribute/maintain (what I understood by FOSS community), I don't understand the entitlement money brings.

dontcarethrow2··on Conservatives flock to Parler, claiming censorship on Facebook and Twitter
I'm sure it must have been terrifying but overall I'd rather have the real war, Poor v Rich , than the deluded Poor v Poor. It would be over quickly and we won't even lose anything of value.
dontcarethrow2··on Xi Jinping personally halted Ant's IPO after Jack Ma snubbed government leaders
Great point. I find culture itself is 'brainwashing'. It is just influence on your thoughts/who you are. The term brainwashing brings a good amount of negativity and polarism. It's not something that happens to 'us' but 'them'.

We are all brainwashed to an extent. Knowing that can at least prepare you to bring a good scrub and soap on your washings.

dontcarethrow2··on Campaign “Reclaim Your Face” Calls for a Ban on Biometric Mass Surveillance
We should also allow everyone to be able to hide their face/do funny walks forever into the future.

Looking at the title, I hope one day we can run a campaign for a ban on ALL(*gasp) mass surveillance, not just biometric :/

We will just have to figure out other ways to stop the terrorists.. (or stop creating them in the first place)

dontcarethrow2··on EU hits Amazon with antitrust charges over merchant data
Why does this sound like a Skynet brief on the next target? Kudos to this amazing human. Makes the rest of us look horrible I know, we can at least show some support. Best of luck Ms Vestager!
dontcarethrow2··on A brain-computer interface in every US home by 2033
Will there be any brains left to communicate with this interface by then? Can't we just make a pill that makes me want to buy things and skip out on this pervasive future?

It sounds like a great application for medical issues but does every consumer need one? The quotes from the guy from Magic Leap don't give me any hope that this won't be used to further program our race into some mindless consuming turds.

I wish I could sit and hype and wonder if/what can be done, but does anyone around these 'pioneers' ever ask them if they should?

dontcarethrow2··on I don't care what Elon Musk thinks anymore
You just need bank to make bank. He serves as a figure of greed to be idolized. If it wasn't him it would be some other (y)uppie in the valley.

Seems like every industry has their rockstar figures to pull in new interest. Good or bad, it's a talking point(I assume some modern marketing technique everyone eventually will read about).

dontcarethrow2··on Drivers react to Tesla’s full self-driving beta release
I think we are mainly silenced by the hype folks who can't not tell the rest of the internet about their excitement. I'd like to think OP's opinion is the majority, hard to tell on a startup forum where most folks are hodling TSLA.
dontcarethrow2··on The Remarkable Number 1/89 (2004)
Which also makes it easier to find the patterns in its multiple(or just divide by the extra multiple) say 1/14 starts .07142857142857. Multiples with 3 don't give us the common repeating 1428 but still repeats in its own way.. but 1/49 is pretty cool. 1/49 looks to do what 1/89 is doing but with the powers of 2. Nice!

edit: Dont know the format for proofs but heres a try.

1/49 = i=1 towards inf

sum 2^i*100^-i

dontcarethrow2··on A CIA Officer Visits Moscow, Returns with Mysterious, Crippling Headaches
Isn't it obvious? adjusts tinfoil cap The ruskies have figured out a way to attack anyone who has breathed in our freedom air. They pumped their censored/locked air with specific anti-freedom(terror loving) characters which causes immediate discomfort to our free minds. Freedom.
dontcarethrow2··on Spanish police plans to extend use of its lie-detector while efficacy is unclear
Phineas Fisher had a nice video* around that time. Wonder if same leak.

dontcarethrow2··on Spotify revises TOS to allow transfers of user-created playlists
In this case shareholders and investors are the main customers, with short term profits keeping them happy, execs get good bonuses, more money is poured in from market/vc to keep the gravy flowing. No incentive for the deicision makers to keep the product users(sometimes called just the products) happy, for the giants atleast.
dontcarethrow2··on PayPal to allow cryptocurrency buying, selling and shopping on its network
Was hanging at 10-11 and shot up (eh) after Square invested 1% (50m) of their assets. Has been a steady rise (dont know trade terms 'scuse me), I:m assuming it might stay or jump a few more k. Disclaimer: I don't trade.
dontcarethrow2··on Report on Investigation of Twitter’s July 15, 2020 Cybersecurity Incident
I guess on a tech forum, all the techies like to feel powerful. Also, words have never been taken more serious than before. Im sure you have noticed cancel culture. Now it's say what we like or your next!

Stuxnet can/should start wars, your social media app is just that, a social media app, let's not blow too hard.

dontcarethrow2··on Experimental evidence for compositional syntax in bird calls (2016)
I've noticed the warning call differs at times, I hear two chirps for land based predator and three for air. Small sample size, city finches.
dontcarethrow2··on DoorDash doesn't allow a tip of $10 because “The amount is higher than expected”
Drove a Grubhub sales rep around. Usually between 15-30% depending on the package they picked. Which would also determine where they ranked on the site when someone searched for their cuisine. This was when they were just starting out their delivery program.
dontcarethrow2··on Hacked billboards make Teslas see phantom objects causing them to swerve or stop
It could be given an extra sense with LIDAR but that is 'a fool's errand' and not as profitable.

I should start carrying a stop sign in my pack, have some fun on the highway.

dontcarethrow2··on YouTube bans coronavirus vaccine misinformation
But this is the only way the children are safe. Dont you even care about kids? What are you a terrorist sympathizer?

Anyone who felt a jolt when I mentioned the T word should see a psychiatrist.

dontcarethrow2··on Plug’nPwn – Connect to Jailbreak
Also: working around Apple's censorship.
dontcarethrow2··on Apple tells Telegram to take down protestor channels in Belarus
Well, goldenboy Apple has been caught yet again in its own hypocrisy. These mental gymnastics the fanboys are pulling are worthy of some gold medals.
dontcarethrow2··on Five Eyes and Japan call for Facebook backdoor to monitor crime
Wage theft. I say we allow these backdoors but it has to come with a Civilian Unit uses it only on high profile targets. Lets have some CEO/politic heads roll for once please. Not Dimebag Dave.
dontcarethrow2··on More than half of all whale and dolphin species are of conservation concern
I think we should re-target the mission to saving dogs/cats lives. Since we love to hate/war on each other too often. You will find less people unsympathetic towards their pets.
dontcarethrow2··on Facebook, Twitter dismantle global array of disinformation networks
Controlling the truth via disinformation.? I admit I have horrible comprehension skills but it sounds like a smart enough statement when you repeat it enough, I just can't grep any meaning in this. Do they know the truth? You throw in the conspiracy groups and you have made yourself half a statement.

They're bad we get it, Id rather be able to hear how bad they are in the light. Who was accountable when we spread lies about WMDs in Iraq? That caused magnitudes of more damage than these groups, yet no one is held accountable even with Public figures. Do you want everyone accountable for misinformation silenced or just those you disagree with?

dontcarethrow2··on Roof blows off new Tesla Model Y
That was scary to look at. The worrying part is they all look like new cars, many of them with low mileage. This doesn't look safe for anyone on the road.
dontcarethrow2··on Facebook removes hundreds of fake profiles tied to pro-Trump group
Eh, it's election season, anywhere we can squeeze in anything about anyone -- now is the time to amplify. Here we can meddle Trump with his fanclub(?), it's worth some points somewhere.
dontcarethrow2··on Why I stopped reading HN (2010)
This place definitely does not deserve any of my impulsive cynicism. I want to be able to read your discussions without my poor input, I've changed my pw on older accounts to gibberish just so I block myself from commenting.

HN has given me tons of hope for online communities, but every now and then, I run into what Yahoo article discussions looked like post 9/11(lots of whistling to the same tune, started by IC speakers). Don't go there, and you will not hear from me. These are my terms.

dontcarethrow2··on Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes triple the density of lithium batteries
Big if true, but I really don't need a thinner phone. Marketing will most likely salivate at an easy to break phone. Therefor I really hope this breakthrough is fake.
dontcarethrow2··on Tesla hacker reveals what driver-facing camera is looking for
Driving = Privelege Driving =/= Human right
dontcarethrow2··on Facebook leak hints at its defense against a government-ordered breakup
Dont forget all the radioactive waste signs around the perimeter.
dontcarethrow2··on The mystery of why one ant species goes after larger foes (2018)
Ooh but we always war in nature, we can never change. Greed? thats just nature, f the weaklings who cant protect themselves. Whos fault is it they can protect themselves? /s

It sounds like we pick whatever is most convenient for us of the day. Everything disguised in 'its just nature'. We made change and we have left nature behind, we can continue in changing our uglier parts, but it sure as shit isn't convenient when most of our congress needs to be tried for war crimes, held responsible. That is too inconvenient, so let's all marvel at this study that says War War War!
