dpc94··on Cloudflare acquires Deno
Disappointing news to see it shut down, but maybe the writing was on the wall after they laid off some of their folks.

I've been using deno for years and built some nontrivial services in it. When deno added support for npm packages, the early days were pretty rough. I ran into lots of issues with packages and spent a lot of time reading random github issue threads. It's been pretty smooth sailing for the last year or so though.

At least I can use ai to help migrate off of deno.

yeah i tried to do even deeper and classify the types of misses and their monetary cost. for example, I was using Fable at work, and a single TTL miss (responding an hour and half later), cost $6 for one message

There's a link to the repo at the bottom. It runs locally on your machine

Looks interesting. One of the angles that I approached while building this was focusing on cache misses. Not sure if this shows much info about this category. My tool is also local only + detecting changes and syncing into a sqlite db
dpc94··on Stop sending me huge PRs; a rant
while we are at it, stop filling in the PR body with a mini novella of text generated by ai. they are hard to review and are unnecessarily verbose. the description should be there to benefit the reviewer.

I'm curious which parts of the tool are similar to these, which look related to security.

My app was built to visually explore repositories from different angles

I think the related files could be useful for ai agents. I recently wrote a CLI that an agent can pass in files and get back additional ones. Don't have enough data to see if it has materially changed performance i.e. finding extra files that it would have missed

On the trends page, for some repos, you can see that the velocity hasn't materially went up, at least as a function of merged PRs (not that it is the only unit of value). But if you look at posthog, they seem to be crushing it and have a significant jump in merged PRs in the last few months

I can't seem to edit the link, but the URL should be https://devthropology.com/demo

@dang do you know if got changed or if you can help changing this back?

Really liked this quote.

“While breadth comes from reading and talking and seeing, depth comes from doing. The way to really learn about some domain is to have to solve problems in it”

dpc94··on Ask HN: Does anyone use an alternative to a password manager?
I have the same issue. My full password is over 20 characters, but some websites restrict to less than that or don't accept the special character that I use.

Has anyone had poor performance on mac? I notice that my fans tend to spin up quite frequently with normal browsing. I didn't really have this issue with chrome.
