dsingh··on Tell HN: UC Berkeley's CS61A/B/C are the best courses to learn CS and coding
I agree although at the time these classes seemed so unnecessarily hard.

I was fortunate to take - - CS60A with Stuart Russell - CS60B with John Ousterhout (now Stanford) - CS60C with Paul Hilfinger - CS150 with Randy Katz

I believe (after watching videos online) that CS10 The Beauty and Joy of Computing is also a wonderful intro course to take before the CS61 series.

My daughter took CS61B with Paul Hilfinger and he was so gracious to take a picture with the 3 of us together. I have it here on my office desk!!!

dsingh··on Ask HN: What's your favorite physics demonstration?
It has to be the Double-Slit Experiment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfPeprQ7oGc

I still remember how my mind was blown when I first saw it.

dsingh··on What is Something You Recommend (and why)?
A couple of suggestions of ideas that have worked well for me.

- Find a purpose in life. This does not have to be some big, grand thing but just something that you are passionate about. For example, I like to create products and businesses.

- Help others because that gives greatest joy. I have deeply thought about what makes me very happy and I realized I feel really good when I have helped someone even in a small way.

dsingh··on Ask HN: Startups, what accounting software do you use?
Our company uses QuickBooks Online and it has been great. http://quickbooks.intuit.com/online/

It works well for us and we use it to manage all our accounts payables, receivables, generate invoices and financial reports for the board. We use Adeptia Connect to integrate it with Concur (expense management) and Salesforce. https://adeptia.com/products/adeptia-connect-features

dsingh··on Ask HN: Do you use Web Application Firewall (WAF)?
Since ours is a business SaaS application that will be utilized by other companies, I believe there may also be commercial benefits of having a WAF. Eventually, we may need to do a formal security audit and penetration testing but it seems to me it would help to tell customers that we are using a WAF as part of our infrastructure. Is that possible?
