dudus··on DevDay 2026 Recap
It's another Jev copy, like we've seen so many over the last few weeks. But with no benchmarks or price comparison, which likely means it doesn't compare that well.
dudus··on AX – Google’s Open Agentic Orchestrator
It's got a formal announcement on the blog. 4 months ago.

dudus··on Code Scans
With a forloop
dudus··on iPhone Duo
IOS27 has a killer feature that will boost sales for duo. Iphone handoff. Don't underestimate how deep apple customers wallets are. You now can have multiple iPhones. A pro that you use day to day, an Air that you use when you go to the gym and a duo to use when at home. Now the crease lasts longer because you are not using it 24/7, you spread wear across multiple devices and pump the apple sales.
dudus··on Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake – 5 km S of San José del Palmar, Colombia
The heads up is enough to read the message but not enough to decide if you need to act on it or not. Before you can process it the shaking starts.
dudus··on Noam Shazeer Joins OpenAI
How can an acquired dude leave after less than 2 years?
dudus··on 590k buyers paid $59M for Trump's gold phone, but not one has shipped
I don't know any. Maybe I just have a better social circle than most. Or maybe this is a fake number. There are not as many people preordering this clearly fake device, instead this is just another way to launder money.
dudus··on If you put Apple icons in reverse it looks like someone getting good at design
Ghostty is an example of a program that gives you a bunch of different icons to choose from and an easy way to customize it even further.

I don't know any other

dudus··on Is America's jobs market nearing a cliff?
Same here. My big purchase for Black Friday last year was an OLED TV.

This year was prescription glasses.

dudus··on IBM Delivers New Quantum Package
Outsourcing of software dev to India and support to Latin America. Paying pennies and charging high fees. They get contracts to all sorts of big companies like telecoms and manufacturers
dudus··on Reader Response to "AI Overinvestment"
As usual buzz words mean little to nothing.

The goalpost is always moving.

Definitions change to fit the narrative each one is trying to push at the time.

dudus··on Trump to impose $100k fee for H-1B worker visas, White House says
This link is dead already. Not sure if this is correct, it truly is confusing.
dudus··on Ask HN: Has anyone else been unemployed for over two years?
Also unemployed for the last 3 years after a layoff. Partially on purpose because I felt I needed a pause to recharge but I kept extending because money was not a problem due to stonks going up.

I learned react, go. Played videogames and had a child. Things are going well.

Part of me is afraid that too much time off the market will make me not fit for the workforce anymore but tbh I feel like my mental health really needed this.

Now I'm faced with a dilemma. Go back to my home country where I probably could retire now at 40 or stay here and try to get back to work. Trump administration has been making my decision easier by the day.

dudus··on Global Peace Index 2025
Bolívia is a crazy scary place
dudus··on Google Pixel 10 series review
Pixel phones are rarely full price. Right now you can get it on Google Fi for $450.

They run promos around the clock. iPhones OTOH are never discounted.

dudus··on Show HN: The current sky at your approximate location, as a CSS gradient
Not sure what you are on about. Adding an HTTP header to a request is one of the easiest things to do.
dudus··on Brazil central bank to launch Pix installment feature in September
Mercado Pago is closer to PayPal than PIX. I'd say it's a generation behind Google Pay/Apple Pay.
dudus··on OpenAI to buy AI startup from Jony Ive
First Windsurf and now this. OpenAI is spending billions like there's nothing else to use this money for while being seemingly cash strapped for model training since they already signaled more investment rounds would be needed to remain competitive. They're trying to become too big to fail before they have a moat which won't work well.
dudus··on Linux Kernel Exploitation: Attack of the Vsock
As a teacher once told me.

"Never let school limit your education"

dudus··on Plain – a web framework for building products with Python
It's a fork of Django. It says clearly on the docs.
dudus··on Writing a tiny undo/redo stack in JavaScript
I think this is actually the best way to zero an array in place. The other option is using foo.splice(0,foo.length)

foo = []; Will reassign the reference but other pointers can still have the array.

foo.length=1 will remove all elements but the first.

dudus··on You should know this before choosing Next.js
I like Astro
dudus··on AMC Theatres will screen a Swedish movie 'visually dubbed' with the help of AI
As someone that grew up in a Latin America country watching dubbed movies my whole life I welcome this technology. Dubbed movies are usually terrible with subpar performances and recycled voices.

It sucks it will kill a large field for actors, but AI has the capacity to be much better with voices and performances that mimic the actors.

dudus··on 23andMe files for bankruptcy to sell itself
Just requested my data deletion. Seems like it worked.
dudus··on Trapping misbehaving bots in an AI Labyrinth
This won't stop the big ones, Google, Meta, OpenAI, Perplexity, or even the Chinese Govt. But it will make it harder for new entrants.
dudus··on FTC Removes Posts Critical of Amazon, Microsoft, and AI Companies
Google and Apple will have to up their bribing to stay competitive in this new environment
dudus··on Apple has locked me in the same cage Microsoft's built for Windows 10 users
I needed a machine just to sketch some UIs in figma. I was going to get a Chromebook but my wife insisted on the iPad.

I thought it could sure handle that use case, I quickly checked there was a figma app. I was expecting some quirks.

A day later I returned it. Turns out that figma app for iPad can only "view" designs, not create them!

I feel like there's a very narrow market for iPads. I'm surprised they still sell.
