eaf7e281··on Beam: Reflection's 501B open-weight model
> Where frontier open models like Kimi K3 remain ahead on raw capability, Beam's advantage is efficiency at inference time.

It's great to see a company that acknowledges it still needs improvement instead of making false claims.

eaf7e281··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
may i ask where did you get this?

i try to look through the docs, but i didn't find where they said its only for API

is it in the system card?

really hope not, that change the only positive part in this release

eaf7e281··on Tell HN: Cloudflare silently injects its analytics when you switch nameservers
If the cloud symbol is orange, it's enabled. I believe they'll even warn you if you disable it, a lot of people enable it unintentionally.
eaf7e281··on Web Security is Too Hard
I also immediately check to see if it's an actual Cloudflare product because cloudflare[.]pay seems too suspicious to me.

Luckily, Google didn't fail me this time. Found a blog about this product with a link to the same domain.

eaf7e281··on Measuring Input Latency on Linux: X11 vs. Wayland, VRR, and DXVK
Really hope to see a Windows result. What if Windows has a latency of 10 ms+. xD
eaf7e281··on From brain waves to words: a new path to communication without surgery
I'm excited to see what happens when there's enough data, will it show the same kind of progress just like GPT does.
eaf7e281··on ReactOS (FOSS "Windows") achieves 3D-accelerated Half-Life on real hardware
What is the benefit compared to a compatibility layer? Is it easier for future maintenance?

It's definitely a huge improvement towards "FOSS Windows."

eaf7e281··on You can no longer Google the word 'disregard'
this one really annoying

> Got it! Just let me know if you need anything else later.

damn

eaf7e281··on "Not Medically Necessary": Helping America's Health Insurers Deny Coverage
When life is controlled by algorithms.
eaf7e281··on Claude Code weekly limits increasing 50% till July 13
They're trying to win back the people they pushed away by only increasing the weekly limit by 50%. I'm like, "What?"

Won't go back, especially since their new Opus 4.7 is such a disaster.

eaf7e281··on Instructure pays ransom to Canvas hackers
However, they could use it as a last resort or as a final "gift" before getting arrested or switching identities.

They might be considered "trustworthy" right now to get companies to pay them money, but no one will know what will happen in a few years when this strategy won't work anymore.

Anyway, I hope this doesn't come at all, or as late as possible.

eaf7e281··on Ask HN: We just had an actual UUID v4 collision...
> leak state (e.g. UUIDv7)

But according to PostgreSQL, UUIDv7 provides better performance in the database, so is this essentially a trade off between security and speed?

eaf7e281··on Motherboard sales 'collapse' amid unprecedented shortages fueled by AI
Is now a good time to get a upgrade for cpu and motherboard?
eaf7e281··on Opus 4.7 knows the real Kelsey
Interesting. I'm currently conducting an experiment where I'm writing the blog without using any grammar checking tools. I'm wondering how long it will take for me to become "famous" in the AI model.

Is now the best and easiest time to leave something "forever"? Even after many generations of models, a model may still trigger a set of "memories" that know you and what you wrote.

Exciting and concerning.

eaf7e281··on For Linux kernel vulnerabilities, there is no heads-up to distributions
Same. They do become famous, but not in a wholly positive way.
eaf7e281··on Copy Fail
I'm impressed that such a serious problem popped up out of nowhere.

In my opinion, this mostly affects countries that are still using outdated systems, especially critical systems.

This gives bad actors a direct route to the root. Having an easily accessible root is not funny.

eaf7e281··on Your phone is about to stop being yours
I think it's time to visit an Apple Store and try out the Apple ecosystem. I haven't used an Apple device in a long time.
eaf7e281··on To my students
It's sad that the suggestions are no longer accurate. We live in a fast paced world where something new happens every day.
eaf7e281··on Alberta startup sells no-tech tractors for half price
That's fair. We do have some fairly large monitor, but yeah, we still need a TV for 75 inches or larger.
eaf7e281··on Alberta startup sells no-tech tractors for half price
Are you looking for a monitor? xD
eaf7e281··on Claude Code to be removed from Anthropic's Pro plan?
Note that some companies, like Amazon, purchased and ran the Claude on their own hardware. They didn't change the model parameters during the Claude Opus 4.6 karma.

If Anthropic continues to getting worse, try Amazon Kiro and other companies that run Claude on their own hardware.

It might be expensive and have a worse experience compared to Claude's code, but at least the model itself is the "original flavor."

These days, it's hard to ask for much.

eaf7e281··on Discourse Is Not Going Closed Source
I'm not sure where this heat comes from, but what constitutes a "good" forum in your opinion? I would love to check it out.
eaf7e281··on Discourse Is Not Going Closed Source
> If your code is open source, your security team can scan it, your contributors can scan it, and independent researchers can scan it too.

Literally! If everyone can access the same system as Claude's Mythos, one solution is to have more people trying to identify your issue before the hackers have the chance to do it.

eaf7e281··on Google broke its promise to me – now ICE has my data
I still don't understand. Who gave ICE such power, and who is ordering them to do all this? To me, ICE's actions are similar to those of a private army.
eaf7e281··on Google broke its promise to me – now ICE has my data
American companies give data to the U.S.

Chinese companies give data to China.

I don't trust either of them, but if I had to choose, I would use Chinese products in the U.S. and vice versa.

eaf7e281··on Anthropic downgraded cache TTL on March 6th
i mean, openai does same, even worse, they change the model, like gpt 5.4 to -mini

anthropic for now, at least just seems to change quantization of the model

eaf7e281··on Happy Map
A happy map that makes me sad.
eaf7e281··on Anthropic downgraded cache TTL on March 6th
I think they changed the quantification to save computer power for their new model. This might be why the benchmark scores look good, but the real world performance is much worse. I'm wondering if they're testing the model internally and didn't find anything wrong with the new parameter.

I canceled my subscription and switched to a codex, but it's not as good. I'm tired of Anthropic changing things all the time. I use Claude because it doesn't redirect you to a different model like OpenAI does. But now it seems like both companies are doing the same thing in different way.
