earlyriseron The Tariff Cost: analysis of the costs to Americans from new tariffs on Canada

I have one rn in he fridge. It's "cream cheese product" because probably cannot put "cream cheese" in the name. It's made from Canadian milk, not imported.

I don't get this comment by a new account and I try to keep this reply in the spirit of HN without harsh critic and open mind but it's like saying real lemonade is awesome, I just got Tang delivered by Doordash.

earlyriseron I pitched a roller coaster to Disneyland at age 10 in 1978

8 months later sounds too short to have taken your idea, I'm guessing launching a product at Mars scale takes like 2 years. This is probably why the always say they cannot take ideas sent by external people... but on the other hand if this came from the CEO, probably could be fast tracked. So 80/20. Do you remember who was the CEO?

earlyriseron How Jeff Bezos Brought Down the Washington Post

I'm not familiar with this, but are you saying the Washington Post doesn't post about Washington anymore?

earlyriseron Danish pension fund divesting US Treasuries

Is this a thing? I have never heard about that, living in QC for the last 20 years and owned and rode dozens of cars. The car salesman looked at me as a rare species when I wanted a manual Soul. I have never seen an no AC or manual windows car here.

earlyriseron Ask HN: What are your best purchases under $100?

I had a $400 espresso machine but finally I'm just using my $50 moka pot. It's way easier and I like the flavour more.

earlyriseron Uncrossy

Yes, it was a complete wow moment.

earlyriseron Size of Life

On the other side, wasps could be so tiny. like you could put thousands of them inside an amoeba volume.

"Megaphragma mymaripenne is a microscopically sized wasp. At 200 μm in length, it is the third-smallest extant insect, comparable in size to single-celled organisms. It has a highly reduced nervous system, containing only 7400 neurons, several orders of magnitude fewer than in larger insects."

earlyriseron New Mexico is first state in US to offer universal child care

We have something similar in Quebec, $7 CAD per day. It's one of the coolest societal things in the province. Yes we pay a lot in taxes, but we have stuff like this.

earlyriseron The Storm Hits the Art Market

Yeah I feel this too. All of these artists have websites with the standard art format, but as RSS is dead outside our tech circle the only way to stay up to date is Instagram which all artists have, even those without a standard website. Cara is mainly illustrators, Artsy is for galleries (not artists).

Thanks for voting this (front page already). Feel free to ask anything.

earlyriseron Show HN: Typeform was too expensive so I built my own forms

I think they are using Typeform as form app. With an external view Tally, Typeform, Hotform are all the same, apps that make forms. I have use all of them, but I cannot remember their differences.

earlyriseron It’s nearly impossible to buy an original Bob Ross painting (2021)

Yeah, this was what happened when Warhol died, the market was flood with thousands of works.

earlyriseron Ask HN: How do I give back to people helped me when I was young and had nothing?

It's incredible how many folks are saying to pay it forward when OP specifically ask about paying it back (the fwd is addressed in the initial prompt).

Call them, write letters, specifically tell them how they influenced you. My MIL was a teacher and 10 years ago she received a call from a pupil (now a middle age man) and he talk with her about how much she influenced him. It has been 10 years from the call, but it's one of her favourite souvenirs.

earlyriseron Alberta separatism push roils Canada

I think this is part of the Balkanization of the West ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics ) and I'm really surprised this is not stronger in Quebec, but I guess it's more easy to orchestrate a propaganda campaign in English.
