educar··on GitLab Security Incident: Attempted Exploitation of CVE-2026-97229
gitlab is good software. what's wrong with it? granted it can be a bit slow if you are selfhosting and do not give the server enough resources.
educar··on Apple's git still trusts the compromised eMudhra certificates
If you hijack the DNS, the laptop can be pwned quite easily. Think of all the coffee shops with unprotected routers out there.

Unfortunately, it's very crowded and all the rooms are perpetually full. Been there once, I think I only managed to attend one talk in total.

The whole point was someone could throws some cents and hack the site.

Can you share a patch or test program to test the issue?
educar··on Muse exposes users' personal and business secrets when they share conversations
I didn't think that your comment was about data access. I thought your comment was about the callous remarks by zuck. Most of the companies I work with treat customer data with extreme care and sensitivity and don't throw it around like silicon valley ad tech does.
educar··on Muse exposes users' personal and business secrets when they share conversations
You cannot understand it because you are possibly thinking of it from a utility perspective? People just do things because it's cool or keep themselves entertained. Mostly to keep themselves entertained.
educar··on Muse exposes users' personal and business secrets when they share conversations
I suspect you are projecting. This is not every tech company, not even remotely close. Maybe the big Silicon Valley companies have misled you into thinking that other software companies don't exist.
educar··on Europe EV sales rose 70.3% in September, 32.6% of market share
I wish cities would just outright ban private cars unless you get a permit for specific reasons.
educar··on 8 in 10 Americans oppose live-streaming execution
I think killing animals for food is really quite different from the industrialized animal farming that we have today.

educar··on Desire to Move Permanently to U.S. at New Low
Fact is they won't move back until they make a lot of money.
educar··on Anthropic's proposed AI safety bill only kicks in if 50 deaths or $1B in damages
Fact is some things cannot be reversed. It's not about whether it can be or should be but if people want it to be reversed. Not too different from Climate change, Gun control and other (for me) black/white issues.

educar··on Google Playground: Create and play custom games

educar··on What About Rails?
I don't think OPs comment was meant to be taken literally word for word. Breaking down language this way is hardly a productive way to discuss. OP is saying that most software has an expiry date, is this even controversial? All active software companies are constantly rewriting their stuff and would love to move to a more optimized stack, if cost of porting is not a factor.
educar··on Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood?
I already miss rust and erlang articles
educar··on Cloud in a Bottle: making self-hosting accessible to everyone
Yup, they just released Cloudron 10
educar··on Cloud in a Bottle: making self-hosting accessible to everyone
Surprised to not mention Cloudron in the alternative list. Probably the biggest player in this space
educar··on Transitioning from Docker to Podman
Given that the most common case is running docker in server environments in VMs and the sysadmins are root, is this a real issue? Can you tell me an environment where a multi-tenant system runs docker?
educar··on Transitioning from Docker to Podman

educar··on Pricing Changes – Serverpilot

educar··on Mythology About Security
> Wayland, by contrast, has a security model for the modern, hostile internet built in from the start.

And yet basic video and screen capture is not working for years now. Arbitrary rectangle capture still doesn't work on Ubuntu 16.04 in any tool I know of.

So they made it so secure to make basic features not work.
