elevenoh··on Loneliness reshapes the brain
>In one experiment conducted in Switzerland, after volunteers took psilocybin, the psychoactive compound in magic mushrooms, they reported feeling less socially excluded.

>lonely people tend to focus excessively on unpleasant social cues, such as being ignored by others

take mushrooms help fight the epidemic of victim mentality ;)

elevenoh··on Myocarditis after Covid vaccination: Research on possible long-term risks begins
>We are still not anti-vax at all

deciding not to get a covid-19 mrna vaccine != anti-vax

elevenoh··on Bumble releases open-source A.I. feature to help combat unsolicited nudes
I'm amazed by silicon valley's general puritan/orthodox stance on nudity

Nudism is great for the soul - to anyone reading, try it!

elevenoh··on Write Like You Talk (2015)
When I avoid fancy word use, I find myself using slashes [/] between simpler words to paint a precise picture
elevenoh··on Show HN: Crawlee – Web scraping and browser automation library for Node.js
Cool

One issue I have w/ webdriving headless browser in general is host RAM usage per browser/chromium/puppeteer instance (e.g. ~600-900mb) for a single browser/context/page.

Could crawlee make it easier to run more browser contexts with less ram usage?

e.g. concurrently running multiple of these (pages requiring js execution): https://crawlee.dev/docs/examples/forms

elevenoh··on Theranos former president found guilty on all fraud counts
No surprise - when you mess with political-insider incumbents, you go down hard (unlike ghislaine maxwell)
elevenoh··on Dutch farmers organise mass protests in face of farm closures
love seeing the resistance to this period of peak centralized control of lives

months ago many ppl i know praised central mandates on things like ESG scores & vaccines. Near all have completely reversed their position just 6 months later (even deleting previous tweets).

the unprecedented political-decisions as of late have been something of an IQ test.

elevenoh··on Tell HN: Coinbase now requires physical address of recipient in crypto transfers
open source finance = ded rite?

check back in 20 yrs. doubt it.

elevenoh··on RIP Good Times (2008)
Correct. HN loves the climate change boogey man theology
elevenoh··on RIP Good Times (2008)
- Global warming has forced enough climate change to reduce worldwide food production.

elevenoh··on SEC charges Nvidia with inadequate disclosures about impact of cryptomining
What actual rules did elon break?
elevenoh··on SEC charges Nvidia with inadequate disclosures about impact of cryptomining
What a perverse incentive racket the SEC is
elevenoh··on Twitter CEO fires two top executives, freezes hiring
>The probability that Elon is margin called by year end is roughly 40% according to option prices.

How did you deduce this from options prices? IV?

elevenoh··on Nature has enormous emotional and cognitive benefits on people
Downtown vancouver near stanley park might be for you :)
elevenoh··on Researchers discover new cell type in human lung with regenerative properties
Doctors: 'heart muscle can't regenerate' (w/ zero ambiguity in tone)

2023: 'new heart cell type discovered that contributes to regenerating heart muscle'

elevenoh··on Twitter accounts dropping “.eth” from usernames
ENS is like a mapping to a pgp key - that along makes it interesting on twitter
elevenoh··on Twitter accounts dropping “.eth” from usernames
Most did the opposite - small inconsequential accounts tied to their ens name.
elevenoh··on Are you nice or kind?
Wokism at its essence is Nice > Kind.

And nice is near-meaningless.

elevenoh··on Cholesterol and mortality: Evidence of a U-shape Relationship
As a medical field outsider:

Instead of basic linear / bell/U curve type ways of describing impact of biomarkers, are new ways of describing complex biomarker relations emerging into the vernacular? e.g. optimums within clusters/sets of biomarkers

elevenoh··on TrueCaller built a billion-dollar caller ID data empire in India
The poor analogy, mild sociopathy view
elevenoh··on Antarctic sea ice hits lowest minimum on record
>At the same time Arctic is having close to record high ice coverage

Too bad there's no incentive for media balance surrounding climate-hysteria

elevenoh··on Foxconn halts production as Shenzhen goes into lockdown
1.4B population 3400 corona cases

Why lockdown 17.5m in Shenzhen? What am I missing, because it has to be a lot

elevenoh··on Could cancer cells’ iron addiction be their Achilles heel?
More accurately:

The best of all worlds as far as quality of life is fluctuating between periods of high growths & high autophagy (repair).

I agree with all your points other than:

>But no one wants to hear they should scale back protein intake to 0.5/g per kg of body weight or less. (which basically means being mostly vegetarian or vegan, with some exception)

The healthiest people I've observed anywhere eat high protein diets, but balance it with fasting.

elevenoh··on How international money transfers work (2016) [video]
How are endpoints disabled?

Is this the case: nodes on SWIFT network need to update their code to block an endpoint like Russian banks?

elevenoh··on Trapped in Silicon Valley’s hidden caste system
Perhaps the manager was critiquing your absolutist use of the word 'need' here.

;)

elevenoh··on '50% of transactions were fraudulent' when Steam accepted Bitcoin for payments
>Steam back in the day used to accept 0 confirmation bitcoin spends

This is ridiculous. 1 block confirmation would've prevented near-all transactions from being retracted.

elevenoh··on Names of Canada truck convoy donors leaked after reported hack
You're eating up the propaganda.

These are regular folks.

elevenoh··on Spotify’s CEO apologizes to employees over Joe Rogan controversy
Checks in to see whether HN has gone full pro-censorship - not yet.
elevenoh··on Web3 is not going to change the world
>But unless you’re trying to create a cryptocurrency, buy drugs or blackmail a company using ransomware there aren’t really any sensible use cases for a blockchain

God bless this fella.

I bought tesla stock futures in a country that wouldn't allow it via blockchain. I reduced a portion of my ecommerce store checkout fees to <1% by using a crypto payment processor > stripe's highway robbery of 3% per sale.

Ps: [should i redact the word 'stripe' on here to avoid shadowbanning?]

etc.
