enaaem··on Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament
The “skill” of career politicians is mostly loyalty and appointing people based on loyalty is the worst criteria.
enaaem··on Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner's phone
The actually didn't. The Russians (GRU) hacked Kushner and an agent within the GRU handed over the data.
enaaem··on DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine
If they are open sourced, it means any random data center could host it domestically and AI becomes a utility.
enaaem··on Tesla Roadster
I see potential in the circus industry.
enaaem··on Tesla Roadster
Using Brode's equation a rupture can release 52MJ of energy or 12kg of TNT. An high explosive tank shell only has 11MJ of explosive energy.
enaaem··on Citroen revives the 2CV for an electric age
When I grew up anything with 5 seats was a family car. Kids have short legs. They will do just fine.
enaaem··on Citroen revives the 2CV for an electric age
This and the current Twingo are made to be affordable. No reason why a cheap car can't look good. Making it ugly won't make it cheaper. These cares were modelled after economic cars that never had expensive design elements anyway.
enaaem··on Documents add to evidence in climate deception case against ExxonMobil
Places that used to hit 32C max are now hitting 37C consistently. How is that not catastrophic? It is literally unbearable to be outside.
enaaem··on 3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit
It was never about NATO and always about the reconquest of Ukraine. You can read their victory speech here [0]. Russia thought they would win easily and accidentally posted their victory speech too soon.

enaaem··on 3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit
Lol, 100% of the people I know have not returned and are not planning.
enaaem··on 3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit
I remember that during the Wagner rebellion there was a 24h-48h time frame of no Russian bot activities. Was kinda surreal.
enaaem··on Fort Hood attacker's execution by firing squad will be livestreamed
Would you go to war against them?
enaaem··on Nobel Peace Prize for 2026 to Navanethem Pillay
The US is a colony of Israel.
enaaem··on Nature's capacity to 'bounce back' when species are lost is overestimated: study
Decision making is risk management, and is often simpler than making predictions. You need to think in terms of utility functions and you need to stay far away from the catastrophic regions. You often don't need super accurate predictions for that.

One example is pandemics. The thing is pandemics are extremely fat tailed in terms of fatalities. You need a lot of data to fit any outbreak model and no one has time for that. But the reaction to diseases out breaks is very simple. Is it super deadly and contagious? If yes, shut everything down! This is essentially what Asian countries like Vietnam and Taiwan did during Covid and they handled it way better than the West. I remember arguing about outbreak models, which is a completely useless activity.

enaaem··on Sales of sub-€25,000 electric car models set to rise sevenfold
There is the Fiat Topolino if you are ok with a pure city car.
enaaem··on Suits Are Better Tech Than Modern Clothes
Some of my observations:

I think suit trousers are more comfortable than jeans. It’s like wearing pyjamas.

Buttoned up shirts are superior to t-shirts. You can open up extra buttons for ventilation. You can roll your sleeves up and down. There is often an extra front pocket. The collar last longer and it can even be repaired.

enaaem··on Updated Google Maps shows destruction of the city of Rafah
Those cultures sound like savages to me
enaaem··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
I think Trump is smart, but like conman smart. In fact I think he is brilliant in that regard. He is not a food statesman. He wouldn’t even be a good autocrat, because of his untrustworthiness. So yeah Trump is not profoundly stupid, like down syndrome stupid.
enaaem··on Pentagon says overreliance on AI contributed to missile strike on Iran school
That’s strategically extremely dumb, unless your goal is to genocide a population.
enaaem··on EU chief opens door for Canada to become 'associate member'
When it comes to innovation Sweden punches far above its weight.
enaaem··on Most people prefer traditional architecture
There is a nice youtube channel called The Aesthetic City. There are some really nice new projects done with traditional architecture in Europe.
enaaem··on The GDR and Vietnam: From Fake Coffee to Coffee Empire
Fine robusta is legit. Very full bodied, fruity and chocolatey.
enaaem··on Romania soccer introduces black card to 'combat abusive behaviour' from parents
Happened last week in the Netherlands. The home team (FC Utrecht) played terrible. They were down 3-1. Hooligans threw fireworks on the pitch and the match got suspended. The match was resumed three days later. Utrecht played much better en got a 3-3 draw.

enaaem··on What do Visa and Mastercard do? An intro to card networks
Every time I had issues with fraud it was with a cc. The fraud protection is just bandage for an inherently unsafe system that you are paying for yourself.

That being said, I do get that for US individuals it is completely rational to use cc's. I would do that too. If you are paying 3% Visa/MC tax anyway, then you might as well use their perks.

enaaem··on How Climate Resilient Are the Largest Cities?
Places that used to be 32C in summer are consistently hitting 36C+. It absolutely sucks to be outside in those temps. You are running from aircon to aircon. Doom scenarios of unbearable heat is definitely true.
enaaem··on Getting your hands dirty is good for you
Sounds like typical geek stuff you see on any enthousiast forum. You should check the coffee forums.
enaaem··on Top Pentagon Official Contracted Personal Lawyer to Handle Minerals Deal
This is just third world level of open corruption. If nothing is done against it, things will just get worse and not better.

First it will signal to all the lower level officials that corruption is ok. The next step isn't just corruption is ok, but it is expected. No corruption means you won't get far in your career.

enaaem··on Evidence of Fraud in an Influential Study About Procrastination
Considering the prosecution of Fauci, which does not happen anywhere else, I don't think America is ready for the next pandemic.
