These recent burst of major security issues really have shown that paid security updates from the likes of Ubuntu and CloudLinux really aren't worth the paper they're written on.
I know they cant really help it but they really have managed to kill their product. Thats about the third price hike this year. So much for the $25 computer.
Yeah for mine I've got the unifi cloud fibre gateway but currently use its sole poe port for a u7 lite. Thats on an APC UPS which will give me 3-4hrs life. Then for the ONT I've just picked up a relatively cheap Eaton UPS that should give it approximately 3-5hrs. TBH any outage longer than that and I'm out of the house for the day until its fixed!
Likely a huge amount. The recent PHP ones are a prime example of this. But it also means now more than ever they cannot be ignored or dismissed as "nah thats too hard for someone to figure out how to break in" as it's simply no longer true.
You wont have a battery. In the UK they stopped providing a battery backup when they switched to the newer ONT quite a while ago, and routers typically do not include one either.
There are a few generic router battery backup products on the market but none specifically get advertised as working on the ONT, but many do. Realistically though they're utterly pointless when you can pick up a vastly superior APC UPS for the same price.
It's hard to get too excited about anything coming from Raspberry Pi these days. Their anti consumer moves, weird accusatory social media positioning and obscene pricing just makes it all feel a bit like their relationship with B2C has gone very sour.
The tailwind ones slightly misleading. They laid off their staff, posted on twitter about it, opened a sponsorship program, made approximately $2 million, and THEN joined shopify.
Built one in 2001, there were lots of discussions about it on I think it was the Audiogon forums at the time, a whole thread of a good few hundred people building them. I seem to recall a few had been using them since the 90s as well.
Not everyone gets nausia. On .25 I had zero side effects. At .5 minor sulpher burps that lasted a few days and then again down to zero side effects. In the online communities of people on GPL-1 very few people have side effects.
Why on earth would having no side effects suck? As long as its working (weight loss) then thats the ideal scenario.
Yeah this doesn't answer the question does it. It's not even what this topic is about. Closing something a couple of months ago isnt moving the needle on the post literally talking about since the 1970s, which is the point I was very clear about making to hopefully avoid someones "well last month X happened" argument which as you full well know is nothing remotely to do with the topic at hand, however sad it may be that people have lost their jobs, which is also not the topic at hand.
Energy has only been expensive recently, and there has been zero issue with power supply beyond silly tabloid fear mongering. So between the 70s and lets say 10 years ago, the argument for expensive power really does not hold true.
Which industries? If you're going to make that claim be specific. The UK has deindustrialised since the 70s which was nothing to do with electricity costs or availability. Any recent industries leaving are not covered by the stats here so would be pretty irrelevant, which means you're not talking about those, you're talking about something else for it to cover the period between the 70s and now.
what a weird product. I'm all in on the Apple ecosystem but this seems like an obvious miss. Presumably the low price point is because its internals are incredibly basic, i mean its just not got a lot to do really has it so doesnt need anything other than probably a bunch of old binned chips.
Quite easily, even retrospectively. It has no impact on his neighbours, doesn't create an eyesore, etc. He had the planning folks round, had them speak to his architect. It's all legit and done the correct way.
Amazed anyone here isnt using an ad blocker for youtube tbh, it feel like the first thing you'd want to avoid the mess.
Ublock is still a thing. Or use Brave as thats got baked in ad blocking which can be combined with ublock to make it even more effective. Then adguard or pihole on your local network so no analytics/tracking data is still being pushed out.
They dont really need to pull out, instead on every single piece of marketing material where they talk about anything remotely close to things affected by this they mention that unfortunately they cant give it to UK users due to the governments desire to erode privacy protection, and really hammer home how bad it is.
I hope its referred to as "this is the article idiots who know nothing about modern php reference in a futile attempt to make it appear they know what they are talking about" as every time someone mentions that article it seems to be when they want to show everyone how daft they are.
