A lightweight, distributed graph database designed for modern web applications, offering real-time peer-to-peer synchronization, WebAuthn-based authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), and efficient local storage utilizing OPFS.
Add real-time, peer-to-peer multiplayer to a Godot game exported to the Web with zero servers, using GenosDB (WebRTC data channels + a reactive, persistent graph database that runs entirely in the browser). The plugin's API mirrors GenosDB, so using it teaches you the real GenosDB API.
GenosOS is now open source.

Hey everyone,
I’m a solo developer and just launched GenosDB, a lightweight, modular, and fully decentralized graph database designed for modern web applications.
It solves the complexity of real-time synchronization and trust management in peer-to-peer and local-first environments — eliminating the need for servers or centralized coordination.
The production build is completely free for both personal and commercial use.
I’ve built this entirely on my own, and now I’m looking for support to help the launch reach more people. I don’t have a marketing team or budget — just hoping the community can help spread the word.
Any feedback, comments, or upvotes on Product Hunt would mean a lot
Hi everyone, I’ve been building *GenosDB (GDB)*, a peer-to-peer graph database with zero-trust security baked into the core. *Why*: most P2P apps end up relying on centralized servers for identity and access control. GDB enforces trust cryptographically, peer-to-peer. *Features*:
* P2P sync via WebRTC/relays
* Eventual consistency with cryptographic checks
* Reactive queries with live updates
* Role-based access control + ACLs
* Data encrypted per-identity
*Note*: proprietary, but free to use without restrictions.

Say goodbye to connection failures. GenosDB's latest update makes GenosRTC smarter than ever, navigating the Nostr network to ensure your dApps are faster and more reliable.

The Guardian at the Gate: Our Software Security Manager (SSM)
Every peer running GenosDB has its own security guard: the Software Security Manager (SSM). The SSM’s job is simple but critical: it inspects every single piece of information coming from other peers and asks, “Should I believe this?” It doesn’t trust anyone by default. It verifies. Everything.
* Hybrid Delta & Full-State Synchronization Engine: GenosDB leverages a state-of-the-art hybrid synchronization protocol. The primary path utilizes a sliding-window Operation Log (Oplog) to exchange minimal, compressed Deltas, ensuring ultra-efficient network communication and minimal latency. For fault tolerance and guaranteed consistency, the engine features a robust Full-State Fallback that automatically detects heavily desynchronized peers and provides them with the complete, current graph state. This dual-mode approach offers the performance of delta-syncing with the absolute reliability of full-state reconciliation.

GenosDB isn’t aiming to replace TigerGraph, Neo4j, JanusGraph, Dgraph, or ArangoDB in traditional server-side workloads. It takes a different direction:
• Runs entirely in the browser (no backend)
• Clients are the source of truth
• Peer-to-peer sync via WebRTC
• WebAuthn + RBAC for authentication
• Local storage via OPFS
• Lightweight bundle
It targets edge-native, local-first, and real-time apps, not centralized graph clusters.
Performance: Fast local queries, sync latency depends on peers
Latency: Near-zero for local ops; sync varies
Scalability: Horizontal, client-based
Modularity: Built with pluggable components (e.g., auth, AI query)
Flexibility: Ideal for dynamic, offline-capable, decentralized apps
If you’re building a modern, peer-first system—GenosDB is a better fit than traditional server-side graph DBs.
GenosDB is a distributed graph database built for the modern web—runs entirely in the browser, uses OPFS for storage, WebAuthn for authentication, and offers a minified production-ready P2P client. The client is the source of truth.
Holepunch, on the other hand, is a decentralized app platform built on the Hypercore Protocol—great for building custom peer-to-peer apps like Keet, but it doesn’t include a database layer or client-side persistence by default.
Feature GenosDB Holepunch
Type Distributed graph DB Decentralized app platform
Storage Browser (OPFS, IndexedDB) App-defined (Hypercore, etc.)
Auth WebAuthn + RBAC Not included
P2P Sync WebRTC (via Trystero) DHT + Hypercore
Codebase Minified client lib (genosdb) Fully open (various repos)
Use Case Structured data & relationships Custom P2P protocols & messaging
GenosDB is ideal if you need a client-side graph DB with real-time P2P sync.
Holepunch is great for building from scratch with total flexibility, but higher complexity.
