There is no going back. Math is forever changed.
eternal_braid··on Vote on which of Hacker News' challenges for AI have been met
A chess scoresheet sometimes contains mistakes but chess players can figure out in many cases what was meant by thinking of what moves make sense and considering the level of play so far. Popular AIs tools fail at that.
eternal_braid··on Mag 7 starting to underperform [pdf]
Many people who replied to you seem to have missed your joke. I appreciated it.

A company can't be included in S&P 500 if it doesn't make money, no matter what its market capitalization is. See Tesla for precedent.

eternal_braid··on Millennials Are Becoming Boomers
If a resource is practically unlimited (say air), then money doesn't play a role.

Money is a way to assign priority to the acquisition of a resource, similarly to the role of a queue. If a generation is wealthier or not compared to others, it only speaks about how we share resources in society, assuming the wealth is being consumed.

For a society to be richer overall, it doesn't need more money. It needs more resources.

What company is that?
eternal_braid··on Husband and wife outed as GRU spies aiding bombings and poisonings across Europe
Another recommendation is "Person of Interest". The series was ahead of its time with the implications of AI on society. It also has spies.
eternal_braid··on Notes on my Remarkable tablet
Remarkable has that built in. They offer their own cloud service that makes it trivial to sync your files.

My flow is: 1. (Optional) Upload something on Google drive. 2. Copy it on remarkable. It syncs automatically on cloud. 3. Edit as I wish. 4. Upload final copy to Google Drive

eternal_braid··on DiffDebugging
The culture refers to commits like: "add tests" "track new files" "test passes" "tests compile" "temp" and not to logically independent changes.
eternal_braid··on Nvidia Offices Raided by French Law Enforcement
Bram has unfortunately died.
eternal_braid··on Richard Stallman reveals he has cancer in the GNU 40 Hacker Meeting talk [video]
This is great advice.

Remember, though. You can still get it, even if you do all that. Having cancer is not a moral failure. Even kids may get it.

Realizing, not in a philosophical way, one way way or another, that we will die, is something that changes you. Fewer reasons to accumulate fame and money. More reasons to make yourself happy in this life.

eternal_braid··on Scientists improve anti-tumor power of CAR-T cells
At some point, it is good to die, to make room for the next generation, no matter how great you are. Others deserve a shot, too.

You can buy the book and then download it DRM free from Anna's archive. That's what I do with the Remarkable tablet.
