evilmonkey19··on Spain train crash: 'At least 10 dead' in high-speed collision
So far it seems that at 8:30 a computer system called LZB was shutdown to some infra issues. Immediately the trains stopped in that line. At 8:36, someone said it was okay to let the trains continue over that rail at full speed as it was "all clear". At 8:53 there was the collision. So far 68 deaths.
evilmonkey19··on Two high-speed trains collide near Toledo, Spain
This is no joke in Spain. Literally, it caused unbelievable harm to hundreds of families...

evilmonkey19··on PaperPilot – Zero-Cloud, Pure-Rust PDF Engine with WASM and MCP
I'm interested in knowing how you do the i18n in Typst. Seems interesting
evilmonkey19··on The darker side of being a doctor
I completely empathized with the writer of this article. It's just incredible! It happens the same in Spain as well. Many doctors say the are burned because of the bureaucracy and efficiency.

"Cost-effectiveness and increased productivity". A hospital is not a factory. Hospitals should not get benefits as a private company. If you measure how long does it take a surgery is okey, but use it as a goal is mindblowing. Imagine there is something unexpected, what do you do? Or something goes wrong... We are humans. It's unethical to run a hospital like business, as there dealing with human lifes directly.

Thanks a lot for this article. I really like and we should talk more about this.

evilmonkey19··on MCP was always a bad idea?
I use myself the DaisyUI Blueprint MCP and it's totally worth it. Not even fable 5.1 without all that context and way of directing could work this well. At least, I feel is worth paying for that MCP.
evilmonkey19··on Thunderbird's Desktop Calendar Visual Redesign
Personally, I like the Google design and I bet most users will be familiar with. It works. Do not reinvent the wheel and just make it efficient.
evilmonkey19··on Leanstral 1.5
I use it because EU and API pricing is decent to me. And support is awesome also. They reply the same day or at most the next day, and they follow the ticket great. It isn't that bad, but neither the best.
evilmonkey19··on NixOS 26.05
I decided to move to NixOS a few months ago. In terms of OS, it was one of the best decisions I've made so far. It's awesome to have the rollback experience, upgrade whenever you want and also being able to experiment without being afraid of breaking already working stuff.

Another great benefit, is that AI can read my whole OS (good and bad at the same time, I know). This makes the AI way more accurate on giving you a good solution instead of having to scan all of your OS and dig into /etc.

Personally, I really like NixOS. It's hard but definetely worth the try. Probably not for everyone, but worth it if you're a computer scientist or need to maintain hundreds of computers.

evilmonkey19··on Show HN: Uruky (EU-based Kagi alternative) now has Image Search and URL Rewrites
I got the point. But in this case, you have a fairly low pricing (5€), therefore i guess either you want a side project, a small business in a familiar kind or to go worldwide adoption. The last case, you have to take "tech illiterate" people really seriously.
evilmonkey19··on Show HN: Uruky (EU-based Kagi alternative) now has Image Search and URL Rewrites
- the landing page looks good to me, but not to my mother for example. A slight difference in color, placing or anything is like a huge problem for her. - im sorry to hear thag. However this is being a deal breaker for my parents and gf :/ they use it A LOT! - many websites have terrible content placing and search features. But im forced to use them. I use google to get to that content.
evilmonkey19··on Show HN: Uruky (EU-based Kagi alternative) now has Image Search and URL Rewrites
I refer to the fact that many websites don't have a proper way to search the content inside the website. For instance, many goverment websites have terrible accessibility and the data seems ofuscated.

Google solves me to search content in those websites

evilmonkey19··on Show HN: Uruky (EU-based Kagi alternative) now has Image Search and URL Rewrites
I really like the idea and that it's eu-made a love it. A fee things I see with kagi which are useful and improvements:

- Hire a UI/UX person NOW! My parents and gf like using google and kagi because are easy to use.

- add the widgets like the football or the show the local store with the phone number asap. My gf is thinking about moving away from kagi because of this.

- the quick ai response is extremely useful.

- Indexing websites is super important. People doesnt know where to put the content in a website or how to make accessible. Many times i use google due to this fact.

- Make a family subscription.

- make it funny, easy to use and welcoming. The branding is SUPER important.

Good luck and I really wish you to succeed! Im paying for an account ;)

evilmonkey19··on Supply chain compromise in mistralai Python package
I use mistralai and their API is quite good. Luckily I like to pin the versions and upgrade manually a little bit later just in case of this kind of unfortunate events.
evilmonkey19··on Lanzaboote – NixOS Secure Boot
Browsing the internet about secure boot and NixOS, I found the article of one of the creators
evilmonkey19··on RaTeX: KaTeX-compatible LaTeX rendering engine in pure Rust
I have been using Typst for creating notes and it is an awesome tool. I use it to create notes on welding for my students. It makes my life so much easier compared to badsoft and its not-word-ing (you understand me).
evilmonkey19··on Why IPv6 is so complicated
Personally, i feel it is complicated because ISPs are highly afraid of trying it. I understand that such novel technology would be risky to use. But after 20+ years there are still many countries, like Spain, which are barely using it. After that much time has passed, it is already well battle-tested. At this point, you don't want to make the move either because you are too afraid of anything or you have commercial reasons.

I believe Telefonica has reasons to not use IPv6... Although in the long run is turning to be a bad decision. Look at digi :p

evilmonkey19··on Spain's parliament will act against massive IP blockages by LaLiga
Personally, myself I have been greatly impacted by this measures. Several services of mine were unavailable because LaLiga said so. No notification, no justification, they block and that's all. It has been a shame since the beginning.
evilmonkey19··on Rusternetes: A ground-up reimplementation of Kubernetes in Rust
Have you tried using this in prod? Or at least in a home-lab working?
evilmonkey19··on Zed is 1.0
Congrats to the Zed team! I really like your editor and it works surprisingly well, althought there are a few rough edges still with the python experience.

The debugger in Python FastAPI and mainly Django is not working as expected. Hopefully soon will be fixed.

evilmonkey19··on ContainerLab v0.75
Top new features in containerlab:

- Start/stop/restart selected nodes (--node flag) — no need to nuke the whole lab. (Limited to single-container nodes, veth links, etc.)

- Per-node credentials in topology files — set defaults, per-kind, per-group, or per-node. Most specific wins.

To me those are huge wins!

evilmonkey19··on Tell HN: Docker pull fails in Spain due to football Cloudflare block
Last weekend happened as well :/

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47480926

The situation every weekend is getting worse and worse. Honestly, I cannot understand how any goverment who wants freedom for its citizens can allow to block internet access to a whole country only because a private football company asks for it. I guess LaLiga is the 4th statement in Spain...

A probably will get even worse the situation with Fastly entering the equation: https://www.fastly.com/press/press-releases/fastly-and-lalig...

evilmonkey19··on Caddy Docker image in Spain is inaccessible
Another week, due to football we cannot access several services. In this case, I was doing a server maintainance and I was trying to upgrade the Caddy image. I cannot because as football is more important, we all get block :/
evilmonkey19··on GNU Pies – Program Invocation and Execution Supervisor
Pies it means "foot" in spanish
evilmonkey19··on TIL: Apple Broke Time Machine Again on Tahoe
Just for the record: I wanted to see your content, but I couldn't because in Spain when there's football they block most websites to "avoid illegal football IP lists"... LaLiga can block anything they want without any restriction, even you website which I doubt about it. I can barely navigate... I will read it later tomorrow. This why you might see 0 traffic from Spain.
evilmonkey19··on Show HN: BGP Scout – BGP Network Browser

Thank you!
evilmonkey19··on Cloudflare CEO on the Italy fines
I want just to step in by telling that Cloudflare also has networks in China. Probably not the best company to talk about freedom of speech when they collaborate with these goverments actively...

evilmonkey19··on Allow me to introduce, the Citroen C15
Best car ever! I have seen then running in Spain forever and still work as the first day. Easiest car to repair ever and never breaks!
