filt··on Show HN: Silly Morse code chat app using WebSockets
It seems like it refreshes from blank every time anyone joins or leaves the room. Which happens about once every half second. It leaves me too less time to write anything meaningful.
filt··on How to self-host a web font from Google Fonts
This is the way to do it!
filt··on Show HN: Lazy Tetris
Nice! But a ghost piece would be helpful!
filt··on Postzegelcode
Sweden has this too: https://www.postnord.se/en/private/sending/letters-and-parce...
filt··on Atari STacy (1989)
I think that the ST Book that came 2 years later is more interesting.

filt··on Engage with an unemployment algorithm
I tried it from my phone. A lot of the times, trying to sexpand the select list moved me to the previous question.

After answering all of the questions, I came to a black and empty section, scrolling down from there gave me an option to do the test again.

filt··on Ask HN: Alternatives to 1Password
Passbolt is open source and can be self hosted if you don't want (or can) run their cloud version.

https://www.passbolt.com/

It's gully open source, with a AGPL license.

filt··on Google Search Is Dying
This is so true.

Google search has become so clogged up with shit. It's time I switch to DuckDuckGo.

filt··on A 1970s boardgame takes about 1,500 hours to complete
The title is misleading. There are several board games from the 1970s that takes way less time to complete.
filt··on Show HN: I wrote a free Mac app to OCR any text on screen
I tried a bunch of different solutions but found OwlOCR to be the one with the best result.

https://owlocr.com/

I'll keep an eye on this one too though!

filt··on RaSCSI: A virtual SCSI device emulator that runs on a Raspberry Pi
Funny, I ordered it a while ago and yesterday it arrived to my post office. I'm gonna pick mine up today!
filt··on Show HN: I built Multy – Generate a short URL to share a list of websites
Some bugs:

When clicking the grid view, it does not work with åäö. And probably other character as well.

https://multy.me/x7R7AB

If I add two urls, most of the time, the last one does not show up.

If i add a URL that has a 301 to another url, it's the target url, not the one i entered, that get's published.

When clicking "create list" it takes 5-8 seconds before the list is created. This seems like a long time for such a simple operation.

filt··on I started $10K MRR business – Print My City story
I guess there are hundreds of these sites. I know of Mapiful since before.

https://www.mapiful.com/

Printmycity is just another copycat, right?

filt··on Mailgun Acquires Mailjet
I used to use Postmark but switched to Mailgun. I'm very happy. What would you say is the benefit of Postmark compared to Mailgun?
filt··on Preserving Laptop Stickers on MacBooks
Damn that's harsh. They're still your family!
filt··on Privacytools.io: Hypothetical possibility of using affiliate/referral links
I guess that what people are worried about is the fact that there is no way to really know if the prioritization that was made was based on the affiliation or not.
filt··on What was the nicest codebase you've inherited without the original author(s)?

filt··on pH7Builder: An Open Source Social Dating CMS
Feels like i traveled almost 20 years back in time
filt··on [dead]
What's most important? That people can read you post or that they share it?

It's much more likely that I share something that I read and liked than something I didn't read.

I'm much less likely to read something if the text is covered by a share-bar.

filt··on Don’t buy the MacBook Pros even on sale, in my opinion
I bought my Macbook Pro in april 2016.

By october some keys were a bit harder to press, by december spacebar and a few other buttons gave up.

I gave it to apple for warranty, it wasn't even a year old yet. They checked it and wanted $200 for just doing the chekup with no fix (as it was my fault that the keys were broken) OR i could pay $650 to get the whole top replaced.

My income is 100% dependent on having a working laptop so it was not really a choice for me. I paid the $650. This was a few months back.

Now the "2"-key is feeling numb and I'm worried i'll have to replace the top every 2-3 months...
