Thank you for the feedback, I will increase the font weight.
I'd say not great for societal well-being. I'd say it's preying on the lonely. Even with a thinly personified system prompt, some models will suddenly start calling you "babe" and be generally hyper-flirtatious.
The most optimistic light you could shine on it is: let's make an assistant that responds like a human, tells you when you're being weird, tells you when you're wrong, etc.
Hey folks! Long-time lurker here. I posted my first piece of content on what I've learned building in the conversational AI space. I'd love your thoughts on what I got wrong, if/how it was useful, general comments, etc.
Thank you for taking the time.
The small and quasi-loophole to getting a good used car deal is buying a hail damage car. I genuinely don't understand why cars were made to have shiny paint. Cars drive on dirty roads with insects and pebbles abound. Paint doesn't matter. Car washes are crazy, except to abait rust
Something like prison probably is the most productive environment one could be in. It almost completely eliminates the need for self discipline because it's all enforced.
Have people noticed the ai-assisted code "creep"? Cursor now by default applies its changes before you've even hit accept, and the tab autocomplete is getting out of control. Sometimes I'll have my cursor resting on some block of code, then suddenly Cursor suggests I delete the whole thing.
I'd love to know at what rate the long essay questions are read. Maybe we get to a point where applicants have AI write them and then no one reads them!
Let's assume refresh rate and color quality can get "good enough" to where it can work for daily work stuff, excluding gaming or graphic design. Then I see a strong argument for eink. I think we're all damaging our eyes staring at LEDs all day.
Untrap is amazing. On top of that, things like removing all apps from my home screen and turning of almost all notifications has improved my focus and my life a lot.
I recently did a side project that at first I thought would be fun, pretty complex (for me, at least), and a good learning experience. I decided to see how far AI would get me. It did the whole project. It was so un-fun and unsatisfying. My conclusion was, it must not have been technically complex enough?
idk why people here are laser focusing on "wow 2 weeks", I totally understand lightly thinking about an idea, motivations, feasibility, implementation, for a week or two
I think it's best if we all keep the hours from ~10pm to the morning sacred. Even if we are all up coding, the _reason_ I'm up coding at that hour is because no one is pinging me
from the article: LeCun has been working in some way on V-JEPA for two decades. At least it's bold, and, everyone says it won't work until one day it might
To a further extent, I know people who can't meditate or just stare at a wall for a few minutes, they must always be working or consuming or engaged in something
Glad to find a musician here with this problem, as I suspect there are many. The moment I wake up, a song starts playing. When I practice violin, it gets pretty bad.
They're not a product? Isn't Cursor on the leaderboard for fastest to $100m ARR? What about just plain usage or dependency. College kids are using chrome extensions that direct their searches to chatgpt by default. I think your connection to the internet uptake is a bit weak, and then you've ended by basically saying too much money is being thrown at this stuff, which is quite disconnected from the start of you arg.
Takes like yours are just crazy given the pace of things. We can argue all day if people are "too bullish" or literally on the market size of enterprise AI, but truly, absolutely no one knows how good these things will get and the problems they'll overcome in the next 5 years. You saying "I am confused on why people are still bullish" is implicitly building in some huge assumptions about the near future.
