firekvz··on Once again, overcompliance affects Venezuelan users, this time Cursor
Jesus, so cant use chatgpt, can't use claude, can't use cursor now

So much AI, so much models, so much whatever bullshit they launch and can't properly examinate ofac lists? Ofac list barely have like 50 individuals and you rather ban a whole country just because 50 corrupt guys who will actually never use any of those services?

Whats wrong with these companies?

firekvz··on Odoo: Open-Source ERP
Open core, not open source, only for the Community edition, wait till you notice that you will need enterprise license since most powerfull features/addons are enterprise only and you end up paying more money for "open source" ERP than normal ERP
firekvz··on Ask HN: Is YC funding sanctions evasion? The case of Kontigo Inc in Venezuela
Thank you, I Will fill the form and hope something happens

Among the crazy things that Kontigo did, was that they allowed Venezuelans to open an US bank account, without any check or anything, you just had to put random "passport number" on a field (no kyc or anything) and they would issue you a chase checkings account number.

heres the ig advertising for that service: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DMljYtUsrDI/

anyways, they got shut down by chase few days ago:

firekvz··on Launch HN: Karsa (YC W25) – Buy and save stablecoins internationally
you will be surprised, but it's all about corruption oportunities.

In venezuela right now, there's a YC startup (2023), "Kontigo" [1], who's part of it, they went all in with this "stablecoin" bullsh*t and manage to get a license to operate in US (stripe) and with Venezuelans users with absolutely NO KYC, fully connected and "licensed" by the venezuelan "National Superintendence of Cryptoassets and Related Activities" a.k.a SUNACRIP

Take note that this SUNACRIP had closed operations since 2020 when a huge corruption scandal hit the govt, they used crypto to run corruption operations and money laundering [2][3][4] and somehow SUNACRIP, an organization that is not even working or functioning, this january licensed "Kontigo" to operated in the country, the founders themselves made a bragging video on instagram about "noone expecting it", wich is hillarious, you can find the video at https://www.instagram.com/p/DFd8ouoNKuI/

Anyways, the corrupted govt, approved a YC startup to exchange instantly USDC to VEF using venezuelans banks APIs and USA banking system (plaid, stripe, etc), without any KYC, without any sanctions screening, nothing, the reason for this approval is pretty simple, they doing the money laundering process super easy for them lol, they helping venezuelan corrupts officials bypass sanctions and easy money laundering.

I'm absolutely baffled at the situation and wondering how the fuck this happened, I myself know lower/mid size venezuelan corrupt officials using Kontigo to instantly wash money into USDC, and all of this is backed by YC itself.

And inbefore any user comes here telling me that "venezuela is sanctioned" and whatever other random thing, this company absolutely doesnt help venezuelans, it only helps corruption and launder money from corruption and drugs

firekvz··on Bitcoin has made a new all-time high price
noone knows, but the real question is why any govt hasnt done any significative investigation or attack on tether? the only explanation i see (from the US pov) is that they actually collaborating in deeper investigations so they let it coexist, otherwise it makes no sense how legitimated it is knowing that it's pure fake money and it's not backed up at all

bitcoin wont be real till tether dissapears

firekvz··on Bitcoin has made a new all-time high price
how you guys interpretate all this price swings with barely no trade volumen increase?

i think the whole crypto narrative it's slowly dying, okay its ATH now, but yeah, we still got this huge elephant in the room called tether and well u know

firekvz··on Suspicious data pattern in recent Venezuelan election
cause they did not release any official statement, they only read those numbers on national TV and 8 hours later they made maduro sign the papers as a winners.

now, more than 72 hours after elections, we still dont know the results and there is not a single place to check the acts or the numbers by pooling center.

it was all fraud.

firekvz··on 2024 Venezuelan presidential election results, oposition's collected data

firekvz··on Land value tax in online games and virtual worlds (2022)
cool read but this article misses pretty much the biggest factor in the whole history and is that no matter how much you think about this "problem", it will always be defeated by the players will to win or take advantage

lets remember after all, games and virtuals worlds, are that, games and virtuals worlds, so players have pretty much nothing to lose in trying to exploit whatever system you put in place

so if you are a gamemaster/game dev/etc, noone cares how much time or resources you invest in thinking how to solve the land crisis or housing crisis, you wont solve it and at the end if you put the most complex system or the most punisheable on you will most likely end up with your player base actually quitting or not interested in playing your game or following your rules.

so its actually just about to just accepting that there will be a land crisis or housing crisis and that you will just have to look the other way and let it be, cause at the end you might just end up killing your own game by going with the full try hard way.

theres actually silly solutions that have been proven to be good, like for example, adding new areas with the updates thus rendering the old areas useless and having people repeat the cycle of trying to be the new ones in those areas

or the favourite of all the game publishers, just tax with ingame credits that can only be purchased with $$$, so everyone is happy haha

btw, most of games end up failing trying to solve this land crisis or housing crisis cause while the focus so much on that, they have bigger problems that affect direct on it like currency inflation, RMT, gold farming and even more deep problems like cheating/botting

the funny thing about outlook is not even mentioned here, it seems that they have absolutely no spam filter? he has infinite supply of money to pay any fine, i dont really understand the fine amount, whats the porpouse of it, u either force them to destroy the whole exchange or just try to make their complete reputation go down but this looks like the govt getting some pocket money and letting them keep doing nasty things overseas and thats it?

firekvz··on LK-99 is an online sensation but replication efforts fall short
despite all the bad things and random people using it for ego and stuff, its the best thing that can really happen to tech nowadays.

With all the AI/chatgpt news, a bunch of people got involved in what you call "spectator sport", leading to a whole new set of opportunities and growth, people who would never touch a pc or new software related tech, got involved, others invested, other simple became consumers and every single bit of it its good for the market.

Imagine you are a 15 y.o student right now browsing tiktok with no interest in chemistry whatsoever and suddenly you see a video about this superconductor and you get all hyped and next thing you know is that the student who had no interest on chemistry, now is passionate about it.

If all the LK-99 thing is a fiasco, at least we can say that it somehow helped getting the attention of people who would actually keep investigating and maybe do find the actual superconductor we need. And this can be said about every subject like this.

So yeah, I'm okay getting some random people having nonsense internet discussions.

Everyone here should already know that

firekvz··on We will not pursue the potential acquisition of FTX
They slowly built/clean their reputation, bitcoin going up to 70k made everyone just forget the past.

But yeah, they are probally the most shady ones, but the fact they actually have no offices and no govs after them, makes it easier to hide your operations, its the same for tether that has managed to get so big with absolutely no offices, no employees or anything.

Both are best friends.

firekvz··on We will not pursue the potential acquisition of FTX
They just hire people from other places, cheaper labor, I know at least 4 southamericans who worked for them in the past, 100% remote, same talent as an US dev, and 1/4 of the cost
firekvz··on FTX’s financial black hole leaves Binance balking at rescue plan
You are right, but we are talking about binance shorting big amounts of tokens, not you shorting some amount in their own game

Tell me who at the same level of insider info, gonna OTC borrow you millions of FTT for you to short, when most likely that person/entity owning millions of FTT is already trying to protect their value?

You have to remember that when you short and you bet for price going down, the other side is betting for price going up or at least for the price to stay at the same levels, the person borrowing you has to be constantly doing DD to be sure that its the right moment to borrow the asset, and its pretty obvious that someone holding big amounts of FTT was/is very aware of whats comming

if I was an OTC shorter and had millions of FTT and you see Binance CEO comming to you to short, I inmediatly said no and cashed out those FTT instead of shorting, cause clearly at those levels there is certainty of what they are doing.

firekvz··on FTX’s financial black hole leaves Binance balking at rescue plan
Is not expensive, it was actually really cheap, the tokens Binance has are from ICO stages, OTC deals, trades for other tokens, etc.

Binance or CZ paid never paid face cash value for any those tokens, simple as that.

And most important, he hasn't purchase FTX. So it was just tweets and have your PR team contact major crypto news sites

firekvz··on FTX’s financial black hole leaves Binance balking at rescue plan
we are all ignorants about the reality here, so we are all guessing

but when you have to guess stuff about the crypto market, you literally have to think the worst things or the best things and you will be right

my guess here is simple, CZ has liquidated everything that can be liquidated that doesnt make him look bad, hes deep in the very same business than FTX/Sam was, he doesnt need to look the balance sheet, chances are his balance sheets are similar or worse haha

So he probally liquidated longs if any, he probally did OTCs with other tokens/assets and just kept the FTT as a PR move to pretend he was a nice guy, anyways having an amount of $ "lost" by a token that was never worth anything is still 0 lost, he most likely got those tokens in exchange for other tokens worth nothing, or during ICOs stage so pretty much hes not losing any cash even tho you will read people saying how much he lost, remember all of that is nominal value, not real cash value at the end, the very same reason things are falling now.

firekvz··on FTX’s financial black hole leaves Binance balking at rescue plan
he definetly did, where do you think the insolvency comes from ?
firekvz··on FTX’s financial black hole leaves Binance balking at rescue plan
Noone taking the other side of that short.

Is entirely fallacy/fantasy when people talks about shorting on crypto market.

You can't win shorting actual crashes in unregulated markets, the only way u win shorting in crypto is that you were lucky to guess what a whale/org was doing at the same time so pretty much a russian roulette

Marketmakers are not legit and all the movements are pretty much fabricated, its just not regulated and its obvious
