You said LLM need human oversight and it’s true, but it does not imply you have to read the code.
I think we are going towards a place where code no longer makes sense, you just describe what you want in English, and the LLM just builds directly in machine code. You then build different verification tests to make sure the program is doing what it’s suppose to do.
Also, why vibe coded apps are prone to have viruses, and non vibe coded apps are virus free and have perfect security?
If it's open source, you can check the code, vibe coded or not (I doubt the majority does).
If it's a commercial app, the developer(s) probably care more about making money than writing the "perfectly secure" app, vibe coded or not.
Don’t
The left side us Ubuntu/Fedora. The right side is Arch. The middle is all these tech-fluencer-wanna-bes custom-made-ai-enhanced distros.
Sure, they still exist, but they are priced and marketed towards a specific class of people, and not the mass. And with software it’s even harder as software was never targeted at the mass. Software was always a by product of a car, a tv, or your fridge. No ordinary folk ever said “I’m going to go a buy WinZip now”. They simply had a variant of WinZip available with whatever computer they bought. There is simply no category of people who are willing to pay for “high quality hand crafted software”, except for perhaps a few ideologically motivated people.
Software development “lost” because it was seen as “something that comes for free with a computer”, and not something that people have to actively buy, like they buy TVs, fridges, or paintings.
Use containers for development. And reduce the amount of third party deps you import into your projects. This is only going to get worse.
The problem is I can no longer tell the difference between AI and non-AI writing. Maybe my brain got bad, maybe everyone now writes like AI writes.
I no longer know.
I understand using LLMs as tools to help you with your hobby, but I think when “Claude spends hours debugging it” it probably is no longer a hobby, but an outsourced job.
