freikwcs··on Ask HN: Any Need for Office to PDF Conversion API?
There has to be some need for this in the legal industry. Good luck!
freikwcs··on Ask HN: Why is the last 10% always so hard?
That 10% is the difference between a hobby and a product.
freikwcs··on I just launched my bootstrapped startup. Pray for me.
Great concept - good luck!
freikwcs··on Open Coffee Club Atlanta - May 20th, 3PM
We have funding and customers. That means I actually work in an office and have responsibilities. Not easy to leave before 7pm.

"Startup" life is a lot different after you get out of the garage.

freikwcs··on Open Coffee Club Atlanta - May 20th, 3PM
How the heck does anyone meet for coffee at 3pm on a Wednesday? I love OCC, but it would help if these events were 8am/lunch/evening to at least give those with real jobs a chance to make them.

That being said, hope to make it.

freikwcs··on Ask HN: Zillow is trying to acquire my app + domain for "a couple hundred bucks", advice?
Tell them you want a job at Zillow for $150k/year. You win, and they don't give in to your negotiations.
freikwcs··on Reality Check: What does Gartner really do?
They're great at looking smart, but anyone that has taken stats 101 can see right through their surveys. Attended a conference once where people just drilled the so-called expert of all the flaws in the data-collection methodology. Felt kinda bad for the person.
freikwcs··on Good book for economics
Not much else to add except I would recommend picking up two books as well.

1. A standard price theory text that will give you the basic tools of economists.

2. A book that provides real-world applications illustrating how these tools are used. (I agree - Basic Economics by Sowell is a great place to start.)

freikwcs··on Ask YC: Opinion of new startup Simplist?
Solid design. Don't necessarily get the value prop. in a world of Google Docs/wikis - try to make that more obvious. Good start though.
freikwcs··on Wisconsin Sucks for Startups
You add so much value.
freikwcs··on Startup scene in Dallas?
How is Austin?
freikwcs··on Any Hackers in Charlotte, NC?
We're in Clemson. We make it up to Charlotte every now and then - definitely interested in some sort of meetup.
freikwcs··on Guy Kawasaki launches Alltop, an "online magazine rack"
I'll show you an online magazine rack
freikwcs··on Balancing startup and school - with a Jolt
The no sleep is tough for me. Historically, I've required about eight solid hours. Lately, I've found that with a morning exercise routine I can cut about two hours out of my night's sleep and still function fine. Anything less than six hours and I start to require a power nap during the day.
freikwcs··on Ask YC: I'm pitching to an angel. How do I value my startup?
Often the usual response is something similar to "we are anxious to go through a formal valuation process should we determine this is an appropriate possible investment." It's certainly a bit of a chicken answer, but you can provide numbers such as revenue, product developments, and users to give an idea of what a proper valuation would be. The idea is to not price yourself out of their range during the first conversation.
