fsethi··on Ask HN: Who are your favorite poets?
Rumi, Bukowski, Gibran, Poe.

One of my favourite poems is by Charles Bukowski and it has this wonderful recursive quality to it. It's called "Oh Yes".

there are worse things than being along but it often takes decades to realize this and most often when you do it's too late and there's nothing worse than too late.

fsethi··on Ask HN: Pragmatic Fitness?
Below is one of the best articles about the "truth" of exercising I have ever read.

In sum: Lift. Move. Regularly.

The lifting (building of muscle) is seemingly more important than anything else.

fsethi··on What was your best passive income in 2014?
My social game (for the last 3 consecutive months) has brought in about $8000 - $10,000 a month. Pretty consistently averaging about $300 a day. Generally spend about 4 hours a month on it total. To note: The developer I work with spends much more time on it than I do; but it is not a focus / priority for either of us. It took about 18 months to get it to this point. It probably got to break even in roughly 5-6 months.
fsethi··on Ask HN: Examples of startups where engineers design the UX
The (original) designer for Pinterest and Gumroad is also an engineer:

fsethi··on When someone blocks ad's what really happens?
From my experience, the ad blocker is actually blocking the ad coming from the incoming server, so no impression is counted.

If you are using something that replaces the ad with another image (Add-Art for example), the underlying ad is likely being served.

The latter is good for the publisher, good for the user, not so good for the ad network or the brand / utility purchasing the ad space.

fsethi··on Ask HN: What do you do when your cubicle is next to somplace noisy?
Short term, this site is helpful:

fsethi··on Ask HN: What are some Good Books you have read in past one year or so..
Some old that I have re-read, some new, all worth your time:

Old Man And The Sea - Ernest Hemingway

IQ84 - Haruki Murakami

The Last Lecture - Randy Pausch

On Writing - Stephen King

When Bad Things Happen To Good People - Harold Kushner

Catcher In The Rye - J.D. Salinger

Notes To Myself - Hugh Prather

fsethi··on Ask HN: How much equity to give to developer (pseudo-founding)?
Sounds good. Happy to share in equity. Will confirm if he wants to be a founder and go from there. Cheers!
fsethi··on Ask HN: Lost your girlfriend because of your startup?
I suspect it happens quite often-- I understand it intimately.
fsethi··on Ask HN: Recommendations for PR Agency needed
Try Atomic PR-- the founder of Mint's says it was one of his most important decisions to use PR, and Mint used them. I've also read otherwise (in general) about PR, so tread softly. Good luck!
fsethi··on Ask HN: Rate my startup, The Coupon Doc
Seems like a promising idea, although I suspect it can only be U.S. based due to various medical governing bodies in various countries?
fsethi··on SOPA lives—and MPAA calls protests an "abuse of power"
Apparently the MPAA is made up of a small group of individuals nobody really knows. They are generally shrouded in secrecy and have very odd subjective systems. They tried it with Howard Hughes 90 years ago, ultimately they must adapt.
fsethi··on We need another communication platform... fb/Twitter/email don't cut it
I think we do need to talk with our neighbors, but I suspect doing it in person rather than online would strengthen your community connections more so.
fsethi··on Ask HN: Minimum viable product release private or public?
Agreed -- tangible honest feedback from real people is invaluable. Thanks for the feedback.
fsethi··on Ask HN: Minimum viable product release private or public?
Thanks for the input. Agreed. I come from a design background so releasing something hacked together is a challenge for me. Furthermore, it really is a MVP-- there are definitely UX issues and functionality I would like to address/add, but resources are limited.
fsethi··on Ask HN: Minimum viable product release private or public?
Frankly, this is a sort of hack job @pud would be happy about it. Had an idea, busting it out in a few days and seeing what happens.
