fud101··on "I'm on a war footing": Terry Tao and the crisis in math
The reason we fell first is because we embraced the copilots. We used them heavily, this gave them more and more training data on top of the code they slurped up from our using their assistants. Soon the assistant became the agent who killed the human.

They also had a rich starting point from open source code (which we somehow gave up without realising it). All of this won't happen as efficiently for these other fields, but it will happen, much in the way you've described. We (swes) turned out to be a rather dumb group of people, which is hilarious since we think we're clever.

The only moat we have is the human to human element, we need to talk to other humans in the business. Customers, etc. But once they're replaced by machines or automation, then machine to machine communication will be the preferred mode of communication and work and the legacy humans will be increasingly cut out of the loop. Human in the loop is a death sentence we just don't realise it.

fud101··on "I'm Embarrassed on Behalf of the Tech Industry"
I hate homeassistant. Used it for years, on and off. Currently I have it running on a rpi somewhere, I dont know how to access it, I don't want to get dependent on it and have it break when the card dies or a bad update happens. I hate home automation.
fud101··on Codeberg Bans Cryptocurrency Projects
Ok codeberg, I see you. Time to make an account there.
fud101··on Elixir v1.20: Now a gradually typed language
Should large codebases even exist?
fud101··on 'No way to prevent this,' says only package manager where this regularly happens
Hilarious but would they not abuse LLMs for this if so?
fud101··on Idempotency is easy until the second request is different
I'm not as smart as you folks but doesn't durable execution being a part of the solution help a lot in this respect?
fud101··on Local AI needs to be the norm
Literally will break overnight when some key dependency changes. Your LLM might not be able to fix it. Then i guess you regenerate it all from scratch? Sounds exhausting tbh.
fud101··on I let AI build a tool to help me figure out what was waking me up at night
This is another dumb AI project idea which i would have done at some point too if I didn't know better. It's one of those things where doctors will just go ahead with the fix even if they haven't evaluated the exact diagnosis, since the fix will probably be the same regardless. The human mind wants certainty though so I get it, but the fix doesn't need to be preceded by a pinpointing of the exact cause.
fud101··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% workforce
I suppose you meant 'not' not 'now' yeah?
fud101··on Should I run plain Docker Compose in production in 2026?
>2-3 miniPCs, cloudflare, tailscale, and k3s can save (possibly tens of) thousands on SaaS products, and would probably scale you to a company of dozens AND host your product.

outline a simple real world system to illustrate?

fud101··on AI Product Graveyard
Never heard of most of these. What a waste of a click.
fud101··on Where the goblins came from
He's clearly mimicking one of the clankers.
fud101··on Where the goblins came from
Will the RLVR mechanism be improved upon or is it in some sense optimal?
fud101··on "People who don't use AI will be left behind"
>What's with all the anti-AI sentiment here? Is it a bunch of unemployed devs?

so what? if you aren't part of inflating the hype beast you're a victim of it. Eventually no one will be left to hype it because we'll all have lost the battle.

fud101··on Ghostty is leaving GitHub
I was too loyal to mercurial, only switched to git/github long after the battle was lost and won.
fud101··on An AI agent deleted our production database. The agent's confession is below
its in the clientside UI of the api caller that he'd want the DELETE confirmation, surely.
fud101··on GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing
Appreciate the info. Have you got a similar opinion of the 'convert to monthly' option they've also provided?
fud101··on GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing
Thanks this is helpful. I am on my first month of annual Pro. Should I keep it or cancel it (ask for a refund)?
fud101··on I am building a cloud
Isn't Dokku a worthy mention anymore?
fud101··on Israeli soldiers using sexual assault to force Palestinians out of West Bank
This is some tired fanfiction no one asked for. But please, keep ringing the bell of victimhood, it's surely going to be well received this time.
fud101··on ReMarkable firing up to 40% of their workforce
> 50% of consumer spending is by 10% of the population

This is startling.

fud101··on Clojure: Transducers
Thanks. So is this not an optimiser Clojure runtime can do for you automatically? I find the first one simpler to read and understand.
fud101··on Clojure: Transducers
These sound wild in terms of promise but I never understood them in a practical way.
fud101··on OpenClaw: The Complete 2026 Deep Dive(Install, Cost, Hardware, Reviews and More)
bruh, why not just post the prompt. no one wants to read this slop
fud101··on AI got the blame for the Iran school bombing. The truth is more worrying
Directionally correct is the other kind of emdash.
fud101··on AI got the blame for the Iran school bombing. The truth is more worrying
The terrorist is Hegseth and co.
fud101··on AI got the blame for the Iran school bombing. The truth is more worrying
Yeah, going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there boss. The man Hegseth in all his 'no quarter' bravado is only affirming his own mother's claim that he is a piece of shit. respectfully of course, I would not put it past him to kill some kids for a political or terrorism reason (the parents).
fud101··on Scott Hanselman says he's working on Windows local accounts
He is a full time nauseating AI shill. If you happen to listen to his recent appearance on Software Engineering Radio podcast, you may just die of cringe. I had my final straw moment on AI hype during that podcast and my first I wish someone would bully that nerd moment.
fud101··on Astral to Join OpenAI

fud101··on Thoughts on OpenAI acquiring Astral and uv/ruff/ty
