Both history and progress are driven by "insane" people.

When can I have it in Toronto?:D

Looks like a cool idea. I definitely need something like this.

The quickest solution in such a case would be a POW change that can put Russian miners at a significant disadvantage. Significant could be a factor of 10 or larger.

Also, any attempt to kill one decentralized value system would prove to be a wasteful process in the long run since the cost to create another such system is disproportionately smaller than the cost to attack/destroy them.

This sort of attacks have been happening for over 5 months in crypto.

Kraken published a highly useful blog post on it. Do give it a read. http://blog.kraken.com/post/153209105847/security-advisory-m...

This only works though if the pretraining and your training, both are with the data in the same domain. Even in that you will have issues if the data was from same domain but different in representation, e.g. 2D and 3D image datasets.

Curation does seem to be the key.

There is plenty of vanity and marketing on instagram though.

I personally have a preference of opinions over pure vanity.

The second part quite accurately describes most of the generalization techniques. Especially when it comes to deep learning.

> Bitcoin is by far the most decentralized, most secure

Both of these are highly contentious if not outright wrong.

Bitcoin's network is the most centralized at the moment. Bitmain is a great example of that. As for security, Ethereum is currently spending more $$ per block than Bitcoin to secure the chain.

Iconomi does this already and much more.

You can find a comprehensive list of dapps here: http://dapps.ethercasts.com

Developer activity in Ethereum is increasing at a very fast pace. This is only supposed to accelerate after the upcoming metropolis upgrade hard fork.

Please update us/me when you do. I'm also working on the same problem, would love to chat.

The article mentions deep learning as being one of the technologies that is being utilized here. I find it difficult to put all the pieces together on the efficacy of the system and the technologies being used as Deep learning is one of the most un-explanatory technology. That in turn raises some questions over the effectiveness of a system that predicts social and financial unrest. How did you do that?

If you want to train yes. AFAIK, they are releasing a pre-trained model which you can just use right away. There is no sense in "topology" of this yahoo specific model as it is a caffenet.

To be precise they are only releasing the already trained model. The associated dataset is not being made public.

Thus, it is meant to be for off the shelf use rather than being able to tinker with the network to produce nuanced results.

What you are saying is true to a large extent. What is also true is that a significant percentage of westerners continuously look for the next big shocking thing out of India to "enrich" their experience of life. That is also quite exploitative of the unfortunate people who are the subject of all this drama. There is this thing called "poverty tourism" in Europe. One of my acquaintances in Western Europe didn't think that it was worth visiting India cause he has seen it all in China. At that point I had no idea of what to make of that.

This bit is almost certainly made up somewhere in the information chain of this article.

I grew up in an Indian village, not so well off. So were most of my relatives in the neighboring villages. I never witnessed or heard of such a thing.

In some places (covering around 5-10% population of India) there is a tradition of washing the feet of your elders on some ceremonial occasions but that water is never consumed. It mostly goes to some sacred tree or as an offering to some local deity, meaning that it is thrown around the deity in symbolism.

Edit: grammar

That second tweet is pure gold.

Buut... It's just so difficult. Isn't it? The lure of that grand empire that we had. :/

From the video it looks like the fire didn't start where you'd typically have your first stage motors.

The unnecessary scaremongering goes on even after the vote has been called...

Incredible news. We have all heard all of the positive coverage and how tremendous it is. What I find interesting is that how come nobody is talking about the potential of AlphaGo as a war strategizing AI?

If you provide terrain(elevation etc.) information, AlphaGo can be used to corner opponents into an area surrounded by mountains where AlphaGo is sitting on the mountains. We all know what happens after that.

Don't want to kill the party but I am completely surprised with the lack of chatter in this direction.

Thanks. That did the job.

> I should also say that it's somewhat clear that Sedol made one suboptimal move, and AlphaGo capitalized on it.

Can you please indicate this time in the video of the game? Thanks a lot.

> And now an AI without emotion, philosophy or personality just comes in and brushes all of that aside and turns Go into a simple game of mathematics

Well, I am of the opinion that mathematics is the language that subsumes all other kinds of languages and line of thoughts. In the end we shall be able to describe every idea or thought in purely mathematical form.

Even though we do not have a complete understanding of exactly how the networks work, what is the function that they are minimizing but what we do know is that it is a mathematical function i.e. it has been mathematically modeled. So, I think it is safe to say that it does turn it into a game of mathematics.

So these companies act as a kind of payment bank in this capacity.

AI in large part is supervised learning. I think the more important question here is when that becomes feasible for general purpose stuff for facebook.

This is factually incorrect.

The reason that solar power projects have been executed without any major controversy (otherwise all so visible in India in relation to any big project) has mainly been possible because India has a huge chunk of arid/non-arable land in the West and center of India. All of the major solar project so far and all of the planned one's have come up in these areas.

TO what extent does it use ML for all the clustering? Does it work all of the times?

I can not imagine what'd happen if it doesn't work all of the times?

I like the colors aspect though and and would love to try it out.
