gingabriska··on The more you learn, the faster you can learn
If you are in industry and you've some experience, highly likely you are already doing what the author claims to be his fast learning secrets. There are actually no deep secrets I find in his post, all of those things atleast I instictively do. Even my friends use same approach, so I thought it's so common that I don't have to write a blog post about it.
gingabriska··on Manmohan Singh on the economy: “India cannot afford to continue down this path.”
Well inflation has to be at some healthy level.

Low inflation means there isn't much money in market chasing goods and services. It can happen if there is simply no demand for goods/services. So you don't see price for goods/services going up.

High inflation means too much money chasing limited goods, leading to price of goods and services soar.

Both are bad for the economy.

In a country like India, government expenditure drives economy. If government hoards all cash and sits atop it, sucking market dry - it's bad for economy but you can claim lower inflation only for sometime before the supply also adjusts to the current demand, shrinking the economy and then cycle continues, you end up with slower growth rate or growth reversed.

Look at growth rate, what do you see?

> Natural selection means that a trait like male homosexuality, if it had a genetic component, couldn't have persisted over evolutionary time if the individuals that carry the genes associated with that trait are not reproducing.

Not really, if we go back to time people were prosecuted for being homosexual. They used to have a wife and kid but still practised homosexuality in private or killed their desires and gave it up at great pain and sufferings.

It will take time for natrual selection to remove Homosexual genes (if we believe they exit) if they've full freedom and aren't forced to have kids.

>but why would anyone in their right mind decide to be gay like 200 years ago, and risk being ostracized from the community, being sexually unsatisfied and/or severely punished (including sterilization and/or death

Some people are way to powerful to be punished like Leonardo Da Vinci who apparently everyone knew was Homosexual but remained close to power because of his importance (mostly due to skill)

Even being terrorist or mass shooter is condemned by society but doesn't stop the determined ones.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying being homosexual is like being a terrorist, just comparing the condemned part of the situation which used to be the case before.

gingabriska··on Study Finds No Single Genetic Cause of Same-Sex Sexual Behavior
I wonder what if it's a learned behaviour.

I used to very odd kid and mostly spent my life around girls from very early age.

I almost never had male friends which ofc changed in late teenage.

Now, don't find females that attractive and mostly spend time with guys.

Don't call me sexist or smth but I find it's more fun to work with guys. That's my preference.

gingabriska··on Depression, anxiety rising among U.S. college students
I'd mention one thing which I think no one has mentioned so far.

Today we've more freedom than ever, more access to people and more prosperity than ever.

This creates a dynamic were people cluster according to their outlook. No one accepts a "downer" in a happy group.

I'd say more happy, more prosperous country, a country which has more freedom will see higher sucide rates due to loneliness.

I wouldn't be surprised if the examples of this like Scandinavian countries have higher sucide rate if not highest.

I'd be lot better being a "sad" person with other sad people than being the only sad person among all other happy people.

gingabriska··on Depression, anxiety rising among U.S. college students
>Viewing life - success, output, fulfillment etc - through lenses like this is the issue IMO.

Having met people on streets, I can tell you not everyone thinks like this. It's mostly the audience of this site who are high achievers and focused individuals, they need some way to gauge meaningfulness of their lives and this is how they chose to do it.

I've one friend who only plants trees and another friend who is always creating RC vehicles and uploading videos of his experiments on YouTube. They are happy.

gingabriska··on Depression, anxiety rising among U.S. college students
It's the lack of meaningful connections which is on rise.

When my wife was at university, I was shocked being a pretty woman - how lonely she was.

She did try to talk with people and even hang out on weekend with a girl group but it seemed as if during the weekdays nobody had any time for her.

This is the main reason I think.

Men are being treated as disposable just look at the male Vs female sucide statistics. Present society is very toxic to be a man. There is nowhere to get support from if you are a "weak man" for the society, a label which is slapped on you the moment you talk about your issues.

In relationships, there is a new trend that relationship ends when initial spark ends. If you go to any relationship advice forum, you can see people dumping their partner because the initial spark ended, it's too easy to find a new partner for some. Nobody bothers putting much effort into a relationship.

gingabriska··on The Modern Man Is Getting Stoicism All Wrong
>Also, I think many women are rightly cautious about a potential mate who seems to be trying too hard.

Actually I never tried too hard because I see trying to hard as not respecting yourself enough.

Funny enough, I also found my current wife after turning stoic.

gingabriska··on The Modern Man Is Getting Stoicism All Wrong
>I'm betting the vast majority of women would be totally fine with your stoicism. (And would prefer it to a lot of the alternatives

When I used to work for someone, I refused advance of a coworker and she got me fired. Some people can't handle that I do not acknowledge their existence, I do not make them feel important, I do not give them attention.

gingabriska··on The Modern Man Is Getting Stoicism All Wrong
>You need to deal with the issues you have, you cannot simply wish them gone. If you don’t deal with it, you will definitely carry it with you way longer then you should

My wife is a psychologist. She is always interested in listening to me, and I've told her whatever I think and she's ok with that.

I don't think I've some issues. There were some women who told me I am exceptionally handsome, they stay with me for sometime - then I found them cheating. Some were with me for money. And my wife so far is the only person who isn't like any of the ones I met in past, so there is some hope. But I also told her, I assume that one day you'll cheat on me too.

I don't think they've wronged me or anything. I don't hold grudge against women, it's just I realize their nature and have made peace with it. Ofc, all my conclusions come from my own observation. If you did not have such major setbacks in life, I am happy for you.

Thing is, you think I am rejected by women - so I am bitter.

But reality is far from it. I've friend's girlfriend hitting on me, provoking me to cheat with them on their boyfriends. I've married women at office coming to me to again cheat on their husbands. Then the ones I loved, cheated on me and left me. I've so many opportunities to sleep with women that I think there are no feelings involved in anything when it comes to them and they just like tingles and money.

gingabriska··on The Modern Man Is Getting Stoicism All Wrong
I am happy with my looks, there will always be people far more successful, far more handsome - I've made peace with that long ago.

I am in A++ health, won't risk it for any surgery.

gingabriska··on The Modern Man Is Getting Stoicism All Wrong
In my case it's not about uncertainty. I am rich, I've got cash, I've assets. I can buy whatever I want, I can use and consume any forbidden drug.

They sell me fake world. Then my fake world breaks like a shattered mirror and suddenly I am helpless, feeling pain, depressed, turning towards drugs.

Why I am so unhappy with my life? Because I am not born with exceptionally good looks, I see my girlfriend chasing guy who looks better than me but isn't as successful as me? Should I be happy about it? The girls who come for me, want resources - they fake love well. Suddenly, love disappears if I stop paying bills.

As a man with means, I can choose to take mind altering drug and numb myself down but I choose to handle psychological pain through philosophy and self realization.

I want to accept things as they are. I don't feel wronged, betrayed, I don't hold grudge towards anyone. I accepted the fact, what people are doing around me are doing whatever they want to do, whatever they feel serves their interest. This way of thinking can't be toxic.

The ones I thought I loved, cheated on me with prisoner (life destroyed but looks big and dangerous), another cheated with some banker (huge debts but exceptionally good looks)

And people take very low dose of this drug to treat hairloss.

But it has very high possiblity of experiencing side effects

I also learned about this.

There is a guy I met in gym who was asking me why I take protein shakes when they are so expensive.

He told me he takes some protein injected into bloodstream which is more effective and produces better results than fake optimum nutrition protein I get from Amazon.

So I asked him to show that protein, guess what, it was anabolic steroids. Sure did it produce amazing results and he thinks side effects are because Rahu in his Kundali.

I did Cocaine with my girlfriend to give her company, a few months maybe.

Then I convinced her to give it up after I did so myself. Now it's long time, and we are clean.

Why did we stop? I always knew drugs are bad for us, they promote neurotoxicity and damage brain. I tried to make her understand this many times but one time she nearly died with drug overdose after that she changed and we quit.

Few changes I noticed is that I became lot less combative in my arguments, became less concerned about my political and religious beliefs.

And more or less, I lost the anexity issue I used to have.

Bad see effects? I do not know of any, I've good long term memory and I do not notice any change in that either.

I understand drugs are mind altering substance and possibly neurotoxic which could be fatal for our brain.

Worst thing is that, many people get addicted to these and are never able to walk out of addiction. Luckily, that was not our fate.

So I think not all people are addicted to drugs and many can quit it at will whenever they want.

Legalisation would be better, although you can buy any drug in Europe but problem is that if you are caught with it or you overdose then how do you call ambulance? Many would be terrified if they overdosed and will die.

Talking with my doctor friend in EU, he says you can deny that you took drugs and claim that someone else put that in your drink or something and the case ends there but how many know it?
