The other 51 percent for are sophisticated economic analysts who ended up hoarding toilet paper and pasta during Covid.

> For those that went through Brexit, can you detail when the larger population realized it was stupid?

49 percent for sure knew and voted against.

Long long before.

Anyone feel confident that the companies who benefit massively from MITRE are even now planning to step in and provide significant funding?

here he is training with Henry Cooper:

To install an AI update you didn't ask for, do not need and cannot turn off?

CEO's have a "replication crisis" and they join and leave companies on huge salary and equity packages having totally failed to turn around or deliver the growth they were hired for. The fact that they did it in one place is no guarantee they can "reproduce" their first success and chance has more of a role than anybody will admit.

As somebody who has lived through about three decades of Powerpoints that begin and end with

where on earth are the management consultancies supposed to steal their "ideas" from to generate new fads now. I'm for sure none of them have had an original thought of their own.

B52 projected to last till 2050

> It’s a new plane!

First flown in 2006. Introduced 2016.

The company with a board of directors responsible to shareholders noping out of anywhere isn't a choice.

see Apple's 14 billion tax troubles in Ireland. For years these companies have been using the European operations as part of the tax avoidance schemes.

Don't mess with the Flemish has been good advice for 600 of the last thousand years.

>yes it's a security issue but you wouldn't "expect" to get fined millions of dollars.

The penalties are based on percentage of turnover.

Can't blame a rogue junior engineer if that happens.

Sanitize your outputs?

Building datacenters will take a significant amount of time. if they don’t have locations secured then even more so.

I feel like these new tools have helped me get simple programming tasks done really quickly over the last 18 months. They seem like a faster, better and more accurate replacement for googling and Stackoverflow.

They seem very good at writing SQL for example. All the commas are in the right place and exactly the right amount of brackets square curly and round. But when they get it wrong, it really shows up the lack of intelligence. I hope the froth and bubble in the marketing of these tools matures into something with a little less hyperbole because they really are great just not intelligent.

Poor quality of regulation allows sociopath installer who well knows the risk to use lowest cost materials to line their pockets.

I give them the benefit of the doubt. They are of the opinion its hard to get anything built because of regulations at the planning stage.

Difficult to see anybody but piggy sticks trying to get away with building with highly flammable materials.

feels like the government need to set the tone for the rental market first then both owners and builders can decide if they want to participate.

The GDS had "teeth". Forcing the reset of Universal Credit for instance:

that can't have been an easy decision to take.

https://public.digital/about-pd/our-people is a consultancy formed by a number of the senior folks involved in getting the Government Digital Service (GDS) off the ground back in the 2010's.

There is already a time signal in the electrical grid:

> Why don't they just always use this Tech. I don't understand.

The bit's that get your oven to work don't need the time. Adding the bits for this is a cost and a thing that can fail because it can't receive the radio signal that equals a Dead on Arrival for your oven and a service call at least. When it's on a watch it's likely near your wrist which is likely near a window which likely means it can get the radio signal to sync.

Casio are the best watches I've ever owned. Radio sync on a watch is awesome for creating "drop the mic" moments showing how far out the clocks are on a multi-million dollar machine in a datacenter despite how much the big consultancy thinks they are synced to UTP via "atomic clocks".

Should you want to donate, if you have the Benevity giving platform through your employer then you may be able to double any donation through that:

Is the name I search for.

The dozens of different versions of UNIX did not help either. A bug in their sed grep awk toolchain meant that you had to write workarounds for things like "Sequioa Unix" to support is single customer. as long as the UNIX flavor had a PERL port all of that could go away.

PERL being open source meant you were a "make" away from having the same environment on all those unixes.

even today when the dozens of UNIX distributions have collapsed into a couple of Lunux flavours, getting a shell based script to work reliably between say macOS and redhat can take some effort.

I don't have a kindle but its value to me is that my 84 year old Mum can use hers without needing to call me for technical support.
