gnarlouse··on A Jev that can ask Opus for help gives Opus accuracy at 4x lower cost
Thanks for making targeted advertising and surveillance state stronger. We love you for that.

Hope my sarcasm is making it across.

gnarlouse··on Embedding boolean circuits in a neural network
Okay, so when do we get FPGAs in LLMs
gnarlouse··on AI Can Write More of the Code. We Still Have to Engineer the System
I honestly kind of disagree. Maybe a more accurate take these days is we still have to engineer the assembly line harness that engineers the system. "KISS" is turning out to be a surprisingly good nudge token to throw at Claude Code.
gnarlouse··on Reviewers rarely talk about reliability. Owners bring it up twice as often
Can somebody explain "share of each sides opinions" as a statistic? Why am I solving a riddle to read an article?
gnarlouse··on Anthropic S-1
Come to think of it, if an ASI figures out how to crack biology, genetic diversity may not even need to come from a giant human population.
gnarlouse··on Anthropic S-1
Because pending an absolute loss of control of a super intelligent model, the ultra wealthy have enough control of the matter on Earth to merge with the AI, probably.
gnarlouse··on Anthropic S-1
I mean there are a lot of paradoxes around AI. The chief two among which are:

1. the goal of ai is to end capitalism by disrupting scarcity in economics

2. if ai can build a closed system that prints ai factories, the 99% of humanity essentially are just genetic diversity live stock.

gnarlouse··on America has lost 200k of jobs in media, film and the arts. How much is AI?
Honestly: our media and film is largely pretty terrible. The arts may be worth a lament.
gnarlouse··on Dessa: Conversation Model trained only on speech
Honestly: fuck these people. In the span of a demo they have dogwhistled the market to:

- Build advertising on their platform.

- Build AI girlfriends on their platform.

Gross. I mean it's not like the market isn't already thinking of doing that, it's not a leap of a conclusion. Just kind of gross to be on the nose about it with the content and choice of demos.

gnarlouse··on Disney Raising Prices Days After Confirming Ads Will Now Show Up on Every Tier
Who even cares let this dumpsterf*k company die of its own greedy accord Disney hasn't been worth a cent of mental energy in a long time. Adieu.
gnarlouse··on Every AI model has the same "controversial" take on humans
The Buddhist in my sees karmic transference from humanity to AI models.
gnarlouse··on Every AI model has the same "controversial" take on humans
I am reminded of Life 3.0 by Max Tegmark, and the Omega Team's later shenanigans in stoking a unified world order:

- Claiming control of all the news outlets

- Pushing a common narrative among all of them, pushing everybody towards basically centrism, de-escalation and a mixture of capitalism and social responsibility.

gnarlouse··on A new way to think about borrow checking (in reverse)
I have no help to offer, but as a bystander who loves Rust I am very hopeful good things come of this for you @verdagon!
gnarlouse··on Anthropic's proposed AI safety bill only kicks in if 50 deaths or $1B in damages
New benchmark unlocked, "DTD": deaths to damages
gnarlouse··on The Dock on Mac, from OS 10 to macOS 27
I think the death of Apple (and the birth of modern Apple) was iOS 7. Skeuomorphism, Steve Jobs being freshly deceased (RIP). The UI looked and felt like an undergraduate design project. The minimalism was pretentious and out of touch, and it's only gotten worse in my opinion.
gnarlouse··on Apple HomeView
intercom systems were pretty ubiquitous in the 90's and 00's...
gnarlouse··on The Dock on Mac, from OS 10 to macOS 27
I miss OS X. Life was better.
gnarlouse··on Show HN: Build with Python – a beginner course where your code draws
Honestly, you're right.
gnarlouse··on First Implantable Cochlear Implant Launches
Imagine implanting a lithium ion battery in your head
gnarlouse··on Show HN: Build with Python – a beginner course where your code draws
My only feedback is $49 for AI slop feels like extortion at best, and delusion at worst. Don't give up building stuff, we should all be using AI to build ideas because the cost of developing them has dropped substantially. We should not be using them, however, to grift one another.
gnarlouse··on Car is a smartphone on wheels. Here's who's listening
These articles are useless because where is the search bar that lets me plug in my make/model and look at the specific results like cool research guys thanks for burying the lede in 3000k words
gnarlouse··on I Could've Accessed 17T Microsoft Records
If a 15yo can find it
gnarlouse··on Dots: Always-on agents
If you flip "dots" over, it kind of looks like "stop" which is precisely how I feel about this project.
gnarlouse··on Needed 1+1, built a functional programming language
This reminds me of decades ago when ...wait, I was still writing code like three years ago.
gnarlouse··on Ask HN: What are you reading?
I enjoyed the book, but I "read" it on Audible which was possibly not the ideal experience. It was kind of fun though, they had static crackling for all the redacted bits.
gnarlouse··on Dots: Always-on agents
I love stuffing eldritch horror inside a teddie bear plushie. So perfectly a caricature of modern tech-dystopianism.

God I want the fucking market to crash

gnarlouse··on Goodbye to the Hard Parts That Never Mattered
Slop detected
gnarlouse··on Meta VR Glasses
Smoked Metas
gnarlouse··on Garry Tan wants US open-weight AI labs to 'distill' frontier models, too
you want smaller models with comparable capabilities. for resource efficiency, market efficiency, environmental conservation.
gnarlouse··on iPhone Duo
Hideous
