grigy··on Meta Ray-Ban Display
It's actually the 2rd generation now, or even 3rd for the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2). First generation was Ray-Ban Stories.
grigy··on Best up-to-date guides on Vibe Coding
Answering to my question, found this resource: https://coding-with-ai.dev/
grigy··on Happy New Year 2025
In US PST, Happy New Year!
grigy··on Diode Matrix
I was curios what does the code do and asked ChatGPT.

  Summary of Functionality:

  • This code seems to perform a sequence of loading data from memory into registers, performing bit tests, comparisons, and conditional branching based on the results of these tests.
  • It appears to be part of a loop or some repeated operation, as there are multiple backward branches that seem to control a flow of tests and memory manipulations.
grigy··on CrowdStrike Update: Windows Bluescreen and Boot Loops
I could not imagine so many critical systems run on Windows.
grigy··on Pyxel: A retro game engine for Python
This is cool, I like the dynamics. Is the source code available? I'm curious how much effort went into this.
grigy··on Modern Python Developer's Toolkit
It's not just a video. There is a table of contents on the left side with the links.
grigy··on Ready for Production Apps: Flutter Beta 3
Being agree with all 4 points I see two drawbacks:

1. Not using OEM widgets. Even the rendered widgets may look good, they can't beat the native widgets optimized for the particular platform.

2. The choice of Dart as the main language.

I can understand both points though

grigy··on Show HN: ShakyDraw – Hand-drawn block diagrams from plain text
Very useful and would be more useful in form of an API that could be used with Markdown text.
grigy··on Ask HN: What do you want to learn in 2017?
Learn to build great UIs, fast. I think this is the most important skill for testing app ideas and eventually creating a product.
grigy··on Ask HN: Anyone attending YC Startup School 2016? Let's know each other
Thanks for introduction Roger. This is my first Startup School too. Hopefully will meet there!
grigy··on Amazon Zocalo
Isn't this a reason to not use AWS anymore?
grigy··on Best development book I've read, has no code in it
I have not read it but "The Pragmatic Programmer" remains the best development book for me. Interesting how the "Apprenticeship Patterns" compares to it?
grigy··on Pixate Engine Now Free
It would be awesome if they also support Android (and other platforms), which I think they will eventually do. You would design once and get the same look across all the platforms.
grigy··on Pixate Engine Now Free
I wonder if anyone here actually used it. How much does it increase the size of executable?
grigy··on Monday was my 46th birthday and likely my last
Early this year my father was diagnosed ALS. During one year his hand muscles are completely gone. Though the legs are still OK but the disease does progress rapidly and it's just matter of time.

This is terrible disease. I know how hard it is for his family.

grigy··on What is Happening in Istanbul?
Similar thing happened in Yerevan, Armenia last year, but in a smaller scale. Group of people protected a park from construction of boutiques. It took around 2 months and the government finally gave up. There is a wikipedia article covering the story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashtots_Park_Movement
grigy··on Sell HN: Do you have a side project you want to sell?

grigy··on Ask HN: Best alternative to Parse?
Wow, this is an impressive list. Appcelerator looks good, but very pricey though. Why would you choose it over the others? The free version is the Titanium which is basically a Javascript SDK for native apps.
grigy··on Facebook buys Parse
I just started to build my app on Parse. Now I want to migrate. What are the alternatives?
grigy··on ‘Functional Programming Principles in Scala’ starts today
The course also does teach Scala. It made me love Scala and it's definitely worth learning.
grigy··on Side-Project Build Theory
I think most of side-projects are meant to enjoy the process of building and try new technology. So I would not want a friend to build "my" side-project using his skills and choice of technology. It's something I need to build. I enjoy the process.
grigy··on Suite of 300 icons for web and user interface design
Thank you very much for this gift!
grigy··on Startup School 2012 Videos
Could you explain what does it mean? I'm out of context
grigy··on Hitachi presents a storage medium that should last forever
I wonder what would be the density of such storage
grigy··on Show HN: Markupwand, magically convert your photoshop files to HTML & CSS
How about PNG? Is it just me here using Fireworks for web design?
grigy··on Show HN: Pushing all your emails to Facebook timeline
I stopped after few words. This is unreadable.
grigy··on nReduce: an alliance of hackers
Sounds very interesting, but I may not be able to join this summer. Is it also going to be biannual?
grigy··on JQuery knobs
One use-case would be setting clock time, though with some modifications. I had such control in mind before. I think for some of us it would easier to make two clicks rather than enter numbers.
grigy··on Show HN: Help me launch a weekly HN podcast
Great initiative. Will definitely listen to this podcast. And I would reply if I was native English speaker.
