grim_io··on No AI, 52 min. Build all Linux Files utils in C by Hand [video]
You will at least need to use LLM's to check for your manually introduced inconsistencies and security problems, like we see right now in kernels and libraries we considered peak of human achievement.

If an LLM can spot those better than a human, I'd wager it can write code without introducing them in the first place.

grim_io··on In LLM era, can software startup survive?
And then regretting it shortly after.

The tech is not there yet. It may not be ready for many years.

grim_io··on ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging
How many gigabytes can you download from your broadband connection? Often they call it unlimited, yet it's fair use and the provider decides what's okay and what's abuse.

What's your guaranteed down and upload speed? The ISP's usually guarantee far lower speeds than they advertise.

Token subscriptions are not really a completely novel concept.

Don't confuse Open Source with an enshittification backdoor with Free Software.

No, and i don't feel bad about it.
grim_io··on Pico CSS is no longer maintained
Is zero-runtime CSS-in-JS an oxymoron?

Are you asking the same question to emacs users?
grim_io··on Claude Code regularly sends each background agent’s transcript to its model
More likely it depends on the overall load of the infrastructure.

Openshift is just k8s with bells and whistles.
grim_io··on Despite Iran's Attacks, Gulf Oil Exports Exceed Prewar Levels
I call bullshit until the guy from the "what's going on with shipping" YouTube channel confirms it.
grim_io··on SlopCodeBench 10/2026 – Opus 5.5, Astra wins overall, xhigh considered harmful
You are deep in it.

You may be larping for no additional benefit vs just using Opus 5.5 and just asking it to implement a feature.

grim_io··on DeepSeek banned from U.S. federal civilian agencies under new DHS order
Authoritarian communism is not a race.

Just because a compiler binary compiles program A without a backdoor, it does not prove it won't add a backdoor to program B.

grim_io··on Using AI to reverse engineer hardware
In a legal fight of printers VS AI behemoths, my money is on the ruthless printer mafia.
grim_io··on Gemini 4 Argon
Argon has been hacking Google internally for years!

So it's not something for me, but like everything Microsoft makes, it's for our BOFH's who will torment us with yet another corporate compliance machine.

Uhuh, sure. We are holding the AGI wrong.
grim_io··on Returning from vacation? The government can search your phone without a warrant
Are you implying that not voting will somehow lead to a better solution?

Voting increasingly less corrupt options(as good as we can judge) is the way. What else can you do?

grim_io··on Returning from vacation? The government can search your phone without a warrant
The "everyone does it" defense is how the worst of the worst get away with it.
grim_io··on OpenAI halved the allowance of the $200 plan to 10x
Previously, you got a magical free money bonus on the $200 sub.

Plus costs 20.

Pro 5x costs 100, and gives 5x Plus usage.

Pro 20x was 200, and previously gave 20x Plus usage, for a 10x difference. Magical free money, wee.

Of course it had to end.

grim_io··on We’re forgetting what darkness feels like
It makes it easy to imagine how people made up Gods to explain the magnificence.
grim_io··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
Truth be told, I never used the feedback function because of the clauses that reference the functionality in connection with training/service improvement.
grim_io··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
If contracts didn't matter, sure I guess.
grim_io··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
There is a difference.

Using feedback on your sessions makes that session, and presumably all attached data, fair game for training.

grim_io··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
Reddit cross contamination. Over there it's a rite of passage to accept it as a fact.
grim_io··on Sonnet 5.5
Like Netflix, in the past we got the full release on day 1.
grim_io··on Coding is not solved
For a non-ai article, this sure has a lot of bullet point lists combined with check marks.

I don't like the feeling being judged and tested by the author (missing number 5 point in the list).
