Ask me how I know.
iPadOS 15 hasn't been receiving the security updates for vulnerabilities that have been released for iPadOS 18.
e.g. currently, it's doing:
[input] -> [3 hashes] -> [single storage]
but, I'm wondering if it's better to do: [input]
-> [hash a] -> [storage a]
-> [hash b] -> [storage b]
-> [hash c] -> [storage c]
...this way, the output of the 3 hashes don't affect each other during the set and membership-check. I wonder how that would affect how much more data you can store. I'm sure someone has considered this.Relatedly, beware of the hidden ads in social media. It takes much less money to astroturf a community like reddit than to advertise through conventional means (e.g. commercials, product placements, banner ads). You may be aware of ads on youtube, but you may not be aware of the ads in the comment section. I've seen youtube comments as follows:
Ed: Christ! My stock portfolio has gone down so much since the pandemic... it hurts.
Bob: Mine did too, however in the past year I've been able to recover financially.
Ed: Really? Please help me, how did you recover your losses?
Bob: I'd hate to share my secret, but Jonathon Harris provided me with amazing investment tips.
Sal: Mr. Jonathon Harris helped 10X our portfolio! You can reach him at jonharris@gmail.com
</ad scam>That was my re-enactment of their discussion. Sure, that was an example of an obvious ad. But think of all the times you read a conversation about a product or service and became convinced to try something just based on a conversation between two supposed strangers online? I've never bought anything from a conventional ad, but I've purchased plenty of things after reading what the socials say about a product, and that makes me ashamed of myself. Word of mouth is effective for a reason, but it's insidious online. And that's where they get you. Steel your mind, when online.
Fixed.
This canary story feels like a contrived story intended to scare potential leakers inside the company.
Ad -> YT -> Content Creators
You prevent YT and Content Creators from making money when you block an ad.
Blocking ads of these products, means when you purchase a product (shampoo, razors, etc) more of your money goes into these companies that created these products.
And, in your case, who pays the content creator for the content you enjoy? and who pays for the engineering and infrastructure that delivered the content?
And, since you never saw the ad, you likely didn't buy any product either.
It feels like a cautionary tale for would-be leakers inside of Apple.
You use passkeys as a preferred login method.
If you do not have your passkey, you can tap "Try Another Way" and use your password as usual.
Additionally, TikTok must be scrutinized/penalized for distributing this "educational" material. Their algos have a strong influence on teens. This content doesn't appear to exist on Youtube (I just did a quick search). Meanwhile, in China, you are censored for merely sharing photos of Winnie the Pooh on Douyin.
I've since kept the 3rd monitor on and haven't had any problems. So, if anyone has this problem, try fiddling with your DisplayLink connection: perhaps try disconnecting the adapter completely and/or try turning it off/on from the manager.
- Imagine a grid where each cell is a 1x1 square mile based on lat/lon
- When a device moves to a new cell, have it join the phx-channel representing that 1x1 cell. It must also leave the previous phx-channel of the cell it occupied. If your devices move very slowly, have them recalculate the cell/channel they belong to once an hour (for example).
- When an anomaly occurs, send a message to the channel. Every device in that cell will receive the websocket message. You may also choose to send your message to the 3x3 cells that surround just the cell where the anomaly occurred.
- If you need to tell all devices something, use broadcast.
Feel free to change 1x1 mile to 1x1 meters or whatever.
Q: "What new discoveries from JWST can I tell my 9 year old child?"
A: "JWST took the very first pictures of a planet outside our solar system"
Source: NASA’s Webb Takes Its First-Ever Direct Image of Distant World - https://blogs.nasa.gov/webb/2022/09/01/nasas-webb-takes-its-...So, it took the first picture of a (particular) exoplanet, which is not to be confused with the first picture (ever) of an exoplanet. There is a misunderstanding here.
If you could perform 2 tasks (e.g. console.log(Array(1e8).fill(0).map((a, i) => i)), and have both run to completion without a significant delay between the two tasks, that'd be impressively concurrent.
