gwill··on Una GPS smart watch – Repairable, USB-C charging, developer-friendly
the sapphire screens are incredibly resilient. mine looks brand new and is several years old. tested against plenty of bouldering
gwill··on Una GPS smart watch – Repairable, USB-C charging, developer-friendly
i have one too with a sapphire screen (fenix 7). the watch is beaten up but the screen looks brand new. really phenomenal watches.

sending a human there also contaminates the planet more, allowing us to learn less.

Dune, Children of Time, Neuromancer and Blindsight.

for "sci-fi" that reads like fantasy, the Sun Eater series is really fun.

gwill··on Anonymous Release 10TB Leaked Data Exposing Kremlin Assets, Russian Businesses
anyone have an alternate link?
gwill··on Crew-9 Returns to Earth
There are no audits, there are no reports, there is little to no transparency with DOGE. They're gutting first, thinking later and it's costing us a ton. How can you trust an administration to expose corrupt spending when they freeze the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act?
gwill··on Sigma BF Camera
that's fair. i was whack. one of my favorite lenses is a Sigma, i was just comparing to Leica and let some bias slip in.
gwill··on Sigma BF Camera
do you want interchangeable lenses and a full frame sensor as well?
gwill··on Sigma BF Camera
Would you mind answering those questions? I love photography and when looking over a camera can get an idea around strengths/weaknesses. This seems like they wanted to cheap out on construction with fewer physical controls and still be able to advertise as a compact FF camera despite having a low MP sensor.
gwill··on Sigma BF Camera
I think those folks would rather buy a Leica/Ricoh. what does this offer? worse glass, sensor, controls. I really don't get this camera.
gwill··on Sigma BF Camera
also a 24mp FF sensor in 2024. is this supposed to be targeting lowlight photography?
gwill··on America desperately needs more air traffic controllers
i think you have your numbers flipped, but for me personally no commute is worth the drop in stress and increase in free time

gwill··on Many of the Pokemon playtest cards were likely printed in 2024
having lights on during the day absolutely helps, especially when overcast or foggy.
gwill··on Apple to pay $95M to settle lawsuit accusing Siri of eavesdropping
I hadn't thought eavesdropping was possible given the programming of siri and the architecture of the hardware. Does this settling mean that Apple is guilty?
gwill··on Apple Photos phones home on iOS 18 and macOS 15
odd, i'm also on latest but it was enabled
gwill··on Windshield pitting incidents in Washington reach fever pitch on April 15, 1954 (2003)
I found it funny that your phrase: Low Information High Satisfaction > L.I.H.S. is a homonym with "lies".

Great phrase btw

gwill··on NYC wants you to stop taking traffic cam selfies, but here's how to do it anyway
i use nextdns and don't have any ads on the site.
gwill··on Coffee, sandwiches, underwear, beer: a day in the life of Japan's konbini
the food i've gotten at konbini in japan is on par with specialty gas stations, such as KwikTrip, Casey's, Wawa or Buc-ees in the US. I don't trust food at my 7-11 at home. in japan they get shipments of fresh food _at least_ daily. Soba, onigiri, sandwiches aren't necessarily junk food but they had plenty of those options as well. The US is only junk food.
gwill··on Earth Is on the Brink of Breaching a 7th of Nine 'Planetary Boundaries'
that isn't walking back that we're on the brink of breaching the 7th boundary. it just adds more detail into what these boundaries are.
gwill··on Pixel Watch 3
my garmin is currently low and i have 4 days of battery life or 2-3 long runs with gps and bluetooth enable left. with physical shortcuts to payment and timers, i haven't worn my apple watch in weeks
gwill··on I am using AI to drop hats outside my window onto New Yorkers
if i am curious about something and want to learn, i don't want to need to sift through jokes and sarcastic comments. i find joy in learning and people can still be informative and use humor.
gwill··on Boeing's Starliner Now Has 5 Leaks While Parked Outside the ISS
are these actually scary leaks? in the article they say they'd be fine even if the leak were 100x the size.
gwill··on A ChatGPT mistake cost us $10k
either way it sounds like they're stuck with poor testing around their code. that shows the devs probably don't understand the code which means fixing or changing things in the future will take longer.
gwill··on Earthworms have transformed the Isle of Rum's landscape
per the article: up to 13g or 3x the size of a normal earthworm. the photo in the article shows one that's just shy of two hand lengths.
gwill··on Phone cameras can take in more light than the human eye
when i said that it is still done without computational editing, i didn't mean that all astrophotography is done without it. i means that some is done without it
gwill··on Phone cameras can take in more light than the human eye
long exposures don't inherently mean blurring. The camera or mount can move to track a moving object, keeping it sharp. Astrophotography has been and still is done without computational photography.
gwill··on After Furiosa flops, Hollywood could be facing a biblically disastrous summer
I loved how they bridged the gaps. Further development of the world which made me appreciate Fury Road even more. When I saw the trailers I thought it looked terrible and was a cash grab. After a friend got me to go see it, I was happily proven wrong.

I don't think telling a story out of sequence from existing material means that it's a cash grab.
