hactually··on Microsoft offers voluntary buyouts to a quarter of its workforce
I don't need AI here - and sure, using hyperbole to show the ridiculousness of your statement may not have been charitable.

However - calling AI "fascistic" simply isnt a self-evident observation. The concentration of power in Big Tech, authoritarian applications of AI, and making historical connections between eugenics could all be legitimate subjects of criticism. BUT NONE OF THAT ESTABLISHES GEN AI AS FASCIST.

Citing an academic paper and a documentary doesn't bridge that gap. You still need to explain which arguments you're adopting and how they support your conclusion.

hactually··on Microsoft offers voluntary buyouts to a quarter of its workforce
You said AI was fascist with no explanation.

There's no straw man, just bad faith.

That's a heck of a way to read a paper that the authors acknowledge has gaps on reporting due to media bias
hactually··on Microsoft offers voluntary buyouts to a quarter of its workforce
AI is fascist, disagreement is irrational, and naturally you're the only person qualified to decide which opinions are acceptable.

Are you sure the problem is the clankers?

hactually··on Taxing Entrepreneurial Wealth: Evidence from Norway, 2021–2025
How do you do it? I'm a billionaire - I'll pay myself $10,000 a year and I then loan against my stock so it's not income assessable.

What's the plan?

Forced revaluation and selling of assets once per year?

Who values privately held assets?

hactually··on Taxing Entrepreneurial Wealth: Evidence from Norway, 2021–2025
This is why you should read up on the Laffer curve.

The logical limit of your argument is communism and everyone with the ability to read a history book knows that results in corruption and death.

hactually··on Taxing Entrepreneurial Wealth: Evidence from Norway, 2021–2025
This is purely the politics of envy and incredibly short sighted.

I'd suggest a quick review of the Laffer Curve and how capital flight has resulted in places reducing their tax take due to greed/communism/whatever.

If you want to pay more into inefficient bodies, you are free to do it but don't impoverish your nation with nonsense politics when less than 10% pay 75% of all tax.

I think having only half a brain is how you end up believing that migrant crime is because of far right influence.

This is very close to magic dirt theory -- I bring a horse into a pond, does it start acting like a duck?

try feeding it content already in the corpus - niche religious texts are a good one where they've tried to special case out the mainstream things like the King James but missed other ones. They claim it's 100% AI.

Garbage app In my experience.

Is it not good that the US and Israel govt are generally doing what their people want though?

What's the point of a democracy if it acts against it's people like the UK does?

hactually··on KDE turns 30 and someone's brought an AI-native desktop proposal
Is it going to just be an Omarchy + KDE iteration? The article was very light on content but DHH is definitely driving more results and new contributions which is great for free software.

we recently got this running in 192gb of vRAM and using it with the Klaudia harness has been incredible for driving out work that we'd need to use Opus and Fable for previously
hactually··on Resistance Training Prescription for Muscle Function, Hypertrophy in Health
Funny enough - I spent time last year, and paid for a professional trainer who worked with celebs/elite athletes - to build an app to do what I wanted.

For a long time I had been doing greyskull LP but kept progressing and getting injured and then having to reset.

I've been following my own app now and am loving life and sharing it with friends.

Find what works for you but by all means, lift!

hactually··on The Netherlands, Spain push for EU-wide minimum age on social media
From a lens of control/social cohesion it makes sense tbf. The time kids are most malleable, you want to ensure they're thinking the "correct" way and only consume content from approved sources.

I don't envy the kids of today and how much they can't do compared to my generation

hactually··on How to bring up the Linux Kernel on a new platform
really enjoyed this - great to see modern C++ as well, we were all on Assembly and C when I had to do this on a Freescale/iMX chipset for a wireless router!

So good though taking a reference design, re-laying it out with new modules and then bringing it to life with a scope and a datasheet.

I can only imagine how much will have changed with LLMs being able to be read and have a harness to do the hard work for you!

hactually··on AI didn't erase the junior engineer's value, it increased it it
how do you mean? surely you're paid for delivering product not coding? if it is the latter, I too would love to be paid for recreational coding
hactually··on Why does everyone hate data centers?
it's a very good psyop by non western aligned government actors.

Convincing people that it slurps up infinite water and contains the world's stolen information like some bad National Treasure script is genius.

The populist left are happy to use video too. All UK and Australian politicians are on Twitter and Tiktok and numerous podcasts that then get soundbite sliced.

kinda. but not really. they just showed a lack of effectiveness and has emboldened other countries to further restrict things like VPNs and roll out ID based net access
hactually··on VPN ban update for UK households as government looks at 'age-gate'
The UK government have at least made it clear that they intend to ban right wing media and parties that aren't aligned.

A leaked strategy document from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, outlined their "Kill Musk's Twitter" to diminish the platform through advertiser pressure and regulatory action
