helloimben··on Plant-based substitute leather developed from pineapple leaf fiber and rubber
Hell yeah. Love to see it.
helloimben··on Anti AI App Cara and Alternative to Instagram Explodes in Popularity
Not surprised. I feel like this was bound to happen. I reckon TikTok will see similar alternatives pop up with the same differentiator (if it hasn't happened already).
helloimben··on Why Aren't There More Hybrid Apps?
One great example of a successful business that uses a Hybrid app is Basecamp (formally 37 Signals). DHH wrote a great post on how they mix both native components with web views: https://signalvnoise.com/posts/3743-hybrid-sweet-spot-native...

The result is a highly rated app that's both fast and performant for the end user, while also cost/speed efficient for the business to run and maintain.

helloimben··on Ask HN: What's the best place in the U.S. to live and work cheaply?
Agreed 100% on Madison. It's is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever witnessed, and the culture there is energized and unique. I've had the opportunity to bootstrap my company there, and it's something I wouldn't have been able to achieve in many other cities, especial SF.

That said, I'm beginning to find the internet at large the best "place" to build a company. I've begun to realize that in many ways location has become less and less important to the potential success of a company. I'm experiencing this first hand, as are countless others around the globe.

Thank you!
helloimben··on PushBullet: From 0 to 15,000 users in 2 weeks
Awesome tool!
helloimben··on Hello, PushBullet - push anything to your Android phone from your browser
I could definitely use something like this on iOS as well.

As a designer, I'm constantly making things I want to be able to show to others at any given time, so I constantly email mockups to my phone. The process currently sucks, and this would be really helpful.

Nice idea! Would love to see more things like this made.
helloimben··on Jetstrap for Bootstrap
Thanks! That's definitely something we've thought of, and could very well find its way in at some point in the future. We'll be gathering a ton of feedback as we continue forward developing the tool.
helloimben··on Jetstrap for Bootstrap
This guy does a nice job explaining how sometimes it's not so much the color, but how you use it. "What stands out gets clicked, what blends in gets ignored."

I tried downloading it just now- says the app is "no longer available."
helloimben··on Am I burnt out? Or just not suited for this job?
Reading this brings up a lot of uneasy feelings for me. I am a designer, and recent graduate with a job right out of school. I love what I do, and wouldn't want to be doing anything different, but recently I've been hearing more and more stories like this. It generally goes: the young, inspired designer/hacker works his/her ass off for 3-4 years, then (poof!) "burns out."

I can't help but feel worried for myself. On average I happily work around 60 hours/week, and would probably do more if I didn't stop myself (I do need some sleep, after all). Am I in that "3-4 years" stage? I want to do design the rest of my life, but maybe I'm just shooting myself in the foot.
