hermes8329··on Apple said to be preparing for iPhones without SIM card slot in 2022
Guess what. Apple can dent physical sims too though

Why do you think you a physical sim for different providers. Because they only work with that provider. Apple can turn the tap off on a class of Sims as it is

hermes8329··on Apple said to be preparing for iPhones without SIM card slot in 2022
You make good points but at this point esim is incredibly awesome. it is super easy to use
hermes8329··on The Story of the Game Genie, a Cheat Device Nintendo Tried (and Failed) to Kill
The original was awesome but the first external mods to the PS1 also has some nifty stuff to hack around with just an lpt1 port away
hermes8329··on You block ads in your browser, why not in your city?
How do those camera work at night with a peep wearing a ski mask? Or even an IR hat
hermes8329··on New York City bans natural gas in new buildings
I don't think that is an overreaction. When looking for a place to live. Gas stove and induction oven are a hard requirement

If it doesn't have that...pass immediately

hermes8329··on New York City bans natural gas in new buildings
Thumbs up to bland food
hermes8329··on Buy a coal mine, drive a gas guzzler, and other uses of reverse logic
I sometimes wish we would just burn it all and call it a day. It would be a disaster but it's already one anyways.

Just burn it all so some rich people get richer and then are out of a job because there is nothing left

hermes8329··on Ask HN: What's Your Opinion on Web3?
There is nothing actual web3. It's just a meaningless term used by snake oil salesmen
hermes8329··on The secret Uganda deal that has brought NSO to the brink of collapse
History has shown that the two are tightly involved. Plus it's not like they will ever really be held accountable. Pollard the traitor is a hero to Israel
hermes8329··on The secret Uganda deal that has brought NSO to the brink of collapse
Is that sarcasm? The Israelis spying on the us is hardly anything new
hermes8329··on Over 7k SOL ($1.2M) got lost on Solana NFT mint due to a hack
Those jurisdictions are few
hermes8329··on Ask HN: Just hit 3 mo. at new startup and the work is disinteresting
Is the paycheck interesting? Seriously money over finding your job interesting. If it's soul crushing that's a different story
hermes8329··on Ask HN: Has anyone switched from support to development?
Yes, not much interesting there. I became a developer on the side while doing support and then switched teams. I think pretty much every dev should do ongoing stints as support to understand the clients needs

It gave me a great foundation of understanding the clients mindset. There basically is no "they are doing it wrong" it means it was designed wrong

hermes8329··on Ask HN: What is humanity building towards?
Basically nonstop advertising
hermes8329··on My career of treating patients has ended
Your opinion is so incredibly off base it is borderline insulting as someone who has heart problems that will kill me. There are a lot of us and it had nothing to do with diet
hermes8329··on My career of treating patients has ended
I am facing taking the mountain of pills or die situation right now. I know what the underlying cause was but in reality it is irrelevant to anything now. The event happened and now i deal with the fallout. The cause was not predictable due to lifestyle or anything else. It was simply like being struck by lightening.

So why do i care about the cause again? I dont. it was a non reversible event

hermes8329··on My career of treating patients has ended
Accupuncture and juice is pallatiative care but is accepted stupidly as treatment

Pallatiative care is making the choice to travel to end of the line. I am currently going through making that decision. If i do, bring on the tasty juices and accupuncture to make me feel relieved at the time. But i am not delusional, it's not treatment. It is not going to fix anything or even stall it

hermes8329··on Ask HN: Are surprise medical bills gone starting Jan 2022?
I doubt it will make any meaningful differences. Medical building is such a shit show. I routinely receiver bills for a service that happened 9months before, for a procedure i don't even remember. I have no question in my mind that will change one tiny bit.

My way to combat some of that is to wait as long as they did to bill me to pay them or just tell them their window to bill me closed after 6 months. Both tactics work and the debt is no longer pursued

hermes8329··on Unbreakable phone screens could be made with a new material
I wish they would lay off on making phones thinner. They have become unusable without a case.

The casing should simply be built in so the cool coloring, texture or material the phone offers can actually be seen

hermes8329··on UberEats took unauthorized amount (and not willing to pay it back)
Every one's experiences are different but i just switched from GrubHub because their drivers are assholes. door dash has been much better already I contacted grub hub about the problem but don't expect much acknowledgement. They did refund a dinner that was stolen pretty much instantly and comped me for a next meal for the troubles atleast. But that was just one good resolution over a number of instances where drivers simply don't give a fuck
hermes8329··on A deep dive on a Facebook reseller of bikes stolen in Colorado
People hate to see reality but let's be honest. Cops do a terrible job. If a crime against you happens. It will likely never be solved. The report will be there for you though

But they just don't have enough of funding is always the big complaint. And it's bullshit when they walk around with body armor and use military equipment from Iraq.

Crimes only get solved accidentally by cops. If they happen to see it go down and then somehow catch them in the act

hermes8329··on YouTube TV loses ESPN, ABC and other Disney channels in fee dispute
Those channels should be in a separate tier to clearly represent the cost. Instead they rely on required package deals that subsidize their insane costs. More plans need a disney- tier
hermes8329··on Judge rejects Purdue Pharma's $4.5B opioid settlement
It's used in all sorts of surgical procedures. I've had it a few times, used as a relatively minor painkiller under those circumstances. Which sounds crazy considering how much news is about how strong it is. But it works well in those controlled circumstances
hermes8329··on Reddit files to go public
Then you know it will be worthwhile
hermes8329··on Anthony Bourdain's private Reddit account
As soon i as i read "private" i cringed

If it was private. That was for a reason. The man had an awesome public persona and shared that with millions freely.

He clearly also wanted to participate as a regular human

hermes8329··on 90% of Black Friday deals were the same price or cheaper six months before
Well guess what? Language and terminology change over time

While black Friday is a reference to a single day in history. It is also a reference to the annual shopping for Christmas. Which has also changed. It really was the start of the shopping season but alas, you cant stop change

hermes8329··on Samsung plans $17B chip plant in Taylor, Texas
I think I misremembered this case https://youtu.be/AibQvvuEsZo
hermes8329··on Samsung plans $17B chip plant in Taylor, Texas
Rusty dusty equipment that probably won't even fire.. that offensive line is hardly a major threat
hermes8329··on Samsung plans $17B chip plant in Taylor, Texas
They just steal the IP anyways
hermes8329··on Samsung plans $17B chip plant in Taylor, Texas
That cult leader is a crazy story on its own. She killed a presidential nominee in a ritual

Definitely check it out

Oh and she used to be a popstar too
