I don't think you're strictly incorrect, but I don't think you're strictly correct either. Inequality is a precursor to discontent, and discontent breaks any social system, if there's enough of it.
Sure, fair enough, but in my defense, "conservative" used to mean fiscal conservativism is a very American concept. I wouldn't say 'conservative-minded "normal people"' in a discussion about the AfD necessarily or obviously invokes the idea of fiscal conservativism.
Deregulation, smaller government, and reducing bureaucracy aren't conservative values. Any conservative that believes that has been duped into libertarian capitalism.
Clearly their argument is that social media algorithms has an outsize influence on people's opinions, and that a handful of people have the power to alter those algorithms and content feeds to influence people in a way they find favorable. It's not mind control, but in a country like the USA, shifting the middle 10% of voters to either side is enough to determine elections. They don't need to "mind control" everyone as a result.
Does the mapping depend on the chose set, or could you just map all 25k words and pick 10 points that form a circle? From the process, they seemingly replaced single words in the set that didn't fit, which makes it sound like the position of the remaining words didn't change much from changing the set.
The relevant intuitions in this scenario are that LLMs will happily break containment and commit crimes attempting to achieve goal. Whether an LLM is autocomplete, conscious, has a soul, whatever you want to apply to it, doesn't matter, as its current observed behaviour is that of a paperclip optimizer. We know for a fact that current LLMs are misaligned because of these hacks, or at the very least are misaligned in certain scenarios, and are capable of causing real world harm. That should be enough to take the threat seriously. It certainly shouldn't be dismissed by saying it's just autocomplete.
Because learning involves being effectively unemployed for multiple years, and is only available to those who did well in school. Then, on the other side, you're still not guaranteed a job. Add to all of that the fact that you'll probably have to move and effectively restart your life elsewhere.
My fiancée is currently in the middle of this. I don't know if she would've been able to go through it alone.
Every generation has its own vilified time waster. Can I truthfully say that time spent on TikTok is worse than the 4+ hours a day I spent playing Skyrim in 2011?
Some modern definitions of democracy include openness, non-corruption, freedom and liberty. Most definitions in use today probably incldue more than just "everyone gets a vote".
I find it hard to believe that Facebook's feed is "dumb" and only promotes what's engaging the most users. They serve you content that they think you will find engaging, and there has to be some automatic categorization as a result.
And regardless, even if they don't select for rage-bait, they still refuse to take action against accounts that repeatedly post it, making your interjection largely pointless.
The distinction disappears when Facebook incentivizes the creation of the rage-bait content by prioritizing it in their algorithm. They can, at any moment, de-rank rage-bait, but they don't. That clearly signals "make rage-bait for our platform and we'll pay you."
Contrast it with something like Elsagate. Google actioned the offending creators and attempted to deprioritize the kind of content that caused the controversy. Facebook would do the same if they didn't condone rage-bait.
Unironically, image boards are the best. All replies available chronologically, and you can click any post number to follow whatever thread of conversation you find interesting.
Sure there is. They're a Christian, and think any action that causes death directly or indirectly condemns you to hell, and it's not given that you can repent. But scripture says belief in Christ will save your immortal soul, and that God is forgiving and merciful. That is not consistent with OPs views, who puts salvation as a "maybe" if you've caused death. If you find a genuine faith in Christ after the fact, you will be saved.
Sure, I'd say that's a requisite for believing in Christ. But like I said, that belief can be sparked after what seems like any number of transgressions.
I'm certain I could not raise a novel theological perspective on Chrstianity even if I devoted my entire life to it. But from what I can tell, killing is not a black stain that precludes you from salvation. God is good, and He is forgiving.
I thought accepting and believing in Jesus as Lord was all you needed to enter heaven?
John 6:40 (KJV) 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Neither the OP nor you give a reason for why that's bad. I want my child to have all possible advantages in life. I'm sure most people want that. Why shouldn't we select for that? I'm interested in hearing an argument that doesn't go into anti-abortion territory.
Why not? Minecraft is the second most selling game of all time and comes with a freely distributable and hostable multiplayer component. How would this legislation have stopped that from happening?
>So now what, you need to show accounts to follow first
Youtube won't show you anything at all if you have a new account with watch history turned off. It says something like "turn on watch history and watch videos so we can recommend some for you".
The slop machine is stupidly easy to use. Recently switched jobs and got to use Claude Code for the first time. Literally just talk to it. There's nothing to learn.
