hnthrow10282910··on Residential proxies detected on White House network
I just did this as well. I also added paywall bypass by default along with inline article chat. The internet is such trash these days.

I made my modifications at the network level and auto redirect a configurable set of sites to go to reader mode/paywall bypass by default with a MITM proxy and a custom CA cert I trust

hnthrow10282910··on My Business Is Dying
This was a really honest and nice read. I also appreciated the last paragraph.

Personally I work at a FAANG adjacent big tech company and dream of quitting every fucking second

hnthrow10282910··on IBM Unveils Next Generation Dual-Architecture Processor for IBM Z and LinuxONE
Yah it’s a bit wild. I had an internship there 10 years ago. The tech was fine (same shit you see at any tech company). The vibe however was just like — wow this place was probably cool 50 years ago
hnthrow10282910··on Cloudflare R2 Outage (Sigh)
There was no data loss in this incident. There is literally one guy crawling the forums and twitter bitching despite CF confirmation he lost no data.

Personally long time R2 user and it’s fantastic. Seems the “outage” affected temporary availability on < .01%

hnthrow10282910··on Ask HN: Semi lucrative careers after tech?
Yah I’m a vegetarian so this one probably isn’t my cup of tea
hnthrow10282910··on What AI did to stackoverflow in a graph
Honestly SO helped me a lot in Uni 10 years ago. However I was banned 5+ times for just asking a normal question with attempts at answering. Can’t say I’m surprised. It was not welcoming, massively exclusive and had a rude community. RIP
hnthrow10282910··on Modern decor may be straining people's brains
First pic in article looks like fucking backrooms
hnthrow10282910··on Why American ambulance rides are so expensive
My insurance says ambulance rides are covered 100%. Apparently most are out of network though, which the people have no choice of choosing (obviously).

I was sent a post insurance $8000 bill. After months and months of arguing they said it was an error on their side and dropped the charge. Absolutely ridiculous

hnthrow10282910··on Seattle Just Had an Earthquake
Idk man the article in the NYT explaining how fucked Seattle is got a Pulitzer Prize
hnthrow10282910··on Why American ambulance rides are so expensive
I fainted once and my wife called an ambulance as I was unconcious due to Covid.

I was fully aware when the ambulance arrived and refused. They peer pressured me very hard anyways. It was a 1 mile drive and cost me $14,000

hnthrow10282910··on Seattle Just Had an Earthquake
When the “big one” hits Seattle, the PNW is absolutely cooked. Not to fear monger but the fear in my eyes seems somewhat realistic. Anyone care to fact check me here?
hnthrow10282910··on Hackers shoveled snow for company, were rewarded with network admin access
Hacked
hnthrow10282910··on Hot and stuck in Paris and London: homes not built for heat
In London now. So fucking hot. I pay like $4k USD for this flat that is barely even acceptable living accommodation on a cold day.

My kitchen hit 37C. I started to look for a new flat. Nothing with AC, but trying to find something on the ground floor. Unfortunately rent is incredibly expensive here even for an old building that barely has functioning water pressure.

I’m really torn about London right now.

hnthrow10282910··on The AirPods Effect
I just got some ear plugs that swimmers wear, quite nice
hnthrow10282910··on The AirPods Effect
I live in a big city and notice this a lot as well. I’m starting to reduce my headphone usage. My hearing is getting worse at a young age.

I don’t think the default should be needing to have a soundtrack to your life. I’m a long distance runner and often run 15-20+ miles without music or headphones. It’s nice

hnthrow10282910··on Garmin Needs to Do Better
Man LITERALLY this morning I was bitching about my Forerunner. I’ve owned almost every model of these things for over 15 years and they’re all pretty bad on the software side. I feel it’s inexcusable for Garmin given they over charge, under deliver and have billions.

First of all, I paid like 500 bucks for this watch. AirPods don’t work with the Spotify app, MTP protocol for music transfer is horrible, etc.

I’m big into running and would highly recommend not buying a Garmin and instead looking at Coros or Suunto

hnthrow10282910··on Ask HN: How do you find new books to read?
Book store and check reviews or summer reading lists on the times or library.
hnthrow10282910··on I Bought a 2004 iPod in 2026
I have a few of these (including my sisters green ipod mini from childhood). Fun devices that make me nostalgic for the era that got me into programming.

Sadly I stopped using them and gravitated back to the smartphone. Thinking about swapping back to a dumb phone though and perhaps the ipod soon

hnthrow10282910··on America Is Headed Toward the Infinite Workweek
Is this your reality? I’ve noticed that while the team is way more burned out people are also way less engaged and no longer critically think about edge cases or design reviews, etc anymore.
hnthrow10282910··on The founder of Craigslist has given away half a billion dollars
Well when you say it like that, he’s basically just one of us!
hnthrow10282910··on Ask HN: What is the job market like?
My company is simultaneously doing mass layoffs and mass hiring. Morale is dead in the water
hnthrow10282910··on TinyWind: A pixel pirate sailing game with real wind physics (380k+ kms sailed)
This is a lot of fun! I’ve been wanting to learn how to make pixel games like this myself. Any tips, resources you’d recommend ?
hnthrow10282910··on Ask HN: Do you have AI psychosis?
I wonder if anyone that truly does have it has the self reflection or cognisance to admit that they do?

I mean I’ve got guys on my team that actively argue that you can only develop now using AI and no alternative to development without AI is feasible

hnthrow10282910··on Angry Meta employee hijacks company presentation unleash profanity-laced tirade
Reading the rest of this article makes me think Meta is 10x more unhinged than I already thought it was
hnthrow10282910··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026)
Improving my focus. Using less AI at work and reading more. Less screen time and more physical things. Spending a lot of time with friends and being outdoors, long distance running and finding more meaning in life
hnthrow10282910··on Codex for open source
Agreed. Seems like it should be indefinite given they created a multi billion dollar company off the backs of these maintainers dedicating their hard earned timed for free to begin with and then trained models against their code.

IMO this is an insult if anything

hnthrow10282910··on Ask HN: Show your AI coded games [June 2026]
Quite fun! And hard
hnthrow10282910··on Daytona is going closed source
Security by obscurity is not the answer
hnthrow10282910··on Why would someone want to learn code when AI does it better and faster?
Why learn math when a calculator can do it? Why read a book if AI can summarise it? Why walk to the store if someone can deliver it?

There is no free lunch. The trade off is you get short term gains and long term cognitive dementia. You become a useless generalist.

hnthrow10282910··on Ask HN: Which companies gained a competitive edge purely via engineering?
Crazy company. Not sure any has existed like it with possibly the exception of early Google
