PRs merged and reviewed is a bit of a joke :)
Imagine for a moment star trek like society where one needs not toil for corpos to have their basic needs met. In such a scenario is better LLM good or bad? Would you fight to go back to cubicle then?
I posit we should not scrutinize technological progress itself or try to resist it's adoption, but rather look at people who shape the policies around it and how our society is structured, which is politicians and to larger extent us who live in democracies around election time.
In fact, I believe we should accelerate AI adoption in order to emphasise the impacts of the disruption and shortcomings of current societal structures and norms thus shortening the Unstable Era ushering a new AI driven heaven on earth...
... or we all just get marched into the recycling vats, it's a coin toss at this point I guess...
Kindly enumerate the metrics.
"All metrics is up" is a message The Communist Party approves wholeheartedly. 5 year plan delivered in 1 year, give this comrade a medal! anyone?
This is stated main goal many are persueing at this point.
Employer relationships are not much different, if you choose to do it, do it on the sly or suffer the consequence ;)
If you are a contractor (bachelor) situation may be different...
think we gonna see a lot of AI interviews very soon, which I think is a bit meh, but probably better than what we had before with grinding leetcode, which is a complete waste of time.
Robots will eventually encroach on physical too, then the subset will shrink to "physical world with required human interaction".
For me the question now is whether we will ever get a place where humans will prefer to interact with embodied AI robots over other humans.
Is this just an elaborate scheme to increase in/out token churn or are we hitting some kind of LLM limitations I wonder?
Juniors are doomed, nobody is writing anything ever again by hand.
for ai research, safety, aerospace, military, trading, gamedev .. those will probably still need coding for a bit longer.
interesting... I suppose this requires someone at the company actually knowing what the roadmap and desired end goal should be, I feel like exactly this is lacking in a lot of places right now
You can either embrace it, learn to how to use and deploy AI or try to find a way out into the real world, until robotics will inevitably catch you in several years, for some professions with manual aspect you could have maybe decades of time.
customer facing companies with engineering culture also come to mind, apple, google etc. I assume you are in Europe? you have Bosch Research, Fraunhofer or Dolby in US, this might overlap with your stated experience.
I dont have experience in quants or trading but I heard they can go pretty deep and hard.
First of all, did he not pick the language for Bun himself? Then introduced bunch of memory bugs, sound like skill issue cascade.
I remember some years ago in podcast touting how amazing Zig is to allow them being so performant which was the claim to fame for Bun, now to turn around and shit on the thing. Interesting persona.
