ianeff··on A skeptic's first contact with Kubernetes (2024)
If all you needed was a load-balanced nginx server, this would be a shallow, inaccurate reading of Kubernetes.
ianeff··on Wayland desktop for Linux with skeuomorphic design
Wrong abstraction! I love it… But wrong abstraction!
ianeff··on Show HN: Rhun, an open-source code editor written in assembly
The comments have all the hallmarks of generated slop.
ianeff··on Show HN: Aura – a Rust agent that investigates and fixes production incidents
Great looking project! I've been fumbling towards a similar approach in GoLang, http://github.com/ianeff/thump. I like yours better!
ianeff··on Eliminating Go bounds checks with unsafe
This was great, thank you!
ianeff··on FCC approves test of space mirror to light night sky
When Mister Burns did this, people got _pissed_.
ianeff··on Ditching Vagrant: VMs with KVM and Virsh on Debian
Mama, what a read! Nice work! Same story on macos: recently ditched the big (corpulent, distended, ossified) vagrant + virtualbox _repositories_ for some spritely lima + apple virtualization framework scripts, and been happier for it.

It was a forklift, to be sure, but the machines're snappier, & you buy yourself a little headroom.

ianeff··on I ported Kubernetes to the browser
This is great!
ianeff··on VX7 – Open-source Yamaha DX7 emulator written in Python
Weird that everyone was bagging on your Voog project, but they've got nothing to say about this. I guess Yamahas lack the caché..?

Anyhow, they're both nice reads, man!

ianeff··on Show HN: VOOG – Moog-style polyphonic synthesizer in Python with tkinter GUI
I like your LFO, man!
ianeff··on Self-Monitoring Message Bus in Pure Python (No Dependencies)
Nice looking bus! Nice looking failover mechanism and behavior! You should really write up your implementation!
ianeff··on Neuralink brain implant working in a pig
If I wanted to non-verbally communicate with a pig, I'd sign back up for twitter.
ianeff··on Atuin Desktop: Runbooks That Run – Now Open Source
That’s right, man. Bury me with my zshrc.
