inside65··on First confirmed hatchings of two California condor chicks from unfertilized eggs
Many would argue this already occurred with Jesus, born from the virgin Mary.
inside65··on Wacom drawing tablets track the name of every application that you open
Actually it hasn't cost them anything.
inside65··on Effect of early treatment with fluvoxamine on risk of hospitalization for Covid
That's clearly not what the original post was suggesting and yet someone went out of their way to change the focus to the political narrative of taking animal dosages.
inside65··on The ‘semi-rich’: Millions of high-income Americans may not feel wealthy but are
Sure, I agree with that and that's my point. You can have your basic 1M house, but your 1M house sells for 1M at the end of the day. My 150K house will never be 1M. There's more involved than regional cost of living (such as salary, value of assets, value of work performed in relationship to where you live). You can move anywhere and some jobs will be the same or similar enough in pay, but my job will never pay enough for me to own a 1M house.

In summary, some of these wealthier on paper people you mentioned way back may in fact just be wealthier. They can also live a wealthier lifestyle if they so choose.

inside65··on Show HN: “HTTP 419 Never Gonna Give You Up” for bots
I blocked almost all wp-login bots just using bot fight mode in Cloudflare few months ago along with some CF page rules to run an interstatial. It seems to losing effectiveness over time though, and since I do have WP-login, I wonder how I can implement something like your idea.

Maybe rename the legit login and put this in its place, but that would cause issues for redirects from the legit login link...

inside65··on The ‘semi-rich’: Millions of high-income Americans may not feel wealthy but are
That may be the case, but this article is about Americans. If we're opening up to the world, then just as well you actually have three options: move to a different country.
inside65··on The ‘semi-rich’: Millions of high-income Americans may not feel wealthy but are
At the end of the day, they can still sell their house and have 1M. I can sell my house and have 150K. There is definitely more to it than just being wealthier on paper.
inside65··on The ‘semi-rich’: Millions of high-income Americans may not feel wealthy but are
Where do people live that think having 1.2M in assets is no big deal? Where I live you're making big money if you make 80K a year.
inside65··on Tesla pulled its latest ‘Full Self Driving’ beta after testers complained
The functionality you mention isn't available on the Tesla either, like full self-driving computer, since it's not full self driving.

Navigate on autopilot I dont know what that means.

Self parking is available on other cars, Volkswagen, Audi, and more. Even the base Prius practically parks itself.

Traffic light and stop sign: what's the point of this if you have to maintain awareness anyway since it's not really full self driving?

inside65··on Tesla pulled its latest ‘Full Self Driving’ beta after testers complained
They paid $10,000 for intelligent cruise control which comes on a Toyota Camry and other cars at no additional cost.
inside65··on Scientists have found a way to harden wood to make a knife that rivals steel
Didn't the kiwamijapan youtube guy figure out how to do this years ago? Really even then, it's not a new concept. Inmates in prisons turn toilet paper into daggers and I'm sure there are antiquities of sharp objects made from wood and other materials. I don't really understand the significance or newsworthiness of this.
inside65··on YouTube deletes rapper's 'Let's Go Brandon' song claiming medical misinformation
Any links I can read more about this?
inside65··on New HTTP standards for caching on the modern web
I have this same issue and have been working around it by appending to the URL. I'd like to believe there's a better way, but I don't know what it is. Alternatively, I could just disable caching but that would defeat the point.
inside65··on Gov Parson pushes to prosecute reporter who found security flaw in state site
I don't like how you presented your argument. You make it sound like trade schools, with real practical skills like plumbing, involve neither learning nor growing.

Similarly, critical thinking should be learned long before college age. If you're learning that during college, you've got a very late start.

Maybe that's not what you meant, but that's pretty much what you've written.

inside65··on Facts every web dev should know before they burn out and turn to painting
People here bash PHP often, but if you've been developing on PHP, it only gets better over time.
inside65··on Meat and mental health: Meat eaters suffer less depression, anxiety
There are many considerations to take into account. Nutrition is not one size fits all, but the general rule which does apply is moderation and balance. A completely sedentary lifestyle would have higher risk for disease if they had the same diet as, for example, a professional athlete.
inside65··on Meat and mental health: Meat eaters suffer less depression, anxiety
Many people have not studied nutrition, or not studied it properly, and associate fats as in lipids with fat as in being overweight when this is in fact not the case and the various types of fats are both essential and provide energy to become an active person. Like you, I run 20+ miles a week, eat beef everyday and I'm the skinniest person I know.
inside65··on O&O ShutUp10++ – Free anti-spy tool for Windows 10, 11
I've been using this since W10 came out. It works, but as others mention, some parts seem to stop working magically over time.
inside65··on Why I'm donating $150/month (10% of my income) to the musl Libc project (2019)
Could you clarify (I'm just confused) how is your income 4K a month but you say to make 160K a year from ZSF. Is the significant difference all donated back?
inside65··on Ask HN: Is HN having problem keeping up today?
The original comment in the thread has that information, and it's nothing to write home about. Maybe it has improved since, but it's not like they're running a network of supercomputers.
inside65··on The Gradual Discovery of Glasses
Quite a good read. Development in the world of eyeglasses seems as slow then as it is now. There are no major innovations in eyeglasses, probably due to the monopoly by luxottica.

Eyeglasses today have pretty much leveled out at slim lenses with blue light filter. Admittedly, they're pretty nice (Cryzal in particular). The best frames I have seen let you drop in different sets of lenses (oakley switch series).

inside65··on Ruby removed “Participants will be tolerant of opposing views” from its CoC
I understood what you meant and agree. I believe many social justice obsessed individuals have become their own worst enemy as they view every unrelated topic an attack on their personal perspective.
inside65··on Ruby removed “Participants will be tolerant of opposing views” from its CoC
Equality once meant tolerance and acceptance of differences. Now it means if you disagree with me, you're a leftist or a trumper or a thisthatortheotherphobe.
inside65··on As a solo developer, I decided to offer phone support (2017)
Not to negate the issues presented, but the severity seems overblown. Since when is using social media to talk to friends or going to a show of the nature implied here a "normal human thing"? Pretty sure majority of the world's population are living their lives without these. Seems like first world problems. Maybe that's the real issue plaguing americans, and I say this as an american myself, they have too many "first world problems" and don't appriciate simpler things.
inside65··on The reason employees aren't returning to work in America [video]
How much does that daycare cost and what area do you live?
inside65··on The reason employees aren't returning to work in America [video]
Not picking on you but this scenario is so common I find it borderline humorous as it is so outrageously ridiculous. Both parents working all day and the kids getting a mediocre upbringing under the care of strangers - now that's freedom! Thank goodness for democracy and equality helping us improve our society. Where would we be if only 1 parent worked and the other took care of the kids.
inside65··on The Reemergent 1977 H1N1 Strain and the Gain-of-Function Debate (2015)
What is it you recommend about it?
inside65··on GM tells some Bolt owners to park 50 feet away from other cars
I still dont understand how that is safer. If the car is on fire, you can get out. I have been to many car fires when I volunteered with the FD and unless it's a wreck with entrapment, there's never any injury. In comparison, there are plenty of deaths from fires starting while people are sleeping.
inside65··on GM tells some Bolt owners to park 50 feet away from other cars
How is it safer for a car to catch fire in your garage while you're asleep? This is clearly the more dangerous situation.
inside65··on RIP Jekyll (The Genesis of the Jamstack)
Can you share a link? Would like to see.
