intexpress··on Google kills Earth AI generator after one day
I liked the feature (once I figured out how to access it, so confusing). But it only let you generate 1 image per day. So kind of useless.
intexpress··on Half-Life ported to Mac OS 9
It sounds like Valve was misled to believe that the Mac sales would be X which would have justified long term Mac support/updates, but in reality the sales were going to be 10% of X...
intexpress··on Studio Canal Movies purchased on PlayStation Store removed without refund
Sounds like the PlayStation Store is planning to stop selling and renting any movies?

Otherwise Sony would have refunded these Studio Canal purchases to maintain the trustworthiness of their store

intexpress··on The Boeing 747 begins its final descent
> Wouldn't one expect more engines to be safer?

Right, the more engines the better…

intexpress··on The Boeing 747 begins its final descent
I will miss the 747. Modern planes with less engines feel less safe. I hate all the justifications used to fly long distances across oceans with only 2 engines, or only 1 engine.
intexpress··on Steam Machine launches today
Switch 2 performs very well for the price. It is getting the same games as PS5 etc.
intexpress··on Is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
Apple Maps has been better than Google Maps for at least 10 years and nowadays the way that Google Maps improves is often just by copying Apple Maps
intexpress··on A recent experience with ChatGPT 5.5 Pro
Not necessarily. Humans brains use a tiny amount of power. Most of the human cost would be due to the very high cost of housing in many locations.
intexpress··on Oracle slashes 30k jobs
Yahoo reported the same 30,000 number in February

intexpress··on Oracle slashes 30k jobs
Usually the big tech companies leak the layoff numbers to the press themselves
intexpress··on Palestinian boy, 12, describes how Israeli forces killed his family in car
I don’t think anyone is going to forget about this
intexpress··on Atlassian to cut roughly 1,600 jobs in pivot to AI
Atlassian was famously bootstrapped and profitable since inception. They were one of the only profitable tech companies at a time when everyone else was busy making bigger and bigger losses.

If they have really been unprofitable for the last decade that is very sad.

intexpress··on AI should not replace people at Atlassian, says CEO
> one company can handcraft the tool with optimisations much better than AI can ever dream of

You have never used an Atlassian product

intexpress··on Where things stand with the Department of War
It's because they need enormous amounts of money for their datacenters

And enormous amount of political support because of the negative perception of AI in society

intexpress··on Layoffs at Block
So... XYZ stock hits an all time low and they decide to layoff half the staff and see if that raises the share price (it did).

This has nothing to do with AI. It is just a desperate move from a badly run company.

intexpress··on Frederick Wiseman, 96, Penetrating Documentarian of Institutions, Dies
He made some amazing documentaries. His documentary on Jackson Heights is really good.

He probably needed an editor to help split things up into miniseries though. His films are usually at least 3 hours long and sometimes 4 or 5 hours long.

intexpress··on US repeals EPA endangerment finding for greenhouse gases
One step closer to Spaceballs
intexpress··on Amazon is ending all inventory commingling as of March 31, 2026
At least 10 years too late
intexpress··on US electricity demand surged in 2025 – solar handled 61% of it
Thanks for sharing, although I don't understand how Saul expects everyone to buy electric cars. They are much too expensive in Australia and the charging infrastructure is not well distributed. Electric cars are also a massive risk in fires (they were a big problem in the LA fires), and Australia has a lot of fires.

Even an electrified kitchen (which Saul also suggests for everyone) is iffy in Australia, because good freestanding ovens with induction cooktops cost about 3x what freestanding ovens with a gas cooktop would cost, not to mention the electrical rewiring costs, which could be substantial especially if a conversion to 3-phase is needed.

There is a very funny nuclear power plant in France which is located in such a way to be surrounded on 3 sides by Belgium instead of by France. (EDF Nuclear Power Plant Chooz)
intexpress··on GOG Patrons- Join gamers keeping classics alive
This patron thing seems weird. GOG should just accept preorders for games that aren’t available yet. And use that money to make the game available.
intexpress··on Netflix to Acquire Warner Bros
A few recent Warner Bros films / coproductions

Imagine if these had not had theatrical releases, or, had only had 1 week limited releases just to qualify for awards..

intexpress··on DOOM could have had PC Speaker Music
The music sounds great but stopping the music to play sound effects sounds terrible
intexpress··on I'm 62. Stop Telling Me I'm Old
I know (knew) quite a lot of people who died in their 60s, to their surprise and mine.

For a very recent example, Rebecca Heineman just died at 62.

intexpress··on 'No One Lives Forever' turns 25 and you still can't buy it legitimately
If you like NOLF then check out Deathloop. It is the closest thing I have played to a NOLF sequel. Great game.
intexpress··on Valve is about to win the console generation
To win this console generation and outsell the PS5, Valve would have to sell 85 million Steam Machines (as of today, and likely need to sell 120 million by the end of the generation). About a 0% chance of that happening.

Looks cool, though

intexpress··on EVs are depreciating faster than gas-powered cars
I buy used all the time. It is way cheaper and new things are usually not much better (sometimes new things are worse).

For example a lot of new TVs are worse than old TVs, because new TVs have ads in their UIs, and increasingly new TVs don't even come with remotes anymore.

intexpress··on Verily is closing its medical device program, shifts resources to AI
Isn't Verily a medical devices company... ?
intexpress··on We built an air-gapped Jira alternative for regulated industries
A version of JIRA that nobody can access sounds pretty good
intexpress··on Chromium Switching from Ninja to Siso
> That work building “yet another build tool” could have gone in to programmatically generating bazel BUILD files.

Google did try that for Android (AOSP). They made a tool that generated thousands? of BUILD files to get AOSP building with Bazel.

But the migration to Bazel was aborted for unknown reasons.
