itsnot2020··on If you use Carta to manage your cap table, they will spam all your investors
Well I haven't received any spam from Carta so possibly they're only spamming celebrity investors...
itsnot2020··on Robinhood is said to draw on bank credit lines amid tumult
Citadel Securities LLC (market maker) has a relationship with Robinhood, Citadel LLC (hedge fund) the one with the short doesn't. Read into this what you want.
itsnot2020··on IKEA buys 11,000 acres of U.S. forest to keep it from being developed
Historically no it's not, my parents still have a lot of IKEA furniture bought in the 1970s made of real wood which gets used every day.
itsnot2020··on IKEA buys 11,000 acres of U.S. forest to keep it from being developed
It did used to last a lifetime though, my parents bought some items in the 1970s which they still use today (stools, shelves and the odd table), it still looks good as well.
itsnot2020··on FBI agents track cell phones that pinged near the Capitol
There are a few CCC talks of interest around this:

itsnot2020··on Dropbox to cut 11% of its global workforce
I'm very happy with Tresorit - https://tresorit.com
itsnot2020··on Visa and Plaid Abandon Merger After Antitrust Division’s Suit to Block
Well as both a Visa card user and Plaid customer I suppose I'm happy about this!
itsnot2020··on Azlo Is Closing Down
I have business accounts with Chase, SVB and Mercury and Mercury is definitely the best experience for what I need. I'm sure you could outgrow its services pretty easily but for now it's perfect.

Plus I like all these challengers snapping at the incumbents, have you seen the SVB app and website, even Chase put them to shame.

itsnot2020··on Azlo Is Closing Down
I've been very happy with Mercury, possibly the most basic of offerings here compared to all the others but I haven't had any issues and they're constantly improving.
itsnot2020··on Poll: Switching from WhatsApp
You're right, I must have activated that toggle years ago and forgotten about it. Yes the SMS fallback could be painful if you're not paying attention.
itsnot2020··on Poll: Switching from WhatsApp
The reason I originally signed-up to WhatsApp was because of spending more and more time in Brazil and realising how ingrained in society it is. Even though a lot of my friends and family there have iPhones, none use iMessage.
itsnot2020··on WhatsApp gives users an ultimatum: Share data with Facebook or stop using app
Out of interest, what do you use instead?
itsnot2020··on What I Use Instead of Google
Well their offering is much simpler than that of AWS, Azure or GCP. I've been using them for over 5 years now without any issues, it's often the case that you get what you pay for but Linode do a very good job for their price point (yes they've had their issues but so have Gandi, Digital Ocean, ... any other competitor).
itsnot2020··on 81k UK-owned .eu domains suspended as Brexit transition ends
https://hover.com offers telephone support though it's not 24 hours, always been helpful though.
itsnot2020··on 5M+ Wordpress sites use “Classic Editor” plugin
Of all the Wordress sites I help manage, some pre 'Gutenberg' and the rest post 'Gutenberg' only 2 are using Gutenberg, the rest have either stuck with or gone back to the Classic editor. For most users it's just too confusing.
itsnot2020··on Show HN: I made an alternative platform for professional profiles
Love the clean look, certainly a break from LinkedIn.

Some minor feedback, it's strange that all the external links in your CV have an arrow next to them apart from the one at the very top of the page under your name [0] where you link to your website.

itsnot2020··on Working from Bed
I've worked from home pretty much my entire career (over 20 years now, and am fortunate to have a dedicated office) and the last thing I ever want to do is work from bed.

I need some distance between my bedroom and office both physically and mentally.

itsnot2020··on The CIA Rebrands with a New Website
Have a read through the section 508 guidelines [0] from the US government, they link off to a couple of good sites detailing what the text should be.

itsnot2020··on The CIA Rebrands with a New Website
Similar to what Facebook does automatically [0] which was easily visible with an outage they had in 2019 [1].

itsnot2020··on Ask HN: How do I get people to find my pre-launch landing page?
I'm been working on the same problem, it's a hard grind though when you're starting from zero.

I've started to get some traction though with constant tweaking of my landing page. Unfortunately unless you get some third-party recommendation you'll most likely have to pay for it at least for now.

itsnot2020··on Dogger Bank's giant turbines herald a wind of change in UK industry
Like in Palm Springs where they are replacing 460 wind turbines with 11 for the same energy production.
