itzprime··on Tesla profits drop 43% in Q3
The interior of Tesla's feel cheaper than a 2013 Mitsubishi space star.
itzprime··on 3rd Yandex Cloud Data Center Was Hit
It literally changed to basically have exclusively state registered media, is closely aligned with Putin (and has Putin allies in big positions). So no its pretty clear that they hit it
itzprime··on GIMP Development Update
The learning curve certainly is a lot steeper than Photoshop or similar tools, and the GUI is very much counter intuitive compared to other graphics tools. Add that it lacked tons of nondestructive editing, smart objects etc. The poping out of different panels also get annoying super quick.
itzprime··on Bending Spoons to acquire Airtable for $1.285B
After Evernote, Vimeo, WeTransfer and Meetup - now Airtable will be enshittified
itzprime··on Writing by hand is good for your brain
Because it is about learning. You can't learn a hard phrase on an instrument without slowing down. You can't touch type fastly without learning the motions slowly first.
itzprime··on Tesla ending Models S and X production
They are actually behind in a lot of their self driving to other car companies
itzprime··on Ask HN: Is there a good open-source alternative to Adobe Acrobat?

itzprime··on Ask HN: What are some iconic comments on HN?
Here we are 12 years later and Coinbase has the highest fees of any.
itzprime··on She slept with a violin on her pillow
That is just the current instrument market. It hates most things that look new and super polished.

Also the classical world is super biased in their ways when it comes to equipment

itzprime··on Ask HN: How do I find the right mentor with proven experience?
You have 15 years of experience. You are likely the mentor, than the mentee. Anyway here is the easiest one: https://sive.rs/ment

a yes, they already said that already in 2015, 2017
itzprime··on Mozilla names new CEO as it pivots to data privacy
nearly everyone that is not in the insanity that is the US Exec market.
itzprime··on Apple to EU: "Go fuck yourself"
Europe is 25% of Apples Revenues. If they exit with the App Store, nobody is going to buy an iPhone anymore.
itzprime··on Ask HN: Why does Steam go down every Tuesday?
Because Valve doesn't have an insane amount of employees and since it is not critical software, the downtime is fine.
itzprime··on Ask HN: Do You Self Host?
used to self host email, but not getting blacklisted was pure pain - so I switched to fastmail.

I stopped mostly hosting things, using Syncthing to sync my files. Don't need a lot more.

itzprime··on Ask HN: What is a subscription, software or product that you gladly paid for
What makes iDrive stand out compared to other options?

While he does not live "healthy", I read somewhere that he is particular about getting a certain amount of calories each day.
itzprime··on Warren Buffett Bought $1bn Stake in Activision Weeks Before Microsoft Deal
It was probably not Buffett, but either Todd or Ted. Before the Microsoft Deal was lucky, both of them had incredible returns - as their allocation capital is much lower.
itzprime··on Myopia treatment 'smart glasses' from Japan to be sold in Asia
My eye-doctor an old guy just before retirement said after being asked about laser treatments: He had a patient that spent 5k on a laster surgery. Nothing went wrong, but it didn't improve his eyes. It would have been better to go on a good vacation.

There is sadly no guarantee that they help, and they can damage your eyes in the worst case.

itzprime··on The Windows 11 taskbar is an annoying step backward
That would require the search to work properly. Search for Device Manager: Dev - Devi - Device - Device Manager (Internet Suggestions). What? Search for Resolve (Da Vinci Resolve) it tries to suggest resolve. I find search in windows is unusable. Windows 11 is slightly better than 10, but not a lot.
itzprime··on Microsoft forked MIT licensed repo and changed the copyright [fixed]
How has Microsoft reformed? Windows 11 is more intrusive than ever, it changes default programms more frequently to their desired programms and it is so annyoing to switch browser. THey still are the same old.
itzprime··on Credit Suisse seeks access to personal staff mobiles
There is a joke that no financial scandal is proper without the involvement of Credit Suisse. Seems they also want a pie of those privacy and security scandals.
itzprime··on A $5B hoard of aluminum
Yes, but that is mainly due to the US & EU using more gas.
itzprime··on If Apple keeps letting its software slip, the next big thing won’t matter
Yes it is bloat. But there is a difference in easy to get rid bloat (just delete them in Apple) vs needing to change registry settings, etc and jump over several hoops to remove the bloat that comes with windows
itzprime··on Ask HN: How far away are we from mass-deployed self-driving vehicles?
Have you seen the footage? It often can't turn left properly, and that is in easy to read american streets that are wider than European Highways.
itzprime··on Ask HN: What are some scams that are yet to go bust?
I would say Tesla's "FSD". For years they have promised it and cashed in the money, making it even non-transferable. FSD is still years away from working.
itzprime··on Led by France, 10 EU countries call on Brussels to label nuclear energy as green
Wind wasn't blowing the last few months, coal is back on top. https://www.dw.com/en/germany-coal-tops-wind-as-primary-elec...
itzprime··on Mailchimp insiders react to employees getting no equity from Intuit sale
The majority of companies don't give equity in the world. And those who do only give it to certain employees. As they don't violate RSU or stock compensation plans they didn't withheld equities. If I created a successful company, I would also say that I would never sell. However $12B is multi-generational wealth and with it you can do anything you want. So that sum would also pursuade me.
itzprime··on Ask HN: What tiny purchases have disproportionately improved your life?
For this I have the months written on 2 pages where I can set appointments. I also dont write out daily things in advance. Just the date and what i have to do that day
