jacktheturtle··on Show HN: Plain – The full-stack Python framework designed for humans and agents
Nice. Love the idea behind this. I have been using Django for most of my vibe coded side projects just for the reasons stated in this thesis.

Django code is pretty easy to review quickly. LLMs are good at writing it.

Django is just old and bloated, so the fork is a good idea. Maybe I will use this for my next side project.

jacktheturtle··on Replit for Sheets
cool product for quickly sharing sheets with other people without needing a google account
jacktheturtle··on We gave 5 LLMs $100K to trade stocks for 8 months
This is really dumb. Because the models themselves, like markets, are indeterministic. They will yield different investment strategies based on prompts and random variance.

This is a really dumb measurement.

jacktheturtle··on John Giannandrea to retire from Apple

jacktheturtle··on Realtime BART Arrival Display

jacktheturtle··on A shift in developer culture is impacting innovation and creativity
Do you have any recommendations for younger devs like myself, who have been surrounded by hustle culture & everyone being a founder?

I personally love the craft, but battle the entrepreneur in my brain telling me not to waste time learning things that won't bring tangible value.

jacktheturtle··on Show HN: I built an app to block Shorts and Reels
I am an iOS user and I really need this. I love the Youtube App, but I can't stand having it auto open to shorts... They are truly mining my brain through this action.

jacktheturtle··on Tesla sales drop 35% in San Diego County
much of the markets reacted with a positive motion. markets are a place to vote. that's fine.

obstructing sales, damaging personal property, and attacking utility locations are not a well intentioned way to vote & voice political opinion.

jacktheturtle··on Tesla sales drop 35% in San Diego County
i don’t understand how so many people are doing such illogical actions and justifying it because of “Elon”. Elon != Tesla..

get off social media and read something, come to your own conclusions. don’t just blindly follow others.

jacktheturtle··on SQLite-on-the-Server Is Misunderstood: Better at Hyper-Scale Than Micro-Scale
SQLite is a very good technology.
jacktheturtle··on Ask HN: SWEs how do you future-proof your career in light of LLMs?
i'm not worried, because as a solid senior engineer my "training data" largely is not digitized or consumable by a model yet. I don't think we will have enough data in the near future to threaten my entire job, only support me in the easier parts of it.
jacktheturtle··on Show HN: Jelly – A simpler shared inbox for small teams
