I hope you are right. still waiting for iphone air flip and a mbp that folds into a tablet with apple pencil support. this is such an obvious product.

best analysis of this I have seen.

It’s true. I have a voip app which is for business. pretty muchh no one calls me i dont call anyone. my phone is silent.i turn off notifications. i check it when i want to. last call i made was to the pharmacy a month ago. i just dont need it and I dont need other people calling me even less.

Another point that possibly speaks to the OP wrt his elder fathers wise words.

During covid there was a lot of stuff on tv in place of regular programming. not that i watch much TV (insert the onion link) but i saw these people on acreen and i thought ‘who are they?’ and the I realised that I didnt even care who they were. And that it didnt matter. I had officially reached that point in life where I can look back at my father asking me the same question about someone one (probaly the latest celeb or whatever) on TV 30 years ago and me being confused as to why he didnt know or didnt seem to care. Now I understand.

arghhh ‘quietly becoming’ I smell AI

i don’t think so. it’sa cool project i don’t know how many developers they have but they seem to be making slow and steady progress. was it originally supposed to ‘recreate’/binary compatible win2k? are we about 25 years down the line here ?

in most cases people are likely to run wine if they need that compatibility so i think this is kinds like haiku and beos and other similar endeavors.

i wonder how much ai is helping with the effort.

i too like vivaldi for the same reasons. i use brave, chrome for google stuff, firefox if i need a third browser but i use vivaldi mostly. except on mac where i still use safari

stage manager is just a worse implementation of the old ‘auto hide other apps’ flag that has been broken for some time now. shame. i preffered that mode and it might have been the default on early builds on os x Steve jobs used it in his presentations.

I like it. Can we have a general glamour mode plugin for all web pages.

I had this question. Then I read the bit of the page with the sentence that starts ‘The quasi-proportional families:’

I wish it would work for https://www.westcoasttoday.co.uk/ i.e. Oban Time like this article https://www.westcoasttoday.co.uk/news/piping-contests-and-pi...

What makes them look like QT apps ? To me I can't see anything identifiable, they look like generic web apps with a mac OS border.

exactly. i too remember getting into vcd and svcd as a way to get video to my tv. I remember making some sort of Matrox to SCART lead and later I eventually got a TV (sony tritron) with s-vid that also helped the transition. it wasn’t until I got a plasma (px80) and popcorn hour a110 that i freed myself up from hacky cds and trailing wires. this was early 2000’s

Sorry yes. I see what was meant now.

Im not talking about cost im talking about relative size of batterys.

What would be REALLY vaulable would be a 141% enlarge mode. Ie since the screens are the same ratio there is no reason that when open it could just display exactly the same except larger. This is a piece of piss to program if they haven’t already put it in accessibility settings. This feature alone would drive certain demographics to this device.

I had a 12 mini and although batt life could be a complaint for me it was fine since i charged in car on cummute 2x a day and was never farther 10 feet from a charger if required so it actually worked really well. This is the same argument EV proponents make when people complain about lack of card with 500 mile range. In practical terms its just very rarely actually needed.

Gun, possibly?

Tell your kids ‘no’

Bring some sanity back to the world.

You need plex pass to do this now. They changed it recently you didnt used to need it.

It shouldnt be blurry unless its a 1440p screen running at 1080..

Why use any? Why force yourself to comply with the arbitrary limitations imposed by some third party somehwere. For what?

What makes it ’quiet’?

I found Thimbleweed Park 1 very difficult. The puzzles were too hard. I didn't complete it. I tried to play it with my girlfriend, I thought it would be a nice game to work together to play/solve. It stumped both of us. No fun.

Just a note: using the noir plugin for safari i had to disable it as the map is dark and invisible. Maybe its a layer thing.

This is really neat. Could this data be linked to quality of life indexes and see if there’s any correlation?

it is possible in normal mine sweeper to have a postion where you cant determine 100% whether a square is a mine or not. In this cases you just have to guess. Try to identify them early as possible since they can ruin the game with an unlucky guess.

Just tell him you are working on juggling 5 balls.

This decodes to "SEGFAULT ERROR".

The corrupted, glitchy text visual style is commonly known as Zalgo text, created by combining many special overlapping character symbols.

Yes. Its a red flag that indicates everything else you’ve said is not honest by implication.

yes i meant polar coords

It's cool I like it, but seems a little overkill on the HW. no matter. One thing though, how is the screen 1080px1080 ? Is it a 1080p square, with the visible pixles a circle cut out of that ? I doubt it's a non rectilinear pixel grid. i guess it's x y coords, rather than cartesian ?
