It's just what some PM thinks sounds cool

Who the fuck knows they roll out so many updates it's impossible to keep track

jazdwon How Japanese Dried Bonito Is Made

I mean I'm sure there are machines that do it, not that I'd expect this factory to use one. More just commenting on how tedious this must be.

jazdwon How Japanese Dried Bonito Is Made

Deboning that many fillets by hand is insane

jazdwon A skeptic's first contact with Kubernetes (2024)

I'm on the same plan (from buying a Pixel) and it's available to me

jazdwon JetBrains reported a net financial loss first time in its tracked history

I've been thinking about doing the same, what did you migrate to? I was thinking GitHub actions but the outage yesterday reinforced that it might be a bad idea.

jazdwon iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27

I got a MacBook a few weeks ago, first Apple computer I have ever owned. I was so surprised when I plugged my 4K monitor into it, there didn't seem to be a way to run it at native resolution and all the text was aliased.

jazdwon How credit card rewards became a $9.2B wealth transfer

Lol because in order to get 2.625% cashback at BoA you need to have $1,000,000 in your BoA accounts, maybe that's why it's hard?

jazdwon Vanishing home field advantage in English football

The Goodison Park (built 1892) away dressing rooms are really Spartan and uncomfortable. They are poorly heated, are right under the stand (noisy), there's only one toilet etc.

jazdwon You can't leak users' data if you don't hold it

We shouldn't make blanket statements

jazdwon You can't leak users' data if you don't hold it

Except you can leak data even if you don't hold it. You are focusing on data at rest. Not storing the data obviously helps massively, but a bug or maliciously inserted code could lead to user data becoming compromised.

jazdwon Lodash just declared issue bankruptcy and closed every issue and open PR

Most users spend trivial time filling issues however. Most bug reports are crap.

jazdwon What I wish someone would have told me about using RabbitMQ (2020)

Is publishing a request to a queue and then polling for a response a typical pattern for a distributed web application?

jazdwon Hacking a VW Golf Power Steering ECU

Great write up! I am the author of the TP2.0 page you linked to. I went through a very similar process to you, ended up disassembling the code for a Siemens PPD ECU (PowerPC architecture from memory, it was about 10 years ago) so I could turn of the DPF regeneration functionality.
