But her e-mail server!
jefurii··on Democrats' Secret Effort to Stack Alaska's Ballot
Republicans are really grasping at straws here
jefurii··on The US added a record 20.2 GWh of battery storage in just 3 months
Username doesn't quite fit here
jefurii··on Brown student maps the hidden global labor powering AI
People in white shirts can't sit in air-conditioned rooms and program computers if other people aren't out there growing and harvesting and shipping food.
jefurii··on I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my repositories
Yep Linus certainly jumped the shark at the 2026 maintainers summit the other week.
jefurii··on I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my repositories
That factory produced chair is way more likely to end up as landfill than a hand-made one. The AI-generated slopware generates the landfill (ie pollution and the jobkilling) before it's delivered to you.
jefurii··on I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my repositories
Transcription is one legitimate use for LLMs that archivists are excited about. It's a case of a tedious task that frees them up to do the more interesting parts of the jobs, and the product is something that can be easily compared to the original and verified. This is very different from something like writing prose or code.
jefurii··on Trump says anyone who uses the phrase "artificial intelligence" is "the enemy"
He makes his people lie or do stupid and demeaning things as a way of testing their loyalty to him.
jefurii··on An operating system that belongs to Europe
Project started in June 2026 and has 681 commits, only two contributors, and one of them is Claude. Hosted on Github. "EU only" and "sovereign"?
jefurii··on Using multiple Git remotes for true distributed version control
It's good to remind the community about this periodically
jefurii··on Vibecoding isn't a crime How Distribute Your App on Linux after Flathub refusal
Sure it's not a crime but I don't want your vibe-coded shit mingling with my actual code written by actual humans.
jefurii··on ZSA Backpack
"Introducing the world’s first backpack built for split keyboard users."
jefurii··on Rethinking Space Opera
A post by Charles Stross with thoughts on a new book that gets 6 points and no comments. Hacker News has really changed.
jefurii··on Show HN: Hacker News, Without AI
I think it's useful, and maybe an indication of something positive.
jefurii··on The reasons you procrastinate, and how to stop
Looks interesting, will read later.
jefurii··on Young People Hate AI CEOs So Passionately That It's Almost Hard to Believe
What's so surprising? The AI CEOs hate them and are trying to destroy the world they live in along with their job prospects.
jefurii··on Kubernetes on Oxide: How customer needs shaped our integrations

jefurii··on As AI eats the web, the internet’s collective memory is disappearing
Agreed except for the "immense value" part.
jefurii··on A California aquifer may have crossed the point of no return
I took an agricultural ecology class in college in the early 90s and the professor predicted this would happen. I'd talk to farmer relatives and they'd get all angry and tell me nobody can tell me what to do on my land. More recently I'd talk to people about this and they'd tell me no way they'd eat less beef or stop drinking almond milk. Humans are idiots.
jefurii··on An Uncomplicated Man – A review of The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan
> Nothing is in focus

IIRC there was a lot of bokeh which seemed to me like an artistic choice.

jefurii··on Forestiere Underground Gardens
"Well, if there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from."
jefurii··on Why is Meta destroying its engineering organization?
The elves are leaving Middle Earth..
jefurii··on TinyWind: A pixel pirate sailing game with real wind physics (380k+ kms sailed)
This would be a different game but I'd enjoy just sailing around semi-realistic maps with realistic wind. I pixellated Hundred Rabbits simulator would be pretty cool.
jefurii··on Accelerando (2005)
Love The Daemon and FreedomTM! They are very different from most of the AI singularity novels. I wish the Daemon was real and I could move to a holon...
jefurii··on Project Gutenberg – keeps getting better
When I thought about Project Gutenberg I remembered that original brutalist non-design. The current site has been very tastefully updated but looks like it's still very accessible if you turn styles off. Great job!
jefurii··on Ask HN: Why do people hate using AI so much?
> What i will say though is that (for me anyways) working with an llm like Claude can be mentally taxing because of how fast we can move together.

"we". Not creepy at all. AI is not a person.

jefurii··on Ask HN: Why do people hate using AI so much?
I hate how it's being pushed in my face so much. Any time you see such heavy marketing it's a red flag.

> Let's ignore the potential job loss implications, and consuming AI-generated content/slop...

LOL!

jefurii··on Permacomputing Principles
Sorry to break it to you, but computing is totally related to colonialism. Where do you think the materials that go into a modern computer come from? It'd be nice if all that was mined in the good ol' U.S. of A but it's not, and that's where we get connected to colonialism. Not to mention labor.
