jimhi··on Show HN: Making native mobile apps on the phone for the phone
Open source models are there if you run on your home computer and connect to that. Although to run on your phone natively may take another year or two
jimhi··on 30papers.com – Ilya's 30 essential ML papers, in a beginner friendly format
I haven’t looked at your other comments but the answer is your comment isn’t valuable.

Text to speech summarizing is a dime a dozen. Your audience here prefers reading a blog and is already annoyed by ai vs written by a human content so what you are offering is the opposite of what they want.

jimhi··on Holding Community Space
Shoot me email, I might not be the best for the details on that but I could intro someone on their who might be better on their team. I run their memberships as part of a platform called Pools https://pools.events/o/synth_library_portland/
jimhi··on Holding Community Space
This looks awesome, the owner of this substack is a good resource and writes lots of case studies.

I am not based in Portland myself but I run the ticketing and membership program for Synth Library Portland which is a really cool spot. The biggest thing with all these spaces is how to make it work financially over the long term.

Feel free to ping me.

jimhi··on I'm helping my dog vibe code games
Oddly relevant for my multiyear project on getting my dog to vibe code b2b saas products https://dogomation.darefail.com/
jimhi··on Training my dog to vibe code B2B SaaS apps
I saw https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47139675 and figured this multiyear project was relevant for more serious dog owners
jimhi··on Show HN: DarePhone – Customers update your website from live chat complaints
I run a live chat / SMS / email tool and decided to test sending the customer's requests directly to the code base. They are always a few who complain about certain buttons not being in a good spot or wording or not having dark mode.

This is a way for them to customize it to what they want

jimhi··on OpenAI acquires Sky.app
Thanks for sharing, absolutely amazing
jimhi··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (October 2025)
Short answer is I would just recommend one of the tons of tax software out there specific to LLC, individual, 501c3. My site helps with the raising money part and just integrates and gives advice for that
jimhi··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (October 2025)

jimhi··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (October 2025)
This is sick - I happen to run a site for DIY and community organizations like yours. We have proven the best way to fundraise is to throw events like you did but to upsell people on a recurring donation when they get the ticket.

On the off chance you are throwing another event, I would love to help you raise much more than $800 one time (my site is https://withfriends.events/)

jimhi··on Show HN: Get the attention of sales prospects by eating a photo of their face
I have been testing out better methods than the typical cold calling and emails and think I really nailed it.

I found this technology has many applications beyond outbound sales as well

jimhi··on I launched 17 side projects. Result? I'm rich in expired domains
Yep https://dare.fail/ but also at least finish the things
jimhi··on Hand: open-source Robot Hand
This is the craziest thing I’ve seen in awhile
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
He was originally a big investor not a founder (or at least set it up to look that way)
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
If you read what I wrote, it doesn't even need to actually be 5 years if the person does some creative stuff with options which I have personally seen.
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
That is "only" ~100k or a so a year and if they aren't in the USA more than ~30 days a year. Small potatoes and arguably makes some sense.
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
I wish. I know several people in person who do this. Read some of the other commenters saying how this is their standard mode of operation and they don't see any problem with any of this.
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
I saw, I will be keeping a watch if it becomes law.
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
The entirety of my blog was written pre-chatgpt and pre-scheduled. You can even check the images I use for all blog posts which were the first generation of ai images from 2021 which are quite bad looking now. LLMs were too awful to use nor would I use them.
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
Wow for some reason I thought he was 65 already, thanks for the correction
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
This article is literally only about legal means to not pay tax when your company makes a profit
jimhi··on How to not pay your taxes legally, apparently
They are proposing to raise ours to 15 million person https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44471896
jimhi··on QSBS Limits Raised
I actually just wrote about this in more detail last week: https://mrsteinberg.com/how-to-not-pay-your-taxes-legally-ap...
jimhi··on QSBS Limits Raised
This applies per person. When startup founders realize their stock is actually worth a lot they form trusts and each one gets QSBS. Each trust must be to a different person.

I personally know people who stack 5-10 trusts for as many family members as they can. This appears to give them 50% more tax-free money (10 to 15 million) per person in their trusts.

jimhi··on Show HN: Western Duel with head and hand tracking
very much in progress but part of a whole series of demo-ing I am doing of trying to make wii and vr games without special equipment https://ai.darefail.com/3d/how/
jimhi··on Happy 20th birthday, Y Combinator
Wow! I've read all the essays and thought I knew all the startups ideas he had tried by now. This is a new one.
jimhi··on Ask HN: What happens when you type "cube" into your Mac finder search bar?
that's fine but " cube" also crashes
jimhi··on Postmortem: Rateloaf.com is shutting down after rating 3,120 cats
You can browse all 3,120 cats and try to find the few dogs that were submitted.

We will try another shot at this one day
