jjtwixman··on Tesla Roadster
Musk seems quite evil though.
jjtwixman··on Why were Victorian elites so effective?
80% impoverished Indians and a unified India is still pretty powerful in the 19th century though.
jjtwixman··on Why were Victorian elites so effective?
Okay.
jjtwixman··on The United Kingdom generates less electricity per person than in the 1970s
Because of no AC?

People from the global south like you forget how far north Europe is. Much of Europe never needed it. Now maybe it does for a week or two per year. Things will change.

jjtwixman··on Why were Victorian elites so effective?
Germany didn’t want to destroy the British and French empires. They wanted continental domination and their “place in the sun”. Germany remains central to Europe as is unavoidable but it’s not dominating the continent in the way either the Kaiserreich or the third Reich wanted.

Incidentally there was no greater period of free trade in human history than under British hegemony. Even the US has not pursued unilateral free trade.

jjtwixman··on Why were Victorian elites so effective?
In which European countries were wages higher than in Britain? In which countries were the living conditions so much higher than in Britain in that period? That Britain ruled India and India was poor is no secret but that also doesn’t mean they weren’t powerful.

Also regarding Chesapeake, Britain’s century of hegemony came afterwards. Trafalgar came afterwards, and mattered a lot. Losing that battle doesn’t mean the navy wasn’t globally dominant in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

What’s the Bertrand Russell quote?

You can list a long series of reasons why they were weak and crap, ackshually. But presumably plenty about them was also not weak and crap otherwise they wouldn’t have ended up the global hegemon for a century. Certainly in terms of global trade dominance, at their peak nobody in history has come close, not China and not the USA.

jjtwixman··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
> tax on foreign exploitation

Yeah no not really because none of the tariffs seem to be tied to human rights or exploitation. Otherwise you wouldn't be putting tariffs on your close, democratic allies.

Your post is kind of anti intellectual and retarded tbh.

jjtwixman··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
If you don't care enough about Trump to vote against him then you're at best a gigantic moron.
jjtwixman··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Look at all the presidential systems in the rest of the Americas, they're all mega fucked and third world. Of course the USA Empire is also currently collapsing.

Parliamentary democracy has a better track record, for sure.

jjtwixman··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Parliamentary democracy has a far better track record than presidential systems. Basically all presidential democracies are shit have had had huge problems, except maybe the USA, which is of course no longer even really a western country any more.
jjtwixman··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Have you even been to the UK? Or are you one of those terminally online experts on the "UK understanders" who just makes hyperbolic statements about the place? A bit like that guy Musk.
jjtwixman··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
It's not about economics, it's about politics. The free world hates you. You just don't realise it yet.
jjtwixman··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
His speeches are retarded and don't make any sense.
jjtwixman··on Hamburg's Stadtpark: A Park Built to Be Used
That's a great quote, thanks for sharing it with me.
jjtwixman··on Hamburg's Stadtpark: A Park Built to Be Used
That's true actually, I know an echte Hamburgerin (3 generations both sides) and she's nice, as are her family. The "locals" I just meant the German inhabitants of the city, many of whom of course did not grow up there or are from there or have strong roots in the city.

Like I said, it's a pity, but for a city that claims to be Germany's "gateway to the world", its people are awfully parochial, small-minded, and terribly lacking in curiosity.

jjtwixman··on Hamburg's Stadtpark: A Park Built to Be Used
Hamburg has a lot going for it, it's just a shame the locals are so cold, unfriendly and boring.
jjtwixman··on Magnifica Humanitas
Indeed It's far more necessary that the utter dregs of humanity (e.g. Peter Thiel) eventually die of old age. Or put another way the damage of mortality killing good people is more than offset by the good of it killing the worst people with the most power. Because in the end it's probably not going to be your sweet mother who will get to live forever, it'll be people like Peter Thiel. No thanks, for the good of our species.
jjtwixman··on Green card seekers must leave U.S. to apply, Trump administration says
Sure, and now they don’t need to keep their talent through economic policy. The USA is being kind enough to force them to stay in Europe/Asia :)
jjtwixman··on Trump attacks Pope over criticism of Iran war
Indeed, despite Trump being a known rapist and child rapist, he would normally still attack others for doing what he himself is guilty of.
jjtwixman··on We spoke to the man making viral Lego-style AI videos for Iran
That's probably not why actually. The usage of AI for propaganda in this way is objectively HN-related. But it's making the paedophile/Epstein regime of America look bad so the MAGA base are flagging it.
jjtwixman··on US appeals court declares 158-year-old home distilling ban unconstitutional
Sorry, I couldn't even type it out it would seem, it was too silly.

Anyway, you sound like me when I was about 19, lots of abstract theories and ideas without any ties to the real world we find ourselves in. I don't regret it but I'm glad I grew out of it . It's not stuff to be taken seriously. All the best.

jjtwixman··on US appeals court declares 158-year-old home distilling ban unconstitutional
What an interesting and amusing idea. A king for every country.

Anyway.

jjtwixman··on Trump says US will blockade Strait of Hormuz
If the worst thing you can say about Harris is that she laughed funny, then she was certainly better and more qualified than Trump, who is known to be a paedophile and a rapist, among other things, though importantly also clearly mentally retarded at this point judging by his inability to speak and form coherent sentences. And I personally doubt Harris would have started this retarded war with Iran.
jjtwixman··on We spoke to the man making viral Lego-style AI videos for Iran
Damn that shit slaps. The lyrics are actually not even that incorrect, the Epstein Regime is fucked, it's crazy how happy Americans are to humiliate themselves in front of the world and die for their paedophile regime and for Israel.
jjtwixman··on US appeals court declares 158-year-old home distilling ban unconstitutional
I mean you said it yourself, it's a compromise. Giving the states free reign to terrorise their populations didn't work out so great. The relatively strong federal government of more recent times however seems to have worked out not so badly. Now there's a retarded paedohpile in office starting random wars and of course all bets are off. The US political system actually probably is quite shit, but I don't think it's about centralisation vs decentralisation, but electing an unaccountable king every 4 years is just a retarded and easily exploitable system.
jjtwixman··on US appeals court declares 158-year-old home distilling ban unconstitutional
Seems to have worked rather well though.
jjtwixman··on Am I German or Autistic?
Both Prussia and Austria made their names outside of the historically German lands and ruled over non-Germans. It was in the end Prussia that unified Germany in 1871 having previously defeated Austria. Both settlements following WWs 1 and 2 forbade Germany from unifying with Austria. And now in any case there is no appetite for it regardless of legality.
jjtwixman··on US reputation hits 'depths not seen this century' – and 'may never recover'
What dead horse? White nationalism's key role in the current US regime is no secret.
jjtwixman··on US reputation hits 'depths not seen this century' – and 'may never recover'
Trumps greatest impact was taking the USA outside of Western civilisation I guess. So far. Maybe he’ll drop a nuke tho.

No wonder you lot are losing your minds over the fact the USA is no longer a white country. It’s not even culturally western any more either. Sad!

jjtwixman··on US reputation hits 'depths not seen this century' – and 'may never recover'
The west is Europe and a few other countries, but not the USA anymore. Pity.
