joedunn··on BBC Computer Literacy Project 1980 – 1989
I worked on the bbc machine (and its precursors). Was employee 21 at Acorn. Wish I could say I contributed significantly, but not really. I was there though! Wrote some of the Atom OS among many other things. And the “filing system” that wrote files to cassette tape. Now that was a startup (Acorn, I mean).
joedunn··on Ask HN: Did you code in the 1980s? Which language(s) did you use? What for?
6502 assembly - we were building the Acorn BBC machine (!) BCPL - the "before C" language at Cambridge University Pascal, SNOBOL - just because Modula 2 - because it was sooo cool (and we were using a variant of our own with all kinds of neat stuff - like exceptions!)
