jsonscripter··on CalendarPicker: a new concept for date selection.
It needs some easing and transitions to let the user know what's happening.

Maemo has a similar date picker, by the way. It's vertically, and the scrolling is more intuitive partially due to this fact.

jsonscripter··on File Sharing with an iPad: Ugh
To be fair, although my phone has SSH, Samba, and Transmission for torrents, it can't print until I install a third-party program (and it's still cumbersome).
jsonscripter··on Ask HN: got any food hacks?
I've also found that you don't even need the pot. If you prepare an excess of boiling water and use some to pre-heat your bowl and cover, it's possible to actually cook the couscous sufficiently.
jsonscripter··on Photoshop CS5's new "Content-aware Fill"
Don't worry, I like the direct link to the video better :)
jsonscripter··on How I Ran An Ad on Fox News via Google TV Ads
Maybe I'm jaded, but I like it the way it is.

Too many features and we will soon become reddit :/

jsonscripter··on Ask HN: What are you working on tonight?
I'm working on a Flash game using Flixel for a contest on Newgrounds. There haven't been many submissions so I'm basically just trying to get it done by the deadline :)
jsonscripter··on Shor, I’ll do it
I know I just read something amazing, but my head hurts.
jsonscripter··on New attack cracks common Wi-Fi encryption in a minute
It's in the settings panel for "Wireless" if you have v24 of the firmware.
jsonscripter··on Apple Approves Spotify for iPhone : Six Million Songs in Your Pocket
I thought the new iPhone allowed background applications...? Why can't they play music all the time?

Edit: No really, I'm just asking. Why can't they? Is it banned? I honestly remember hearing the hoopla around background applications a few months ago.

jsonscripter··on More Charts from HN Survey (Income, Age, Work Hours, Work Exp.)

jsonscripter··on Fog detected on Titan
This isn't another viral marketing campaign for FogBugz is it?
jsonscripter··on *.apache.org is currently offline.
For a free and open source project, these guys responded quickly, carefully, and professionally. I'm very impressed by their professionalism.
jsonscripter··on Spotify overtakes iTunes in Sweden
That sounds great. I want it.

But I can't get it. So it's worthless until I can. I'm Canadian.

jsonscripter··on New attack cracks common Wi-Fi encryption in a minute
I kind of want some example source code for, uh, security testing.
jsonscripter··on New attack cracks common Wi-Fi encryption in a minute
If you use DD-WRT you can set up a second virtual access point that can use your internet connection without having access to your local network.
jsonscripter··on Maemo 5 and Nokia n900 press release
Can you tether with other Nokia devices?
jsonscripter··on Things Windows 7 does that Vista doesn't
I think we need an "X number of things every other popular operating system does that Windows doesn't" article. To start off:

  * Multiple users on the same machine at the same time
  * Software repositories
  * Useful software pre-installed (windows doesn't have IM, office tools, or photo editing software)
  * Advanced filesystems available
jsonscripter··on Maemo 5 and Nokia n900 press release
Actually, that's not even important to me. Just the 3G data connectivity. I might just keep my razr for calls :)
jsonscripter··on Maemo 5 and Nokia n900 press release
I want this so bad. It's the first device I've seen that's powerful, open, and available.
jsonscripter··on Apple's sleek upgrade
That's like saying extending a road from 4 miles to 4 million miles makes your car go faster.
jsonscripter··on Windows 7 Sins - New FSF Campaign
It doesn't matter what anyone thinks about Microsoft, but "trusted computing" is definitely BAD. No one wants that stuff.
jsonscripter··on UK says illegal downloaders may lose web access
I wonder what would happen if google.co.uk included a hidden iframe containing an "illegal download", such as a short story or newspaper article. How would the law treat that?
jsonscripter··on Rails-like Quickly tools brings rapid development to Ubuntu
Yeah, that's actually a pretty odd way of doing things. In perl with moose (or just perl6) you just type 'class Foo Bar' in your file and you're good to go.
jsonscripter··on Why I use the MIT licence (by author of Rack)
And you have every right to do that with the GNU Public License too, by the way.
jsonscripter··on Why Can't Gmail Search?
I didn't know. I'm stuck using Outlook 2003 at work :(
jsonscripter··on Why Can't Gmail Search?
I think some people also want timely results. I certainly do.
jsonscripter··on Why Can't Gmail Search?
Gmail search is fast. On outlook, a desktop mail client, it can take up to an hour to search for a simple term, in my experience.
jsonscripter··on On Google and Python
Parrot just hit version 1.5. Maybe I don't see what your point is, but I think Parrot is a sure-fire thing.
jsonscripter··on Rails-like Quickly tools brings rapid development to Ubuntu
If you need to type the same thing over and over, something's usually wrong with what you're doing...

There's Glade which allows you to create your interface and callbacks to be saved in a file. Using the library GladeXML, you can essentially generate all the required code at runtime without all the maintainability woes of actual code being written to disk.
