jsudhams··on Show HN: Sandglass – Distributed, scalable, persistent time-sorted message queue
Like others mentioned you can use SQL transaction but either case i used aerospike wherever i needed ActiveMQ or RabbitMQ or ApolloMQ and works like a champ with no issues of the connection / disconnection etc. It is superfast when compared to DB though slower when compared MQ stuff.

Note: I did not like messaging because of these connectio timeouts and also very confusing to get last message etc, -- Not a pro programmer and use vb.net with .net core

jsudhams··on HP laptops found to have hidden keylogger
The last time i checked the whatever you type in browser, does not end up in text file or notepad. This does show the quality thinking about security. Oh we can enable when we want check things out rather than finding way to add and remove this after informing user
jsudhams··on Uber paid 20-year-old Florida man to keep data breach secret
There are companies who charge 50 to 100K for vulnerabilities test and you will get a 20 to 100 page report with one guy onsite for 5 to 8 days, so no 1 month work is definitively more than 100K worth, even Infosec analyst will get it as one month pay

jsudhams··on Cutting your salary by 40%
I used to be someone who worked only 4 hours max in any company and use remaining time to be on top of tech stacks(SysAdmin). But last four years i self trained on stock trading and it close to be becoming my main job in another year or so. Though i now look for trader jobs where i can trade for profit % but the salaries are no where near in my country for traders.
jsudhams··on Curl’s backdoor threat
Would making sure that every software has libraries packaged/signed and in the same folder as would work? It would minimize common shared lib and updates to the same. THough disk space will be wasted should be still acceptable to many use cases
jsudhams··on As Amazon Pushes Forward with Robots, Workers Find New Roles
I don't think India will be affected at all. Because of the 2 things. Most of the households in middle class only one person works. Otherwise, the 60 to 70 percent of the population is in farming. +Govt kind of already provides minimum wage to live. There are 5 Rs break fast, 108 days of worth govt provided job(Actually no job only money gets distributed about 100 Rs a day), 20 kg rice for 20 Rs, Free bus pass for school kids, laptop, tv, fan etc free for kids,
jsudhams··on Ask HN: How to start afresh in a new domain after years of expertise in another?
I must say I was thinking doing what you love matters but I do what I love now i.e. designing infrastructure but it gets overwhelming, I don't like being forced to work when I don't feel. So I have decided to make more money asap and retire do what I love later. I really changed my path after reading 16 ways to fail book. Though many won't agree here, I think financial freedom is basic to live and do what you love.So i started looking at the career as job sometimes even as a task. And the task fetches my salary no more no less. Not working beyond 8 hours and not pushing projects for sake of management helps to tolerate the job even if you don't love it. Because then you have life beyond you money fetching task.
jsudhams··on “Oracle laid off all Solaris tech staff in a classic silent EOL of the product”
I think Redhat or IBM with another product would have been great with software on top availble for both Linux and Solaris
jsudhams··on Lessons learned from implementing a text editor related to front-end development
We do have programmer, developer and engineer. I assume the framework developer will come in league of developer while the user is programmer

jsudhams··on Moving The New York Times Games Platform to Google App Engine
Wait until GCP becomes older with bigquery and other versions. Also GCP does not have regions ready and it takes forever to get a new region. Waiting for Mumbai region for more than 3 to 4 months now.

But one thing i like about GCP is that it allows to the limit setting in terms of cost and ensure you wont cross it. In case of AWS it can give alerts but for some reason say all you team in in one location and there is emergency like flood etc and you dont check email then you are done. I stopped using AWS after i learned that there is simply no way to set limit. Waiting for GCP to open their Mumbai region. sigh.

Also AWS is very deceiving with free tier , there is simply no way to understand which products get free and worst case is after free tier you will get charged.

jsudhams··on Firefox 55 and Selenium IDE
I don't use extension any extension but i use Firefox on Desktop and Mobile. From end user wait time etc i dont see any difference between firefox and chrome. For some reason firefox is seem to be faster than chrome on mobile. I use firefox focus mostly on mobile. It would be really sad to see firefox go away as that is only one which is not tied to OS or tied to provider of webmail etc. I see firefox as a product from browser company.
jsudhams··on Intel Reveals Post-8th Gen. Core Architecture 10nm+ Ice Lake
So it does affect only Desktop workload right? Because on servers as long as we use virtuals we should be good. Am i right?
jsudhams··on Indian government bans archive.org
In the current scenario this would be illegal to circumvent in most cases so if DoT puts block, don't try to circumvent even if it is possible. In India the law situation pretty bad so.....
jsudhams··on Mailit: A Tiny Drop-In REST API to Send Emails
Another reason i would do is , i have only port 80/443 allowed outside my network. so using https api helps with that
jsudhams··on RAM Is the New Disk
Not sure i agree, on Server spec the ram cost 10% more than CPU like if CPU cost 2000 then ram cost would be like 2200. Also it is not scalable for amount of data and not sure if I agree on laptop as well , 8gb ddr3 is about $80 while I can get 128gb ssd or 1tb magnetic disk so really can't use memory instead of disk. Except in few cases
jsudhams··on Britain Pledges to Ban New Diesel and Gas Cars by 2040
Seriously? Like they run all the existing services. What we want less government involvement not more.
jsudhams··on The Decline of Investment in San Francisco Startups
The best way is to make work from home / remote default. If US does then devloping countries can follow. If Fortune 100 company makes rule for thier offshoring companies allow work from home then they pretty much can solve traffic issues all Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad in a month. And the country like India can also improve infrastruture other than road .
jsudhams··on A hacker stole $31M of Ether – how it happened, and what it means for Ethereum
I think we should not require person to be certied rather the code to be certified by a body. I think we already have this for Infra like PCIDSS and there private companies. Now if some one setup a company and work insure for cerified code it will be great

And people should demand for such static analysis like now we do ask https connections

jsudhams··on NASA admits it doesn’t have the funding to land humans on Mars
They should outsource this to India or Israel.
jsudhams··on Two-factor authentication is a mess

jsudhams··on Bilingual speakers experience time differently, study finds
Why is the new generation not using exact time like 6:45 5:30 etc? It is very confusing for non english speaker.Because we have to convert half to 30 and past to past and hour. Hmmm.... in recent trip two times is missed correct time and asked 6:45 or 7:15 tell me exact time. Is it very difficult for the people who are used say in work like half past seven to say 7:30 ?
jsudhams··on Root – Programmable bank account for software developers
I think you can use yodlee and it good for read only purpose.
jsudhams··on Root – Programmable bank account for software developers
Used yodlee multiple banks and works perfect. Can do most of this spend reports and budget part of it.
jsudhams··on Root – Programmable bank account for software developers
One of the issue with cashless is that banks/financial service provided making money of of the money i.e. $100 making more than $100 with out adding any real value in fees (100 time circulation). I know time is money in most western countries but my place we do one crop a year and sit idle for 9 months. So time is not a money and we would rather give cash to a person get that much worth of a product.

E.g. My sons school charges 2% extra if i use credit card, Rs 20 if i use netbank and does not accept cash. So on a Saturday i am happy pay in cash when i have nothing else to do.

Unless government makes the transfer without fee (now they can print less money and that cost can be used for this infra of transfer), why is cashless better in the scenario where that saved time is not used for anything value generating?

Genuinely looking for answers to this that makes sense rather than saying time is money.

jsudhams··on Infosys plans to hire 10,000 American workers, open four U.S. tech centers
Hmmm now americans are going to suffer, infosys hired bright indian kids and made them do CRUD apps and Managers. If this trend continues this is going to be more exploitation of US Citizens and very bad for the IT industry in US.
jsudhams··on India Is Winning Its War on Human Waste
I have had and have two issues in my village especially for poor.

1. Keeping the toilet in home, this is no issue(99% of my village is fine with it)but having exhaust and running it is still an issue 2. Running water with pipe , if you ask a must if you need good toilet. A big issue for 6 months in our village so able people built storage tank , pump up water when water comes in pipe from village tank but for the ones who keep in vessels , it is big issue 3. Space for septic tank, in many plots house is built on full land available to them so no more space for septic tank 4. Last but not least, if you have issue septic there is not a possibility to clean like in city using that special lorry that come with pump and tank

If govt can do something about 2/3/4 then it is possible to have more toilets.
