justacrow··on A statement on the Tor Project's relationship with Mullvad
The Party that the Mullvad CEO donated to, and which Tor objects to, has this in their party program (https://web.archive.org/web/20260914062240/https://www.orebr...):

* Focus on more public surveillance

* Leverage the full intelligence capabilities of the state to detect and identify individuals involved in or associated with organized crime.

* Law enforcement authorities have the right to employ wiretapping, surveillance, extensive undercover operations, and preventive detention in cases involving an individual flagged as active within or around [organized crime].

* proactively blacklist and red-flag criminals, preventing them and their relatives from committing crimes altogether, restricting their ability to contact other criminals, access their assets and transfer/receive money (and a bunch of other things)

Does this seem compatible woth TOR and it's values?

(hilauriously the same party, as they're populists, are completely against Chat Control)

justacrow··on US closely monitoring case of lab worker who possibly died of plague in Siberia
To me there'a a difference between claining citizens having a moral responsibilty for the actions of their government, and some other entity deciding that all of some countrys citizen deserve to be punished for the crimes of said government.

The US government has murdered a lot more civilians than Bin Laden ever did, but there's not really anyone arguing for broad collective punishment of its citizens (well, ecept for thr Bin Laden-likes)

justacrow··on US closely monitoring case of lab worker who possibly died of plague in Siberia
To be clear, your position is that none of Pakistans 250M citizens deserve trustworthy healthcare, as some guys were harboring Bin Laden?
justacrow··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
If the developer can't be bothered to not make it look vibecoded I assume there's a minimal amount of thought and effort put into it. And in that case I'm not going to bother using it.
justacrow··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
Nearby Glasses has 100k downloads, while ZuckOff is sitting at 1k.
justacrow··on PISA 2025 Students' reading and mathematics performance declined across the OECD
While the examples above just draws trolls pushing an immigration angle, consider these other countries:

Finland -45

Bulgaria -38

Malaysia -62

Israel -33

Serbia -44

Indonesia: -24

Full data is on Table 2.9, page 101 in the report: https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/pisa-2025-results-volum...

By this reasoning, abstinence-only sex education is a sure way to stop teen pregnancies and spread of STDs.

That they should be so lucky to have such a present CEO! Why ours sits on the board of multiple companies in unrelated industries, and manages some entirely unrelated business side of another conglomerate all by himself. Thankfully he's been promised several 10s to 100s of millions of dollars to make our company better now

Seems weird to dismiss stuff as "nonsense" just because you're "pretty sure". Hikaru Nakamura (who's been the world #2 in classical rating) did an IQ test on stream and ended up with 102. I've not seen any other results for top players.

The first study of it I found (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S01602...) notes that, while there is some correlation, "Full-scale IQ explained < 1% of the variance in chess skill."

justacrow··on Anonymous GitHub account mass-dropping undisclosed 0-days
And if you are a state agency who'd like to keep the undisclosed zero-days you rely on secret, spamming maintainers with reports makes sense.

As a bonus if you find any actual zero-days in your mass-generated ones you don't report it and get a new one to play with.

justacrow··on Larry Ellison: "Citizens will be on their best behavior because we’re recording"
Look, I have exactly two options:

1) Me and my entire family starves to death

2) I make 600k per year building surveillance systems for whoever wants them (as long as they're aligned with Peter Thiels and/or government interests)

justacrow··on Meta employees protest against mouse tracking tech at US offices
Yes, all those people Meta just laid off due to whistleblowing on the Glass privacy violations, and their content moderators and data labelers and so on have my full support.

No sympathies for anyone doing SW engineering or similar. Anyone working there can definitely get a different programming gig. It likely doesn't pay as much but that's how it goes when you sell your soul.

> workers should show more solidarity to one another, not because of “deserving it” or not, but simply because it’s the only way out of the pit they put us in.

In the same way we shouldn't have any solidarity with scabs, we should have no solidarity with the people who happily built the pit-pushing tools.

justacrow··on IDF killed Gaza aid workers at point blank range in 2025 massacre: Report
It's been a while since I saw that movie, how many sons, daughters and neighbours of those people does he kill, maim and abuse?

Assuming he kills several, how many hospital workers trying to help them and journalists documenting his rampage does he kill?

I would feel sorry for all of those people.

justacrow··on Over 80% of 16 to 24-year-olds would vote to rejoin the EU
That's great, only like a generation of people having to suffer and struggle from say age 20 to 40 so that their masters can attempt to be a superpower.
justacrow··on The EU moves to kill infinite scrolling
I'm all for banning social media as well as tracking in general, and will also happily work to those effects.

It's also prudent to shame those who allocate and greedily take that capital.

justacrow··on The EU moves to kill infinite scrolling
Engaging in bad and immoral behaviour for capital is still bad and immoral behaviour, particularly when one has other choices.
justacrow··on Oatly can no longer use term 'milk' in its marketing
>Following rulings in several courts, the UK Supreme Court on Wednesday said Oatly could neither trademark nor use the phrase "post-milk generation".

>The long-running dispute has centred on Dairy UK's argument that, under trademark law, the term "milk" can only be used to refer to products that come from an animal.

Next they should ban "zero sugar" and similar on packaging

justacrow··on Backing up Spotify
You'd hope there is room for a lot of stuff in between as well. I tried searching for some of yhe more unknown artists I follow (and have bought stuff from!) but didn't see any clear way to filter it to Spotify/music metadata only. Restricting to metadata+other cuts it down somewhat but it's still 100s of results for most topics.

Will be interesting to see what's there and not once the actual music torrents come up, should make it easier to search.

justacrow··on I may have found a way to spot U.S. at-sea strikes before they're announced
What is the evidence that these are drug traffickers? Are they convicted anywhere? Should the police in the US be able to execute anyone they claim are trafficking drugs or committing other crimes?
